Computer aided planning of WLAN access networks

An Internet application was developed to support the design process of the WLAN access network. The whole program was designed as a desktop application using the following languages: HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The main task of the application facilitates the planning process of the WLAN access network, including the location of multiple base stations.  There is an example of using the program in the WLAN network planning process. The main purpose of this application as the ability to carry out network planning using multiple base stations and provide radio coverage for the entire area served by Wireless Internet Service Provider, is obtained

Public hybrid spaces as a component of contemporary cities

The main objectives of research work presented in the paper are: 1/Exploring the urban design solutions of public hybrid spaces in contemporary cities, which are the outstanding examples of expressive identity, 2/Carrying out the modern interpretation of principles of composition of hybrid public spaces (in urban scale), 3/Exploring the urban design solutions of public hybrid spaces, on the example of student’s works realized at The Faculty of Architecture, The Warsaw University of Technology, in The Chair of Urban Design and Rural Landscape - the detailed studies concerning spatial forms, functions and transport system. The research work has been realized with taking into consideration existing state of knowledge and use of methods proper for morphological investigations of city space. There have been used various research methods: method of analysis and critique of sources (planning documents, design projects and literature), observation method, comparative method, etc. The main conclusions: 1/The development of public hybrid spaces is connected with limiting of territorial growth of cities and supporting the development of their inner areas, what contributes to creation of the efficient spatial form and sustainable development of contemporary cities, 2/Public hybrid spaces contribute to a high degree to preserve or to create cultural identity of the city. In the face of broadening phenomenon of making uniform of the townscape of contemporary cities, shaping their identity should become a basic need of every city

El aprovechamiento de la conversación en tres obras de narrativa actual

La conversación coloquial es un género discursivo que la narrativa viene aprovechando ininterrumpidamente, aunque con diferentes propósitos, desde mediados del siglo XIX. Aunque el fervor experimentativo de la novela lingüística los años 60. Parece hoy atenuado, múltiples obras narrativas de lengua española siguen integrando grandes porciones de discurso inspirado en los modelos orales. El articulo analiza el tratamiento narrativo de la conversación coloquial en el marco de tres monólogos autonómos representativos para la prosa literaria actual (Jaime Bayly, Roberto Bolaño, Roger Wolfe). Se revisan las formas de citación lingüísticas y literarias, observando la representación de lo implícito, normalmente silenciado en los intercambios verbales. Los diálogos analizados resultan ser, en su mayoría, “contiendas” verbales, que, en vez de comunicar, separan a los interlocutores.Since 19th century narrative, colloquial conversation has been used with different purposes. Even though widely experimental insertions, as in the 60s, have been attenuated in present works, there are still a large number of novels profiting from oral texts. This paper focuses on the narrative treatment of colloquial conversation used in three monologues representative of curren prose (Jaime Bayly, Roberto Bolano, Roger Wolfe). Forms of linguistic and literary citations are reviewed, especially heeding the implicit, usually silenced, content of verbal exchanges. Integrated Well-being: Positive Psychology and the Natural World

In the web of life, we are all interconnected. This connectivity extends beyond the human domain and towards systems much larger than ourselves—the whole of the Earth’s species. As this paper illustrates, this connectivity with non-human life is innate, and deepening that connection to nature has positive influences on our well-being and optimal functioning, above and beyond the mere utilitarian value that our environment affords. Whether looking at nature through a window or being fully immersed, wild spaces are good for our mental and physical health, our likelihood to engage in ecological behaviors, and our personal and community resiliency and well-being. Initiatives that recognize the importance of wild spaces also build powerful, positive, sustainable communities. When positive psychology notions of well-being are more systems-based and nature-inclusive, we get a deeper and more holistic understanding of our own psychology. We are also better prepared for a world in which all of life—humans today and future generations, as well as plants, animals, and planetary processes—can flourish regeneratively. From an examination of the individual to a reflection of our interdependence with the whole of the world, positive psychology has the potential to unmask a complete picture of all it means to be alive and thriving
