In the competitive world of microprocessor design and manufacturing, rapid advancements can be facilitated by learning from the components made by one’s closest rivals. To make this possible, Orisar Inc. (formerly Semiconductor Insights) provides reverse engineering services to integrated circuit (IC) manufacturers. The process produces a circuit diagram from a chip and allows the manufacturer to learn about a competitor’s product. These services are also used to determine if any intellectual property infringements have been committed by their competitor. Reverse engineering of integrated circuit is made difficult by the shrinking form factor and increasing transistor density. To perform this complex task Orisar Inc. employs sophisticated techniques to capture the design of an IC. Electron microscope photography captures a detailed image of an IC layer. Because a typical IC contains more than one layer, each layer is photographed and physically removed from the IC to expose the next layer. A noise removal algorithm is then applied to the pictures, which are then passed to pattern recognition software in order to transfer the layer design into a polygonal representation of the circuit. At the last step a knowledgeable human expert looks at the polygonal representation and inputs the design into a standard electronic schematic with a CAD package. This process us currently very time consuming. We propose a method which can be easily automated thereby saving valuable worker time and accelerating the process of reverse engineering

STUDI KASUS YAYASAN X: ANALISA HASIL EXIT QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Studi kasus pada Yayasan X bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran dan analisa hasil exit interview questionnaire karyawan yang keluar pada tahun 2009 dan 2010. Studi kasus ini dilakukan atas dasar pentingnya melihat dimensi atau faktor yang ada, terutama yang berhubungan dengan faktor kepuasan atau ketidak puasan dalam karyawan bekerja didalam Organisasi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pengambilan data primer pada Yayasan X, dengan metode deskriptif. Subyek sebanyak 63 orang karyawan yang keluar pada tahun 2009 dan 125 orang karyawan yang keluar pada tahun 2010 pada posisi, level dan status yang berbeda. Hasilnya secara umum memperlihatkan bahwa ada 2 faktor yang seharusnya memotivasi kerja karyawan menjadi sebaliknya yaitu menyebabkan ketidakpuasan pada karyawan, dan ada 2 faktor pula yang mengkonfirmasi alasan mengapa seorang karyawan menjadi tidak puas dan memutuskan untuk meninggalkan Organisasi. Saran-saran diajukan untuk melakukan penelitian selanjutnya untuk lebih memperdalam hasil analisa statistika deskriptif, sehingga penggambaran menjadi lebih mendalam; serta dapat memberikan saran yang akurat bagi organisasi

The Characteristics of Primitivism in Ernest Hemingway's the Old Man and the Sea

Authors of any periods unconsciously tend to explore the sublimity and free expression of feeling, the simplicity of style and themes, the portrayal of the 'noble savage', the glorification of nature, the excitement of physical power and sensuous use of language. These are the characteristics of primitivism, the celebration of an earlier stage of human development, which is uncorrupted, vigorous, genuine expression of life. Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea clearly depicts the characteristics of primitivism as seen in the portrayal of its main character, Santiago. Hemingway's regret on the impact of technology led him to write the novella with its hero who is depicted with the qualities of being a true hero, a winner 'who takes nothing' ; a 'noble savage' with great courage of physical action while dealing with nature. PERBANDINGAN PERSENTASE HASIL SINTESIS ISOBUTIL PROPIONAT (FLAVOR RUM) ANTARA KATALIS H2S04 PEKAT DAN HCI PEKAT

Telah dilakukan sintesis Isobutil Propionat melalui reaksi esterifikasi Fischer dari asam propionat (200 mmol) dan isobutanol (50 mmol) dengan menggunakan katalis antara H2SO4 pekat dan HCI pekat dengan lama pemanasan 4 jam.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan persentase hasil sintesis isobutil propionat dengan katalis yang berbeda. Dari hasil percobaan diperoleh persentase hasil 73,04% dengan katalis H2S04 pekat dan 67,23% dengan katalis HCl pekat. Karakterisasi fisik senyawa hasil sintesis meliputi jarak didih yang sama = 136`-138`C...
