&nbsp

Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050. This means that unless we take immediate action, we will not be able to establish their current status, much less monitor how it is changing and what is being lostinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Abstract Introduction Pertussis is an infectious disease that currently has a reemerging profile. Factors such as weaknesses in the immune system, 1-year follow-up vaccination, changes in genotype of the bacteria and increased susceptibility among young and adults have been raising rate of disease incidence. Objective Thus, it is aimed to identify and to characterize the epidemiological profile of confirmed cases in Rio Grande do Norte (RN) state. Method It was analyzed data from RN at Sinan databases from 2011 to 2014. Results It was observed that the confirmed cases were predominantly children under 6 months of age. The classic symptoms of the disease have been identified in most affected. It was also perceived that the confirmed cases were strongly linked to non-uptake of immunization or incomplete vaccination. Conclusion The findings suggest the importance of vaccination to control disease and the need to improve activities surveillance to provide an accurate epidemiological representation of the disease.

</p

Data was collected from September to October, 2010 in the electronic databases Scopus, Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and Scientific and Technical Literature of Latin America and the Caribbean (LILACS). Five articles were found. The results show that the majority of studies are descriptive and exploratory. Routinely, NP phases are not being applied as a tool and when they are, it is in an incomplete way. The conclusion of this review shows that the SAE through the NP for patients with oncologic conditions is not a common practice; however, its implementation is suggested as a way to provide holistic care with quality to individuals and their families

    Educational actions for the elderly

In the aging process, the older adults are faced with the emergence of chronic diseases that often reflect in difficulties for health maintenance. Therefore, it is important to work with seniors to promote the improvement in lifestyle. This article is a report from a research project at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, which carries out educational actions in the Inaraí Association (Natal,RN,Brazil), with the objective of divulging activities and thereby stimulate the formation of groups that aim at promoting the health of the elderly. To develop the actions, we rely on the information in the epidemiological profile previously developed in the Association, from then on, through weekly meetings collected with elderly women. We intend to stimulate good habits of life, in order to make possible the improvement of lifestyle and, therefore, to promote health for the group
