Energy market design is changing worldwide. Small-scale low carbon electricity generation or so- called Distributed Generation made it possible for neighboring citizens not only to jointly own and operate microgeneration or storage facilities but also be actively involved in the energy market by selling the excess energy and earn a profit. The thesis is investigating the concept of Local Energy Communities from the current regulatory framework and technical point of view mainly assessing capabilities to be flexible on the energy market, meaning delivering or consuming electricity for maintaining the generation-consumption balance and the required grid frequency. Nowadays, thanks to smart meters deployment and sensors' measuring capabilities, the ability to gather data from customers up to the service provider have disrupted the electricity sectors, with the opening of new services and markets. This makes it possible to operate with the energy data more freely and frequently than before. Combining the disruption with new energy data and legislation enabling energy communities operation, this thesis assesses the possibility to make the dispatch and flexibility provision as automatic and “smart” as possible with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques. More precisely, the Master’s Thesis is aiming to answer the following questions regarding Local Energy Communities (LECs): 1. What are LECs and what are the positive and negative aspects of LECs' existence? 2. From Local Energy Community to Smart Local Energy Community - Can ML techniques support LEC to automatically dispatch/ feed energy from/to LEC? How can flexibility be used in the context of LEC? 3. What are the market structures and business models for LEC integration? Which energy market players participate in LEC business area? The thesis is organized as follows: The first part of the thesis is a theoretical part, where the literature review was done. After the general definition and legal introduction in Section 1, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. Different advantages and disadvantages of LECs are reviewed in Sections 2.3 and 2.4. The following section of this thesis presents a brief review of the literature on Big Data foundations and techniques (Section 4). The second part of the thesis is a practical experiment where the author works with a dataset from real households, performs basic data visualization tasks, and performs machine learning-based generation forecasting to evaluate flexibility. The methodology and results are explained in Sections 5 and 6. The last subsection of the given thesis compares different market models of LEC in different countries (Section 7). Main contributions, conclusions, and future work are discussed in Section 8. A representative list of references is provided at the end of the thesis

UNDERSTANDING EXTREME WAVES USING WAVELETS: ANALYSIS, ALGORITHMS, AND NUMERICAL STUDIES

A method for studying extreme wave solutions of the 1+1D nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation (NLSE) with periodic boundary conditions is presented in this work. The existing methods for solving NLSE in the periodic case usually require information about the full period. Obtaining that information may not always be possible, when the experimental data is collected outside laboratory settings. In addition, some NLSE solutions contain fine details and have extremely long periods. As such, a very large mesh would be required in order to apply numerical methods to simulate the propagation of the wave. Finally, as some solutions only experience exponential growth once in their lifetime, the number of time steps necessary to numerically recreate an extreme or Rogue wave may be significant. The way to determine whether a solution is stable with respect to small perturbations or not (in Benjamin-Feir sense) is available in the literature. One relies on representing a solution using Riemann theta functions that depend on a set of parameters which, in particular, can be used to determine stability. An algorithm for finding those parameters is developed and is based on wavelet representation. The existence of wavelet families with compact support allows restricting the analysis of the solution to a given interval and this approach is found to work for the incomplete sets of input data. The implementation of the algorithm requires the evaluation of the integrals of wavelet triple products (triplets). A method to evaluate the values of those triplets analytically is described, which allows one to avoid the necessity of approximating the wavelets numerically. The triplet values could be precomputed independently from the specific problem. This, in turn, allows the implemented algorithm to run on desktop computers. To demonstrate the efficiency of the method, various simulations have been performed by using data obtained by the research group. The algorithm proved to be efficient and robust, correctly processing the input data even with a small-to-moderate noise in the signal, unlike curve-fitting methods that were found to fail in the presence of noise in the input. The analytical basis and algorithms developed in this dissertation can be useful for examining extreme or freak waves that arise in a number of contexts, as well as solutions with localized features in space and time

    HH-product and HH-threshold graphs

This paper is the continuation of the research of the author and his colleagues of the {\it canonical} decomposition of graphs. The idea of the canonical decomposition is to define the binary operation on the set of graphs and to represent the graph under study as a product of prime elements with respect to this operation. We consider the graph together with the arbitrary partition of its vertex set into nn subsets (nn-partitioned graph). On the set of nn-partitioned graphs distinguished up to isomorphism we consider the binary algebraic operation H\circ_H (HH-product of graphs), determined by the digraph HH. It is proved, that every operation H\circ_H defines the unique factorization as a product of prime factors. We define HH-threshold graphs as graphs, which could be represented as the product H\circ_{H} of one-vertex factors, and the threshold-width of the graph GG as the minimum size of HH such, that GG is HH-threshold. HH-threshold graphs generalize the classes of threshold graphs and difference graphs and extend their properties. We show, that the threshold-width is defined for all graphs, and give the characterization of graphs with fixed threshold-width. We study in detail the graphs with threshold-widths 1 and 2

Relevance. The work of medical workers is among the most responsible and complex activities involving risk. In this article conditions of work of doctors and other medical personnel are considered as such risky environment; psychosocial risk factors of medical workers in difficult conditions of struggle against infectious and other diseases are analyzed.Purpose. The authors aim to reveal and analyze the moral and psychological state and labor behavior of medical workers in extreme conditions that create threats and risks to their health. By the nature of their activities, employees of medical institutions should primarily be guided by professional medical codes, but also their moral choice in extreme situations will depend on their own risk assessment and value system.Results. The analysis shows that the situation in the Russian Federation as a whole can be assessed as unfavourable in terms of material and moral-psychological support for medical personnel during mass epidemics and extreme situations. The state must value their work even higher in a crisis situation and provide vital means of epidemiological protection, at least to prevent a specialist from adding to the negative part of statistics during an epidemic when his work is so valuable.Scope of the results. The authors address the problem of improving the Russian health care system taking into account the current situation with the spread of coronavirus epidemic. Through the prism of this approach, the importance of taking into account the assessment of behavioral factors of occupational risk and their perception in the medical environment is emphasized. The importance of preserving the physical and mental health of medical workers as a prerequisite for the success of anti-epidemic measures and making adequate managerial decisions in case of extreme situations is emphasized.
