Crowdfunding in Russia : an empirical study

The beginning of crowdfunding in Russia is associated with a launch of the crowdfunding platform for creative projects Kroogi. Although it has been 10 years since Kroogi was established, we have to admit that crowdfunding in Russia remains a comparatively small and local market. Definitely, the Russian crowdfunding industry has experienced substantial fluctuations, but nowadays it shows sustainable growth and both market players and the regulator believe in its prospective, so that new players appear, new regulations are expected. In 2017, the biggest Russian crowdfunding platform Planeta.ru celebrated its fifth anniversary and claimed to have raised over 770 million Russian rubles. Still, the rate of successfully funded projects is rather low. To improve the situation it is necessary to find out which crowdfunding projects potential backers are more willing to support. Within the scope of this paper we provide quantitative analysis of open data on 9 179 projects divided by 15 categories from two largest non-equity-based crowdfunding platforms in Russia. The key findings demonstrate the total funding, the largest categories by number of projects, most popular categories within the backers support, the sum of average pledges. Issues for further research and discussion are identified including factors of project success and backers’ motivation.peer-reviewe

Interaction of Higher Education and Employers As a Competitiveness Factor of a University

The labor market constantly demands qualified personnel and increases the requirements for graduates of educational establishments. In order to train a competitive young professional, universities seek modernization of various kinds and implement it in the educational process. Dual form of education is one of these efforts undertaken by educational institutions. The article presents the results of the semantic analysis of the dual education concept, an analysis of the stakeholders’ roles in the system of higher education with a large emphasis on the role of the employer, statistical data collection, and the main advantages and disadvantages of the dual approach to the educational process organization. The aim of the study is to analyze experience of dual education development in Germany, where it is regulated at the legislative level. The main advantages of dual education are identified: establishing practice-oriented training system, involving motivated employers in the training process and educational programs designing, alternating the theoretical and on-the-job training, and reducing the costs associated with personnel selection and adaptation. The study has developed a generalized process model for the implementation of the project ”Introduction of the dual form of education in an educational organization”. According to the proposed model, the first stage includes developing normative acts regulating dual education training, forming a team of mentors, and selecting students. At the second stage, the authors propose to distribute the contact work as follows: 60% for theoretical training and 40% for production-based. The final stage is devoted to the evaluation of the of the dual education system implementation effectiveness. The model was tested for the Novouralsk Institute of Technology — branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. Simultaneous quantification of actin monomer and filament dynamics with modelling assisted analysis of photoactivation

Photoactivation allows one to pulse-label molecules and obtain quantitative data about their behavior. We have devised a new modeling-based analysis for photoactivatable actin experiments that simultaneously measures properties of monomeric and filamentous actin in a three-dimensional cellular environment. We use this method to determine differences in the dynamic behavior of β- and γ-actin isoforms, showing that both inhabit filaments that depolymerize at equal rates but that β-actin exists in a higher monomer-to-filament ratio. We also demonstrate that cofilin (cofilin 1) equally accelerates depolymerization of filaments made from both isoforms, but is only required to maintain the β-actin monomer pool. Finally, we used modeling-based analysis to assess actin dynamics in axon-like projections of differentiating neuroblastoma cells, showing that the actin monomer concentration is significantly depleted as the axon develops. Importantly, these results would not have been obtained using traditional half-time analysis. Given that parameters of the publicly available modeling platform can be adjusted to suit the experimental system of the user, this method can easily be used to quantify actin dynamics in many different cell types and subcellular compartments

Digital Marketing Communications: Selection Criteria

This article discusses the concepts of digital and internet marketing and analyzes the classification of digital marketing communications. The purpose of the study is to develop criteria, a methodological approach to selecting the most appropriate digital marketing tools for a particular enterprise and market, and a system of indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of the marketing communications complex. The methodological approach is applied to small businesses in the retail market of cut flowers. For a specific company digital advertising, launching an internet site, maintaining social networks and search marketing were selected. Calculations of marketing communications performance indicators have shown that the use of digital marketing tools leads to a positive financial result. The survey has established that digital marketing is broader than internet marketing and includes the following media channels: social media marketing, digital television, content marketing, e-mail marketing, web site, SEO, Banner Ads, mobile marketing, streaming platforms, digital billboards. For specific purposes and markets it is sufficient to use not all, but part of the digital communication tools. The criteria for their selection are proposed: the marketing budget, the goals of the marketing strategy, the age of the audience, the competence of the company’s staff and the frequency of use of digital marketing tools. To assess the effectiveness of digital marketing communications a system of indicators is proposed that includes such indicators as: ROMI (Return on Marketing Investment), site traffic; profitability of sales on the Internet, increase in net profit, NPV (Net Present Value), popularity of certain pages of the site; information about the sources of transition to the site; duration of stay on the site; triggers for performing targeted actions; conversion and Web Analytics indexes. External Risk Factors Influence on the Financial Stability of Construction Companies

The modern conditions of construction companies' activities in Russia are influenced by various processes: developing globalization, limitation of free trade due to economic sanctions, man-made disasters growth, worldwide digitalization, constantly evolving technologies. The purpose of this study is to develop a model for assessing risk factors' impact on the financial stability of construction companies using regression analysis based on dependencies between risk factors and financial stability of construction companies on the basis of statistical data over the past 10 years. The following methods were used: questioning of owners and key employees in construction companies on the indicators choice that characterize external risk factors, correlation analysis, regression analysis, expert evaluation method, trend line method. As a result it was revealed that in order to create favorable conditions for the construction companies' growth, a stable legislative base, a stable ruble rate and an activation of investments in fixed assets are needed. The proposed tool for assessing external risk factors and their impact on the construction companies' financial sustainability can be used both to assess the organization's environment and to assess various risk situations in order to further use the results in decision-making

OPPORTUNITIES FOR USING DIGITAL DATA IN EVIDENCE FOR CRIMINAL CASES

The purpose of the study is to determine the reasons that hinder the development of digital elements in evidence in criminal proceedings and detect opportunities for their broader introduction. The authors investigate the current status of the introduction of elements of digitalization in the handling of evidence in criminal proceedings in the Russian Federation. The study explores the positive experience of countries that have greatly succeeded in the promotion of digital data in the handling of evidence and the evidentiary process. The authors disclose opportunities to extrapolate positive international experience in the digitalization of the evidentiary sphere to the Russian judicial system. It is concluded that the traditional formalization of criminal proceedings, including the evidentiary process, is greatly complicating the introduction of digital technology today.
