    The Application of Wavelet Neural Network in the Settlement Monitoring of Subway

    The settlement monitoring of subway runs through the entire construction stage of subway. It is very important to predict the accurate settlement value for construction safety of subway. In this paper, the wavelet transform is used to denoise the settlement data. The auxiliary wavelet neural network, embedded wavelet neural network and single BP neural network are applied to predict the settlement of Tianjin subway. Compared with single BP neural network and auxiliary wavelet neural network, the embedded wavelet neural network model has a higher accuracy and better prediction effect. The embedded wavelet neural network is more valuable than the BP neural network model so it can be used in the prediction of subway settlemen

    Blocking neutrophil integrin activation prevents ischemia-reperfusion injury.

    Neutrophil recruitment, mediated by β2 integrins, combats pyogenic infections but also plays a key role in ischemia-reperfusion injury and other inflammatory disorders. Talin induces allosteric rearrangements in integrins that increase affinity for ligands (activation). Talin also links integrins to actin and other proteins that enable formation of adhesions. Structural studies have identified a talin1 mutant (L325R) that perturbs activation without impairing talin's capacity to link integrins to actin and other proteins. Here, we found that mice engineered to express only talin1(L325R) in myeloid cells were protected from renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Dissection of neutrophil function in vitro and in vivo revealed that talin1(L325R) neutrophils had markedly impaired chemokine-induced, β2 integrin-mediated arrest, spreading, and migration. Surprisingly, talin1(L325R) neutrophils exhibited normal selectin-induced, β2 integrin-mediated slow rolling, in sharp contrast to the defective slow rolling of neutrophils lacking talin1 or expressing a talin1 mutant (W359A) that blocks talin interaction with integrins. These studies reveal the importance of talin-mediated activation of integrins for renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. They further show that neutrophil arrest requires talin recruitment to and activation of integrins. However, although neutrophil slow rolling requires talin recruitment to integrins, talin-mediated integrin activation is dispensable

    A large-scale dataset for end-to-end table recognition in the wild

    Table recognition (TR) is one of the research hotspots in pattern recognition, which aims to extract information from tables in an image. Common table recognition tasks include table detection (TD), table structure recognition (TSR) and table content recognition (TCR). TD is to locate tables in the image, TCR recognizes text content, and TSR recognizes spatial ogical structure. Currently, the end-to-end TR in real scenarios, accomplishing the three sub-tasks simultaneously, is yet an unexplored research area. One major factor that inhibits researchers is the lack of a benchmark dataset. To this end, we propose a new large-scale dataset named Table Recognition Set (TabRecSet) with diverse table forms sourcing from multiple scenarios in the wild, providing complete annotation dedicated to end-to-end TR research. It is the largest and first bi-lingual dataset for end-to-end TR, with 38.1K tables in which 20.4K are in English\, and 17.7K are in Chinese. The samples have diverse forms, such as the border-complete and -incomplete table, regular and irregular table (rotated, distorted, etc.). The scenarios are multiple in the wild, varying from scanned to camera-taken images, documents to Excel tables, educational test papers to financial invoices. The annotations are complete, consisting of the table body spatial annotation, cell spatial logical annotation and text content for TD, TSR and TCR, respectively. The spatial annotation utilizes the polygon instead of the bounding box or quadrilateral adopted by most datasets. The polygon spatial annotation is more suitable for irregular tables that are common in wild scenarios. Additionally, we propose a visualized and interactive annotation tool named TableMe to improve the efficiency and quality of table annotation

    Improving Multi-Person Pose Tracking with A Confidence Network

    Human pose estimation and tracking are fundamental tasks for understanding human behaviors in videos. Existing top-down framework-based methods usually perform three-stage tasks: human detection, pose estimation and tracking. Although promising results have been achieved, these methods rely heavily on high-performance detectors and may fail to track persons who are occluded or miss-detected. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we develop a novel keypoint confidence network and a tracking pipeline to improve human detection and pose estimation in top-down approaches. Specifically, the keypoint confidence network is designed to determine whether each keypoint is occluded, and it is incorporated into the pose estimation module. In the tracking pipeline, we propose the Bbox-revision module to reduce missing detection and the ID-retrieve module to correct lost trajectories, improving the performance of the detection stage. Experimental results show that our approach is universal in human detection and pose estimation, achieving state-of-the-art performance on both PoseTrack 2017 and 2018 datasets.Comment: Accepted by IEEE Transactions on Multimedia. 11 pages, 5 figure

    Taxonomic review of the ant genus Lordomyrma Emery, 1897 (Hymenoptera, Formicidae) from China, with description of two new species and an identification key to the known species of the world

    China is a large country encompassing a wide range of climate zones and bioregions, and hosting several of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. However, even though the country possesses such rich biota, many taxa still remain to be discovered and formally described. In this study we review the myrmicine ant genus Lordomyrma Emery, 1897 from China. We recognize four species for the country, of which we describe two as new: L. bhutanensis (Baroni Urbani, 1977), L. idianale Taylor, 2012, L. jingpo sp. nov., and L. nima sp. nov. In addition, we propose L. sinensis (Ma et al., 2007) syn. nov. as a junior synonym of L. bhutanensis. These nomenclatorial acts raise the global count for the genus to 35 species. Both new species, Lordomyrma jingpo sp. nov. and Lordomyrma nima sp. nov. as well as the queen of L. bhutanensis, which is described for the first time, were collected in Southwestern China. Furthermore, in order to facilitate identification within the genus, we provide an updated key to known species of Lordomyrma in the world

    Proteasome activator 28A: A clinical biomarker and pharmaceutical target in acute cerebral infarction therapy

    Purpose: To determine the dynamic changes in serum levels of PA28α in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI), and to investigate its correlation with infarct size and neurological deficit of the disease. Methods: A total of 100 ACI patients and 100 healthy volunteers were recruited from The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University as case and control groups, respectively. Their serum levels of PA28α were determined by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The potential of PA28α in predicting the incidence of ACI was assessed by plotting ROC curves. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate the risk factors of ACI. In addition, an ACI model in rats was established, and ACI rats were classified into 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 day subgroups based on the duration post-ACI. Rats in the sham group served as control. Results: Serum level of PA28α was significantly higher in ACI patients than in controls. Moreover, the serum level of PA28α at admission was positively correlated to the NIHSS score and infarct volume of ACI patients. The level of PA28α in ACI rats gradually increased post-ACI, reaching a peak on day 7. The number of apoptotic brain cells in ACI rats gradually decreased after ACI. In addition, PA28α level was negatively correlated to the number of apoptotic brain cells in ACI rats (R2 = 0.5148, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The serum level of PA28α is elevated in ACI patients, and is positively correlated to infarct volume and neurological deficit of the disease. The dynamic change in brain cell apoptosis post-ACI is negatively correlated to the serum level of PA28α. These findings may provide theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of ACI

    Amylopectin chain length distribution in grains of japonica rice as affected by nitrogen fertilizer and genotype

    This study investigated the chain length distribution (CLD) of two japonica rice cultivars under six nitrogen (N) treatments by high performance size exclusion chromatography, with the aims to elucidate the effect of N on rice quality and its biological mechanism. Results showed significant influence of N on CLD. In comparison with low N rate, high N lowered the percentage of short amylopectin branches. Fitting with the CLD model of Wu-Gilbert, it suggested that relative activity of SBE to SS was lower at high N rate, thus producing fewer short amylopectin branches. Comparison of CLD between N rates and between cultivars revealed that decrease in short amylopectin branches or the relative ratio of short to long amylopcetin branches correlated with increase in flour gelatinization temperatures (T, T, and T) and decrease in pasting values (except PaT) and amylose-lipid gelatinization temperatures. In addition, quality traits of Wuyujing3, a cultivar with premium eating quality, expressed stably across N treatments compared with the high-yielding cultivar Wuyunjing7

    Geological characterization of a lower Cambrian marine shale: implications for shale gas potential in North-Western Hunan, South China

    We have investigated the geologic features of the lower Cambrian-aged Niutitang Shale in the northwestern Hunan province of South China. Our results indicate that the Niutitang Shale has abundant and highly mature algal kerogen with total organic carbon (TOC) content ranging from 0.6% to 18.2%. The equivalent vitrinite reflectance (equal-Ro) value is between 2.5% and 4.3%. Mineral constituents are dominated by quartz and clay. The average quartz content (62.8%) is much higher than that of clay minerals (26.1%), and this suggests a high brittleness index. Organic-matter pores, interparticle pores, intraparticle pores, interlaminated fractures, and structural fractures are all well developed. The porosity ranges from 0.6% to 8.8%, with an average of 4.8%, whereas the permeability varies from 0.0018 to [Formula: see text] (microdarcy) (averaging [Formula: see text]). The porosity of TOC- and clay-rich shale samples is generally higher than that of quartz-rich shale samples. The gas adsorption capacity of the Niutitang Shale varies from 2.26 to [Formula: see text], with a mean value of [Formula: see text]. The TOC content appears to significantly influence gas adsorption capacity. In general, TOC-rich samples exhibit a much higher adsorption capacity than TOC-poor samples. </jats:p

    Effects of rice or wheat residue retention on the quality of milled japonica rice in a rice–wheat rotation system in China

    AbstractIn rice–wheat rotation systems, crop straw is usually retained in the field at land preparation in every, or every other, season. We conducted a 3-year-6-season experiment in the middle–lower Yangtze River Valley to compare the grain qualities of rice under straw retained after single or double seasons per year. Four treatments were designed as: both wheat and rice straw retained (WR), only rice straw retained (R), only wheat straw retained (W), and no straw retained (CK). The varieties were Yangmai 16 wheat and Wuyunjing 23 japonica rice. The results showed contrasting effects of W and R on rice quality. Amylopectin content, peak viscosity, cool viscosity, and breakdown viscosity of rice grain were significantly increased in W compared to the CK, whereas gelatinization temperature, setback viscosity, and protein content significantly decreased. In addition, the effect of WR on rice grain quality was similar to that of W, although soil fertility was enhanced in WR due to straw being retained in two cycles. The differences in protein and starch contents among the treatments might result from soil nitrogen supply. These results indicate that wheat straw retained in the field is more important for high rice quality than rice straw return, and straw from both seasons is recommended for positive effects on soil fertility
