    Use of genetic algorithms and gradient based optimization techniques for calcium phosphate precipitation

    Phase equilibrium computations constitute an important problem for designing and optimizing crystallization processes. The Gibbs free energy is generally used as an objective function to find phase amount and composition at equilibrium. In such problems, the Gibbs free energy may be a quite complex function, with several local minima. This paper presents a contribution to handle this kind of problems by implementation of an optimization technique based on the successive use of a genetic algorithm (GA) and of a classical sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method: the GA is used to perform a preliminary search in the solution space for locating the neighborhood of the solution. Then, the SQP method is employed to refine the best solution provided by the GA. The basic operations involved in the design of the GA developed in this study (encoding with binary representation of real values, evaluation function, adaptive plan) are presented. Several test problems are first presented to demonstrate the validity of the approach. Then, calcium phosphate precipitation which is of major interest for P-recovery from wastewater, has been chosen as an illustration of the implemented algorithm

    Orange Is The New Black : um estudo sobre a manifestação de fãs no Instagram

    A presente monografia, intitulada – “Orange Is The New Black: um estudo sobre a manifestação de fãs no Instagram” – tem como objetivo principal analisar como ocorre a interação dos fãs com a série na plataforma do Instagram a partir do incentivo dos produtores, além de identificar quais outras plataformas de mídia são utilizadas pelos canais oficiais e quais os tipos de conteúdo são disseminados em cada uma delas, percebendo assim, como ocorre a relação entre a cultura de fãs e os diálogos iniciados pelos produtores da série. O presente trabalho visa contribuir com o estudo da cultura dos fãs no âmbito digital, usando autores como Jenkins (2008), Bandeira (2009), Curi (2010) e Silveira (2010). Reflete sobre as questões de comunidades interpretativas, redes e atores sociais e os laços fracos e fortes gerados a partir da interação entre eles, utilizando autores como Recuero (2009), Granovetter (1973), Aguiar (2007) e Ribeiro (2010). Esta monografia comtempla uma análise acerca da manifestação dos fãs a partir da ação On Wednesdays We Wear Orange que incentiva a participação dos fãs da série por meio do Instagram utilizando a hashtag #OnWednesdaysWeWear. Utiliza como metodologia a Netnografia a partir dos apontamentos de Hine (2004) e Fragoso, Recuero e Amaral (2011). Por fim, reúne os resultados encontrados que mostram que a utilização da hashtag não visa apenas a participação na ação dos produtores, mas é um meio de ter maior visibilidade nos posts e contato com outros fãs.This monograph entitled - "Orange Is the New Black: a study of the manifestation of fans on Instagram" - aims to analyze how occurs the interaction between fans and the TV show on Instagram platform from encouraging producers campaigns. It identifies which other media platforms are used by official channels and what types of content are disseminated in each of them as they realize, how occurs the relationship between culture fans and dialogues initiated by producers of the TV show. This monograph aims contribute to the study of the fan culture in digital context, using authors as Jenkins (2008), Bandeira (2009), Curi (2010) and Silveira (2010). Argue about issues of interpretative communities, networks and social actors and the weak and strong ties generated from the interaction between them, using authors as Recuero (2009), Granovetter (1973), Aguiar (2007) and Ribeiro (2010). This paper contemplates an analysis of the action On Wednesdays We Wear Orange that encourages the participation of fans of the series through Instagram using the hashtag #OnWednesdaysWeWearOrange. It used as methodology Netnography usign authors as Hine (2004) and Fragoso, Recuero and Amaral (2011). Finally it gathers the results showing that the use of the hashtag aims not only to participate in the action of the producers, but it is a means to have greater visibility in posts and connect with other fans
