    Analysis of Sustainability Activities in Spanish Elementary Education Textbooks

    The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development sets up education as a fundamental tool to educate and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable development; thus, education in schools must fulfill this purpose. Regarding to Primary Education in Spain, legislation establishes that sustainability must be addressed in a transversal manner, although it is explicitly mentioned in the curriculum as content to be addressed by the social sciences subject. Given that, in practice, textbooks are one of the most used tools by teachers, in this paper, we analyse the treatment given to sustainability by the activities of the textbooks of social sciences in Primary Education of the main Spanish publishers, from two perspectives: analysis of cognitive complexity and study of the subtopic regarding sustainability addressed in each activity. For the analysis of cognitive complexity of activities, Bloom鈥檚 taxonomy (six cognitive categories) and Costa鈥檚 questioning levels (three levels of questioning) were used. The results reveal an abundance of cognitively simple activities, along with a shortage of cognitively complex activities. The most addressed subtopics are environmental problems and recycling

    Proponemos en este trabajo un planteamiento interdisciplinar cuya experiencia se est谩 llevando a cabo en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educaci贸n de la Universidad de C贸rdoba, entre las 谩reas de Did谩ctica de las Ciencias Sociales y Experimentales, a trav茅s de una metodolog铆a activa en el desarrollo de un itinerario did谩ctico, donde el alumnado es el que lleva a cabo la preparaci贸n de las paradas y la exposici贸n de las mismas. Esta propuesta de colaboraci贸n entre estas dos 谩reas fija sus objetivos en la participaci贸n integral de cada discente a trav茅s de la b煤squeda y an谩lisis de informaci贸n relevante y la cooperaci贸n entre grupos. La tarea fomenta capacidades y competencias relacionadas con la transversalidad y la interdisciplinariedad de los contenidos y para su formaci贸n en el Grado de Educaci贸n Primaria.The aim of this work is to develop an educational itinerary to describe an interdisciplinary proposal that it is being developed in the Bachelor Degree of Primary Education belonging to the Faculty of Education Sciences in the University of C贸rdoba, with the implication of two areas of knowledge: Didactics of Social Sciences and Didactics of Experimental Sciences. We implemented an educational itinerary through the city of Cordoba, in which the students had to prepare and explain several aspects of the different points of interest in the itinerary, regarding with Social and/or Experimental Sciences. This activity implies an active and participative methodology that allows the students to develop some competencies as cooperative work, searching for information or oral presentations. Furthermore, this also promotes both interdisciplinarity and transversality. The main objective of this activity is to make the students reflect on the importance of their surroundings and on the possibilities that Cordoba city offers to be used as an educational resource

    Los problemas medioambientales que est谩 generando la especie humana han llegado a tener un car谩cter global y estar interconectados, llegando a la conclusi贸n de que es necesario apostar por un desarrollo sostenible. Una de las herramientas clave para alcanzar este desarrollo, que no ponga en peligro las necesidades de las futuras generaciones, es la Educaci贸n Ambiental. En este art铆culo se presenta una experiencia educativa llevada a cabo en el Grado de Educaci贸n Primaria en la que el alumnado ha sido protagonista activo de su propio aprendizaje, planificando y llevando a cabo la elaboraci贸n de una maqueta de una ciudad sostenible. Los resultados muestran un gran inter茅s por parte del alumnado, valorando de forma muy positiva la experiencia y plante谩ndose su realizaci贸n en un futuro con alumnado de Educaci贸n Primaria. Se trata en definitiva de formar y concienciar a los docentes del futuro, encargados de educar a la sociedad del ma帽ana.Environmental problems that have being generated by humans have become global character and be interconnected, concluding that it is necessary to bet for a sustainable development. One key tool to achieve this development that does not compromise the needs of future generations, is Environmental Education. This article presents an educational experience carried out in the Primary Education Degree in which students have played an active role in their learning process, planning and carrying out the elaboration of a sustainable city model. The results show great interest by the students, valuing in a very positive way the experience and considering its realization in a future with students of Primary Education. It is a way of raising awareness of this and educating the teachers of the future, responsible for educating the tomorrow society

    Los ni帽os y ni帽as de la sociedad actual se encuentran alejados de entornos naturales y est谩n necesitados de contacto con la naturaleza, lo que puede ser el motivo de distintos s铆ntomas como estr茅s o ansiedad. Existen investigaciones que muestran que el contacto con la naturaleza es beneficioso para el desarrollo de los infantes adem谩s de fomentar una actitud m谩s pro-ambiental. En este trabajo se pretende concienciar al alumnado del Grado de Educaci贸n Infantil de dichos beneficios mediante la ejecuci贸n de una serie de actividades centradas en el uso de los parques urbanos como recurso para el acercamiento a la naturaleza de los ni帽os y las ni帽as de la etapa de infantil.     Enhanced Performance of Zn/Br Flow Battery Using N-Methyl-N-Propylmorpholinium Bromide as Complexing Agent

    Redox flow batteries (RFB) are one of the most interesting technologies in the field of energy storage, since they allow the decoupling of power and capacity. Zinc鈥揵romine flow batteries (ZBFB) are a type of hybrid RFB, as the capacity depends on the effective area of the negative electrode (anode), on which metallic zinc is deposited during the charging process. Gaseous bromine is generated at the positive electrode (cathode) during the charging process, so the use of bromine complexing agents (BCA) is very important. These BCAs are quaternary amines capable of complexation with bromine and generating an organic phase, immiscible with the aqueous electrolyte. One of the most commonly used BCAs in RFB technology is 4-methylethylmorpholinium bromide (MEM-Br). In this work, an alternative quaternary amine 4-methylpropylmorpholinium bromide (MPM-Br) was studied. MPM-Br was integrated into the electrolyte, and 200 charge鈥揹ischarge cycles were performed on the resulting ZBFBs. The obtained results were compared with those when MEM-Br was used, and it was observed that the electrolyte with MPM-Br displays a higher resistance in voltage and higher energy efficiency, making it a promising alternative to MEM-Br

    Virtualization of assessment instruments for activities outside the classroom: questionnaires en route during visits to companies in the chemical sector

    En el proyecto desarrollado se ha buscado la implementaci贸n de herramientas m-learning que permitan la virtualizaci贸n del proceso de evaluaci贸n de las competencias adquiridas por los estudiantes de Grado en las actividades realizadas fuera del aula, espec铆ficamente, visitas a empresas del sector qu铆mico. Gracias a este proyecto se ha pretendido sustituir la herramienta habitual de evaluaci贸n para este tipo de actividad (redacci贸n de una memoria) por un instrumento interactivo tipo aplicaci贸n m贸vil 鈥搒martphones o tablets-. Esta virtualizaci贸n permite al estudiante completar una evaluaci贸n tipo test una vez finalizada la actividad docente, aprovechando el tiempo del desplazamiento desde la planta industrial visitada hasta el punto de origen. Dos aplicaciones inform谩ticas han sido evaluadas como soporte de las potenciales herramientas de evaluaci贸n (Kahoot y iSpringSuite), logrando alcanzar los objetivos propuestos en el proyecto.In the developed project, the implementation of m-learning tools that allow the virtualization of the evaluation process of the competences acquired by the students of Degree in the activities carried out outside the classroom, specifically, visits to companies in the chemical sector. Thanks to this project, it has been tried to replace the usual evaluation tool for this type of activity (writing a report) with an interactive instrument such as a mobile application -smartphones or tablets-. This virtualization allows the student to complete a test type evaluation once the teaching activity has finished, taking advantage of the time of the trip from the industrial plant visited to the point of origin. Two computer applications have been evaluated as support for the potential assessment tools (Kahoot and iSpringSuite), achieving the objectives proposed in the project
