The purpose of this study is to examine teachers\u27 opinions on what can be done to create a culturally responsive classroom environment. A phenomenological pattern was used and 13 volunteer teachers participated in the study. The data were obtained with the standardised open-ended interview technique. The interview questions consisted of class standards that are culturally responsive and common components based on Weinstein et al. (2003) and Weinstein et al. (2004). According to the research findings, teachers should question themselves and examine how their cultural background influences their preferences, lifestyles and behaviours. In order to understand the culture of the students, it would be useful for the teachers to research the culture of the student and to contact their families. In the communication process with families, cultural differences should be respected, be sensitive to cultural communication styles and a two-way communication should be established with families. At this point, teachers can plan activities and group work that exhibit cultural differences in the classroom environment, keeping their expectations from students high and encouraging students in this regard. (2003) i Weinstein i sur. (2004).

    Get PDF
Correlations on the state of ceramic plates, that are either intact or cracked, are performed through the data obtained. In the analysis the frequency range of coherence has been identified in the form of the two regions. Low-frequency region is spectral amplitude that is below the threshold defined by the level of coherence about 0.2, which is on the level of little correlation. This region is in the frequency range of approximately 0-28 kHz. In this frequency range a weak correlation between the spectra of solid ceramic plates and cracked ones is observed

Energy is the most important element for people to continue their lives, to run theirbusinesses, to operate their vehicles, and to grow their countries. Balkan countriesgained their independence not so long ago. The infrastructure in these countriesincluding energy transportation and power plants are not new and they need to berenewed with cutting edge new technologies. Balkan countries such as Albania,Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania,Montenegro, and Serbia are not energy-reach countries in terms of energyresources and power generation technologies. On the other hand, Balkan countriesare on the passage of energy corridor from energy rich Caspian and middle- eastcountries to west European countries. This advantage brings opportunities to builtlow- cost and reliable energy plants. As a result, the medium will be more attractivefor new investments to come as long as the countries properly utilize EnergyTransmission Lines (ETP)

Channel Estimation Using RIDNet Assisted OMP for Hybrid-field THz Massive MIMO Systems

The terahertz (THz) band radio access with larger available bandwidth is anticipated to provide higher capacities for next-generation wireless communication systems. However, higher path loss at THz frequencies significantly limits the wireless communication range. Massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) is an attractive technology to increase the Rayleigh distance by generating higher gain beams using low wavelength and highly directive antenna array aperture. In addition, both far-field and near-field components of the antenna system should be considered for modelling THz electromagnetic propagation, where the channel estimation for this environment becomes a challenging task. This paper proposes a novel channel estimation method using a recursive information distillation network (RIDNet) together with orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) for hybrid-field THz mMIMO channels, including both far-field and near-field components. The simulation experiments are performed using the ray-tracing tool. The results indicate that the proposed RIDNet-based method consistently provides lower channel estimation errors compared to the conventional OMP algorithm for all signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regimes, and the performance gap becomes higher at low SNR regimes. Furthermore, the results imply that the same error performance of the OMP can be achieved by the RIDNet-based method using a lower number of RF chains and pilot symbols.Comment: Accepted to publication in ICC-202

Active force generation contributes to the complexity of spontaneous activity and to the response to stretch of murine cardiomyocyte cultures.

Monolayer cultures of cardiac cells exhibit spontaneous electrical and contractile activity, as in a natural cardiac pacemaker. Beating variability in these preparations recapitulates the power-law behavior of heart rate variability in vivo. However, the effects of mechano-electrical feedback on beating variability are not yet fully understood. Using stretchable microelectrode arrays, we examined the effects of the contraction uncoupler blebbistatin and the non-specific stretch activated channel blocker streptomycin on beating variability and on stretch-induced changes of beat rate. Without stretch, blebbistatin decreased the spatial complexity of beating variability, while streptomycin had no effects. Both stretch and release transiently increased beat rate; blebbistatin attenuated the increase of beat rate upon stretch, while streptomycin had no effects. Active force generation contributes to the complexity of spatiotemporal patterns of beating variability and to the increase of beat rate upon mechanical deformation. Our study contributes to understanding how mechano-electric feedback influences heart rate variability. Cardiomyocyte cultures exhibit spontaneous electrical and contractile activity, as in a natural cardiac pacemaker. In such preparations, beat rate variability exhibits features similar to those of heart rate variability in vivo. Mechanical deformations and forces feedback on the electrical properties of cardiomyocytes, but it is not fully elucidated how this mechano-electrical interplay affects beating variability in such preparations. Using stretchable microelectrode arrays, we assessed the effects of the myosin inhibitor blebbistatin and the nonselective stretch-activated channel blocker streptomycin on beating variability and on the response of neonatal or foetal murine ventricular cell cultures against deformation. Spontaneous electrical activity was recorded without stretch and upon predefined deformation protocols (5% uniaxial and 2% equibiaxial strain, applied repeatedly for 1 min every 3 min). Without stretch, spontaneous activity originated from the edge of the preparations, and its site of origin switched frequently in a complex manner across the cultures. Blebbistatin did not change mean beat rate, but it decreased the spatial complexity of spontaneous activity. In contrast, streptomycin did not exert any manifest effects. During the deformation protocols, beat rate transiently increased upon stretch, but paradoxically also upon release. Blebbistatin attenuated the response to stretch, while this response was not affected by streptomycin. Therefore, our data support the notion that in a spontaneously firing network of cardiomyocytes, active force generation, rather than stretch-activated channels, is mechanistically involved in the complexity of the spatiotemporal patterns of spontaneous activity and in the stretch-induced acceleration of beating. Abstract figure legend Mechano-electric feedback modulates myocardial electrical function, including pacemaking. By growing monolayer cultures of spontaneously active murine cardiac cells on stretchable microelectrode arrays, we examined whether active contractions influence the spatiotemporal characteristics of beating variability and the effects of stretching on beat rate. Under control conditions (no stretch and no pharmacological agent), the origin of the electrical activity changed frequently. After blocking contractions with blebbistatin, the spatiotemporal pattern of electrical activity became less variable and less complex. Under control conditions (no pharmacological agent), stretching (and also releasing) the cardiomyocyte monolayers transiently increased beat rate. Blebbistatin attenuated the acceleration of beating upon stretch. In contrast, streptomycin had no detectable effects. Thus, active force generation is involved in determining beating variability in spontaneously active cardiac tissue. Possible mechanisms may include cellular processes that sense contraction and chemical messengers.
