Czternaście kilometrów do raju. Obrazy migracji do Andaluzji w kinie hiszpańskim

Filmowe reprezentacje migracji pojawiają się w kinie hiszpańskim od drugiej połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX w., wraz z nasileniem ruchów migracyjnych. Andaluzja jako region autonomiczny położony najbliżej wybrzeży Afryki jest w tych nar-racjach urzeczywistnieniem snu o Europie, choć często pełni jedynie rolę przystanku na drodze do bardziej uprzemysłowionych regionów Hiszpanii lub do innych krajów Europy Zachodniej. Lejtmotywem większości tych filmów stała się przeprawa przez Cieśninę Gibraltarską, a 14 kilometrów, wyznaczające jej długość w najwęższym miejscu, stało się metaforą wykorzystywaną zarówno przez socjologów jak i przez filmowców, aby oddać paradoks międzykontynentalnej odległości – życia tak blisko i zarazem tak daleko. W narracjach filmowych dominują dwie odmienne perspektywy. Pierwsza z nich reprezentuje spojrzenie mieszkańców Andaluzji i podróżujących na południe Hiszpanów, druga natomiast próbuje pokazać problemy międzykulturowych spotkań z punktu widzenia samych migrantów. Niekiedy jednak perspektywy te nieoczekiwanie się splatają, a przynależność do miejsca w globalizującej się Europie oraz złożoność jej historii okazuje się nieoczywista i kontestująca wzajemnie konstruowane stereotypy. The article depicts narrative strategies in twelve Spanish films about migration from North Africa to Andalusia. This problem has been gaining increasing interest of Spanish filmmakers since 1990s, which is a concomitant of intensification of migration itself. Andalusia, as an autonomous region located closest to Africa is a fulfilment of European Dream but also a place of disillusionment. Oftentimes it is also merely a brief stop on way to the more industrialized regions of Spain or other countries of western Europe. The fourteen kilometres that separate Africa from Europe in the narrowest spot of the Strait of Gibraltar eventually became a metaphor in order to render the paradox of intercontinental distance. The analysis focuses on different narrative perspectives, racial stereotypes and new racism reflected in cinematography images

Retornos filmicos de Orfeo y Euridice

The analysis of eleven films, which return to the story about Orpheus and Eurydice, proves universality of the myth and depicts its new cultural and symbolic contexts in different stages of development of cinematography. Adaptations, inspirations, and references to the tragedy of the ancient heroes reflect variable fashions and social realities in which their namesakes live, as well as form the starting point to reflection on the theme of love and death, meeting and loss, power of poetry, and widely understood artistic creativity. La obra de Goya como inspiración en el cine español

Se distinguen tres tendencias dentro de las referencias de temática goyesca en el cine. La primera se focaliza en el personaje de Goya, presente en la pantalla como protagonista de películas biográficas, así como personaje secundario en el cine histórico. El segundo tema es la Guerra de la Independencia, cuya iconografía aparece frecuentemente también en las narraciones fílmicas que tratan de otros conflictos. La tercera tendencia está relacionada con diversos contextos sociales. Mencionadas referencias temáticas están vinculadas a varios aspectos formales de la adaptación de la pintura a la pantalla. El análisis del material fílmico además permite mostrar cómo ha evolucionado la manera de ver a Goya en su país

The analysis of five different Spanish screen adaptations of Carmen by Prosper Mérimée reveals how these films, made in different periods, reflect cultural and political changes, dominant ideologies and changing fashions and fantasies. In Spanish film adaptations Carmen has many faces. She is considered to be an icon of españolada, at the same time she is a proud Gypsy pretending to be a Basque, a rebel desiring freedom above all else, yet another incarnation of femme fatale, but also a converted sinner – pious and in love with a soldier, and not with her own independence. On-screen references to Carmen, often dressed in ironic quotation marks and appearing on the margins of – it would appear – unrelated stories are also interesting

Moja rozprawa jest pierwszą próbą zebrania wszystkich wątków związanych z obecnością malarza i jego twórczości na ekranach, zarówno kinowych, jak i telewizyjnych. Dotychczas powstawały z tego zakresu sporadyczne artykuły, najczęściej podejmujące najłatwiejszy do ujęcia aspekt zagadnienia, a mianowicie obecność na ekranie samej postaci artysty.Inspiracje twórczością Goi w kinie hiszpańskim, jako element szerszego zjawiska, wymagają niewątpliwie, by ukazać je na tle odniesień do prac i biografii artysty w innych dziedzinach sztuki, zarysować rolę mistrza w budowaniu hiszpańskiej tożsamości kulturowej oraz wprowadzić czytelnika w obszar jego sztuki i życia pod kątem przyszłych odniesień filmowych. Tym aspektom poświęciłam pierwszą część mojej rozprawy, mającą charakter wprowadzający. W części drugiej analizuję zebrany materiał filmowy, dzieląc go pod względem trzech najczęstszych reminiscencji tematycznych, nie stroniąc też od analizy warstwy wizualnej, mającej tu jednak na celu pokazanie związków treściowych. W ostatniej, trzeciej części próbuję zgłębić istotę estetycznych odniesień do dzieła mistrza, zajmując się portretami, sceneriami i rekwizytami „malowanymi kamerą”, a także, w rozdziale ostatnim, podsumowując typy formalnych nawiązań do grafiki i malarstwa, które mogą być odczytywane nie tylko w kontekście twórczości Goi, ale również w szerszym kręgu spotkań plastyki i filmu

Pejzaże wyobrażone : Kraj Basków i Andaluzja w kinie hiszpańskim

Różnorodność hiszpańskich krajobrazów fascynowała filmowców już od narodzin kinematografii, a filmowe pejzaże bardzo szybko stały się znakami tożsamości i symbolami kultur regionalnych. Kino współczesne, mimo inaczej rozłożonych akcentów i odmiennych uwarunkowań ideologicznych, wyraźnie odwołuje się do tradycji, w której to, co lokalne, zderza się z tym, co narodowe. Kwestia regionalizmu ma zresztą związek także z samą produkcją filmową i niewątpliwie wymaga tu metodologicznego uściślenia

Odkrywanie innego : podróże do Andaluzji w kinie hiszpańskim

This paper shows changes in film images of journeys to Andalusia. The starting point are the stereotypes which influenced the image of Andalusia in the first decades of the cinema. During the Francoist dictatorship the region was perceived as a symbol of the whole Spain and the purpose of the journey was to contrast foreign and Andalusian culture. After the political transformation directors focused more on interregional travel. New narrative models and transformations of scenery emerged, which corresponded with realistic trends in contemporary cinema

Dialog na ostrzu siekiery i oswajanie innego. Kraj Basków a kino hiszpańskie (1991–2014)

The problem of the Basque-Spanish confl ict appears in passing already in silent fi lms. However, only in the second half of the 20th century, in particular after the death of general Franco, does it emerge with an intensity unseen before. This is, on one hand, the time when regional cinematographies and cultures fl ourish in Spain, but on the other, the period when terrorism becomes more widespread there. This article focuses on the Spanish cinema in the last twenty fi ve years and shows the new tendencies in portraying the Basque-Spanish confl icts. In fi lms on terrorism there are stories about ex ETA members, which also highlight internal struggles in the Basque Country. There are also interesting examples of culture clashes, and the theme of travel as a starting point for meeting the unfamiliar. Recently we have seen an increase in the diversity of genre conventions by means of which the Basque themes are taken up – from thrillers to romantic comedies
