    Los festejos de aniversario por la creación de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) siempre han sido muy significativos en la ciudad de Toluca, donde se concentra la mayor parte de la comunidad universitaria, y el 60 Aniversario resulta ser muy especial, debido al enorme impulso que la administración del Rector Jorge Olvera García ha dado a la identidad y a la internacionalización de la UAEM; coincide con el 20 Aniversario del Centro Universitario UAEM Valle de Mèxico (CU UAEM VM), y ambos nos recuerdan que su comunidad pertenece a una gran institución orgullosamente pública. Resulta muy importante la celebración en cada uno de los organismos, facultades, centros universitarios y unidades académicas profesionales que conforman la UAEM, para que toda la población mexiquense perciba el resplandor de su “Enjambre de lumbre”

    El miércoles 18 de noviembre del 2015, dentro del auditorio universitario, el público contemplaba las imágenes que se proyectaban en la pantalla, con los hermosos paisajes de la accidentada geografía en Centroamérica. Nos deslumbraban las bellas costas y los bosques tropicales protegidos para preservar los ecosistemas donde se practica el turismo sustentable, una fuente importante de recursos económicos. Entonces la música sonó, recordándonos los ritmos de nuestra región del sureste, sí, porque eran sonidos familiares para nosotros. En seguida aparecieron los bailarines ataviados con coloridos trajes, y al tiempo que marcaba la música, las mujeres tomaban sus faldas y las agitaban elegantemente de un lado a otro, mientras que los hombres movían sus pañuelos enérgicamente para acompañarlas

    El presente artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una visión general de la Justicia Ambiental, en sus dimensiones práctica y teórica. En la primera vertiente, este concepto designa a un movimiento social surgido en Estados Unidos, a principios de los años 80 del siglo pasado, como reacción contra el racismo ambiental. En su dimensión teórica, se trata de una amplia corriente epistemológica y axiológica que estudia los procesos de discriminación en el acceso a los recursos naturales y en la carga de contaminación. Este marco teórico, del que se presenta aquí una propuesta, incorpora nociones de la ecología política, la justicia intergeneracional o el concepto de responsabilidad ampliada jonesianoThis paperwork intends to present a general perspective of Environmental Justice in both its practical and theoretical dimensions. Regarding the first one, the concept defines a social movement originated in the United States at the beginning of the 1980´s, as a reaction against the environmental racism. On its theoretical dimension, it is a doctrinal tendency formed by a wide group of legal, political and ethical notions. It analyzes the processes of discrimination in the access to natural resources as in the burden of contamination.     Branded apps in Spain as a means of communicating trends in fashion

    Apps are of great interest and curiosity for the users of mobile phones, being already highly unloaded and used for the users of smartphones. The fashion mobile applications represent only a fraction of the mobile global applications (almost 0,2 %), nevertheless they are starting to deserve special attention from designers and researchers in this area. Brands want to know about the new trends in the market to be able to continue surprising and impressing their public. In this study, we seek to identify the most relevant aspects of the applications that help to improve the image of the Spanish prêt-à-porter fashion brands such as Zara, Pull and Bear, Stradivarius, Shana, Bimba y Lola,... The study considers the position in the ranking of downloads, the category, the opinions, valuations of the users and the criteria described by Jami Lawrence (2010): amusement, saving of time and / or comfort in the use. Findings: In this analysis, we seek to identify the most relevant aspects of the applications that help to improve the image of the brand, in this particular case of the Spanish prêt-à-porter fashion brands. - It is indispensable that the applications entertain the user, save time and / or comfort, we have observed that they are these characteristics those that are valued by the users. - Another factor that is valued in the applications, is that the application should make sense for the user and to have an added value that doesn't necessarily have to be related with the nature of the brand. - But it is important that applications to be developed have to be coherent with the identity of the brand. As in any other area, the appearance of new mass media, like the mobile, is the introduction of new challenges. – Finally, it is important for the brand to adapt constantly to the new technologies, but we must not forget that a precarious incorporation and badly developed app it can be more harmful than beneficial

    Proposal of a dynamic performance index to analyze driving pattern effect on car emissions

    The contributions of driver behaviour as well as surrounding infrastructure are decisive on pollutant emissions from vehicles in real traffic situations. This article deals with the preliminary study of the interaction between the dynamic variables recorded in a vehicle (driving pattern) and pollutant emissions produced over a given urban route. It has been established a “dynamic performance index”-DPI, which is calculated from some driving pattern parameters, which in turn depends on traffic congestion level and route characteristics, in order to determine whether the driving has been aggressive, normal or calm. Two passenger cars instrumented with a portable activity measurement system -to record dynamic variables- and on-board emission measurement equipment have been used. This study has shown that smooth driving patterns can reduce up to 80% NOX emissions and up to 20% of fuel in the same rout

    Assessment of mortar evolution in pig slurry by mechanical and ultrasonic measurements

    This work presents the results obtained in a long-term experiment focused on the study of the evolution of cementitious materials immersed in pig slurry at real conditions. Cement mortars were made with four different cement types and immersed in pig slurry for 48 months. Furthermore, to separate pure hydration process from pig slurry effect, mortar samples were immersed in water for 12 months at laboratory conditions. Compressive strength, X-ray diffraction and ultrasonic measurements were made in all samples. Ultrasonic measurements were made from ultrasonic images obtained from automatic ultrasonic inspections. Use of ultrasonic images has allowed the extraction of information about the state of the studied materials. An empirical relationship between ultrasonic velocity and compressive strength has been obtained and the long-term effect of pig slurry on cementitious materials has been determined

    Bootstrap testing for cross-correlation under low firing activity

    A new cross-correlation synchrony index for neural activity is proposed. The index is based on the integration of the kernel estimation of the cross-correlation function. It is used to test for the dynamic synchronization levels of spontaneous neural activity under two induced brain states: sleep-like and awake-like. Two bootstrap resampling plans are proposed to approximate the distribution of the test statistics. The results of the first bootstrap method indicate that it is useful to discern significant differences in the synchronization dynamics of brain states characterized by a neural activity with low firing rate. The second bootstrap method is useful to unveil subtle differences in the synchronization levels of the awake-like state, depending on the activation pathway.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure

    Layer Selection in Progressive Transmission of Motion-Compensated JPEG2000 Video

    MCJ2K (Motion-Compensated JPEG2000) is a video codec based on MCTF (Motion- Compensated Temporal Filtering) and J2K (JPEG2000). MCTF analyzes a sequence of images, generating a collection of temporal sub-bands, which are compressed with J2K. The R/D (Rate-Distortion) performance in MCJ2K is better than the MJ2K (Motion JPEG2000) extension, especially if there is a high level of temporal redundancy. MCJ2K codestreams can be served by standard JPIP (J2K Interactive Protocol) servers, thanks to the use of only J2K standard file formats. In bandwidth-constrained scenarios, an important issue in MCJ2K is determining the amount of data of each temporal sub-band that must be transmitted to maximize the quality of the reconstructions at the client side. To solve this problem, we have proposed two rate-allocation algorithms which provide reconstructions that are progressive in quality. The first, OSLA (Optimized Sub-band Layers Allocation), determines the best progression of quality layers, but is computationally expensive. The second, ESLA (Estimated-Slope sub-band Layers Allocation), is sub-optimal in most cases, but much faster and more convenient for real-time streaming scenarios. An experimental comparison shows that even when a straightforward motion compensation scheme is used, the R/D performance of MCJ2K competitive is compared not only to MJ2K, but also with respect to other standard scalable video codecs

    La integración agroecológica diversificada permite mayor eficiencia, uso racional de recursos, complementando la agricultura y pecuaria y el campesino logra, con recursos propios ser menos vulnerable ante el cambio climático y ataque de plagas. Se presentan resultados de la finca “Las Palmitas” en Villanueva, Las Tunas, en 16.4 ha., con objetivo de diversificar e integrar la producción para lograr alimentos sanos, libres de agrotóxicos de forma eficiente y sostenible, y uso racional de recursos internos. Sobre suelo fersialítico, precipitación de 1150mm/año (15 % en seca), 2 pozos, 500 m. de río, áreas forrajeras, gramíneas leguminosas naturalizadas y mejoradas y trabajan dos hombres y una mujer. Se desarrollan 156 árboles/ha, cercas vivas, más de 30 melíferas (1 tonelada/año), 25 frutales, 10 forestales, 19 especies animales, como abejas, ovino-caprino, vacunos, 10 equinos, conejos (5 reproductoras), aves (gallinas criollas), cerdos, 10 cuyes, patos, ocas, 8 parejas de gallina guinea y 10 pavos criollos. Las producciones permiten el autoabastecimiento familiar y venta de excedentes. Se obtienen más de veinte (20) productos, alta biodiversidad, uso racional de los recursos y disminuye la dependencia externa. En 2012 se produjeron: 12 mil litros de leche, 2.75 t. de carne vacuna, 0.5 de caprina, 0.5 de ovina, 0.3 de cerdo, 0.1 de aves y 600 huevos, vivero de cerca de 20 mil plantas de café, guayaba, anonáceas, moringa y otras, que apoyan a unidades en la provincia. Las producciones se complementan, sin uso de agrotóxicos, los restos de cosecha sirven para la alimentación animal y barreras anti erosivas, el estiércol se emplea como fertilizante y disminuye el ataque de plagas. Se alimenta mayor número de personas, con eficiencia en todos los sentidos. Recomendamos divulgar esta experiencia y extenderla a otras fincas, por lo que representa para lograr una verdadera soberanía agroalimentaria
