Authentic performances: The role of impression management in audience understanding of leaders' authenticity

    Get PDF
Due to the increase in scandals and failures in organisations, public concerns have increased over leadership, and authentic leadership has been promoted as the most feasible response to these concerns (Liu, 2010). However, there seem to be diverse views on what encompasses authentic leadership. Three qualitative studies were therefore conducted in varied settings in order to obtain participants’ understanding of authenticity and the role that impression management played in their understanding of authenticity. Study 1 involved group discussions after the participants were shown two video clips of organisational leaders. Study 2 involved a case study in an organisational setting, where interviews were carried out in addition to participant observation. Study 3 involved interviews with participants from diverse industries, in order to confirm the findings of the first two studies. All the three studies were consistent in the findings indicating that there is not one thing called authenticity and that impression management and authenticity are related. The findings only confirmed what we found in the literature indicating diverse views on what authenticity entailed, and therefore, that there is not one thing called authenticity

Empagliflozin: a wonder drug in preventing diabetic nephropathy and cardiovascular effects

    Get PDF
Diabetes, a terrible disease, with highest incidence in world produces many complications which will end up in dreadful situations. Diabetes nephropathy is one of the complications which lead to dialysis, renal replacement. empagliflozin, sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors decreases plasma blood glucose level, HbA1C and weight by excreting glucose in urine. It by decreasing HbA1C results in decrease in complications of diabetes due to high blood sugar and fluctuating blood sugars. It decreases the blood pressure, arterial stiffness and vascular resistance. It decreases the risk factors of diabetic nephropathy like hyperglycemia and high blood pressure. It also decreases the diabetes-related glomerular hypertrophy, markers of renal inflammation, as well as mesangial matrix expansion and thus ameliorates the early signs of diabetic nephropathy. The efficacy in decreasing blood glucose levels was confirmed in four randomized placebo controlled studies. The safety concern was seen in studies were urinary and genital tract infections. It thus proves to be an efficient option for diabetes in preventing diabetes nephropathy and cardiovascular effects

    Disease Navigation Application

Telemedicine is in the current line of requirements of modern society. Automated symptom-based disease detection and appointment booking is a well-known research topic in the field of informatics and system design. That helps in elevating awareness and early detection of disease at the ease of home through appointment booking. The purpose of the application is the capability to articulate disease symptoms, gathering all relevant information of the patient and a recommendation system that eventually evaluates all symptoms and maps effectively to a specialty department. Using the natural language processing-based approach, the user can input text of symptoms to be mapped with Google Search API and then finally parse them and generate recommendations based on the user input. Then it enables the user to choose a doctor and book an appointment based on the availability of that doctor. The application is developed by using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build the front end and using microservice API exposed as REST built with the Django Python framework to build the back end. Using an SQLite database for the back end of the application helps to store the data locally and makes the application functional. In addition, appointment booking, and disease recommendation are two inevitable features from an end-user perspective

Exxon, Chevron and Conocophillips: 25 Years of Rejecting Shareholder Concerns on Climate Change

    Get PDF
The resolutions included in this list are focused on climate change, including carbon reductions, climate expertise on boards, related market shifts that could hurt companies' stock value and lobbying/political efforts that work against climate solutions. We excluded several kinds of proposals that were not explicitly climate related, even though they were relevant to climate change. Among the exclusions: resolutions on hydraulic fracturing, drilling in the Arctic election contributions, and the ability of shareholders to nominate board members

    Non Deterministic Zero Divisor Graph

In this paper, we discuss that all the zerodivisor graphs are nondeterministic graph but the converse need not. Also we provide an algorithm for zero divisor graph of n parameters and thereby, explore the given graph is either deterministic or nondeterministic graph using python

A novel method to discover datacenter hardware instantly using software defined grid model

    Get PDF
Hardware (Servers, Storage, Switches) in Research & Development (R&D) datacenters may be used for ongoing research, development, testing, build, qualification and certification, performance, regression testing, resolving customer issues, and the like. Engineers may move the hardware frequently without involving the IT department to meet project requirements and may shutdown the hardware whenever not in use. Currently, there are no solutions available to locate the hardware when it is powered off. It may be useful to detect datacenter hardware instantly, even if the hardware is shutdown, powered off, or exists in an isolated private network. Further, a reporting module capable of reporting hardware location, serial number, configuration details, and the like may also be useful

Multilevel Anti Discrimination and Privacy Preservation Correlativity

    Get PDF
In the fast growing technology, most organizations will need to reveal their crucial data which includes the sensitive information that discloses one’s identity during their business analytics and to provide services. To limit the access to such sensitive data, various privacy preservation techniques are applied based on the level of priority assumed. The multilevel privacy preserved discrimination free data transmission deals with the correlation of discrimination prevention and privacy preservation. By applying appropriate privacy preservation techniques, it can be shown that the discrimination prevention can be easily accomplished along with secure transmission of data to different levels of users. On the basis of sociological aspect, discrimination is the unfair treatment of an individual or group based on their membership on a particular category. So, the decision attribute that leads to discrimination needs to be hided or transformed. The unified discrimination prevention method is available which avoids both direct and indirect discrimination simultaneously or both at the same time. Although discriminatory biases are eliminated, it results in huge data loss which drops down the data transmission efficiency. The data quality is much preserved since encryption technique is included. The proposed system is dynamic in nature and can be implemented in any organization. The experimental evaluation aids us to conclude that the proposed work is efficient for data transmission without discrimination and with maximum privacy preservation. Light Monitoring on a Management Tool

    Get PDF
The objective of this paper is to propose a new design for outdoor lighting system. India is one of the biggest country and the process of lighting infrastructure is handling by humans. Maintenance ofthe infrastructure is facing problems at the time of repairing and updating the process of street lights. The main gist of this paper is to control the lighting infrastructure by servers (monitoring servers like nagios, icinga)and developing a remote management tool(RMT) for the people to access details about street lighting. And the users can leave the notifications, messages, and updates about the lighting through remote management tool. By the reference of the notifications, messages and weekly analysis of the lighting workflow required actions be taken

Energy Efficient Routing Protocols and Efficient Bandwidth Techniques in Underwater Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
The Underwater wireless remote sensors convey messages in a range, where there is no possible human intervention. It is difficult to replace the battery and save energy in an acoustic environment, even solar energy cannot be used to energize batteries.  These sensors are required to work for a long period of time, but they have constrained energy limitation. Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN) have unpleasant surrounding which leads to high energy constraints, low bandwidth, decreased throughput, propagation delay. The speed of the sound also varies, which results in the specific loss. Combined attenuation and noise occurrence result in a typical power spectral density which leads in a decline of 18 dB in the duration of ten years. While packets are being forwarded, the energy consumption must be less or balanced, else energy holes are created. In such cases: the energy efficiency, lifetime and throughput are expanded. In this poster, we have summarized energy based routing protocols with bandwidth efficient techniques
