This article was organized through the Master's thesis focuses on the theme is "Public Policy Education: an analysis of the National Policy on Student Assistance in the context of the Federal University of Triangulo Mineiro - UFTM". Interest in the issue is linked to the educational public policies having as object of study implementation. The goal is to demonstrate the ways how is the implementation of student assistance policy and its political and social conditions. The theoretical reference framework is based on critical social theory that seeks the arrest of the historical process of social relations, reflecting on educational policies

Essays On Banking And Credit Markets

This dissertation focuses on two themes in the field of empirical banking. First, the importance of credit relationships for corporations experiencing financial distress; second, the relevance of credit market structure for the price and non-price terms associated with the provision of credit. The first chapter investigates whether relationship lending helps firms experiencing idiosyncratic financial distress. By constructing a novel dataset on syndicated lending that tracks the availability and pricing of credit for US corporate borrowers over three decades, I conclude that relationship lending benefits borrowers in distress. Specifically, I find that relationship lenders provide a higher credit amount, charge lower interest rates, and require similar collateral and fees, relative to non-relationship lenders. Firms benefit from relationship lending irrespective of their access to outside financing options. Overall, my findings provide support to theories of implicit commitment and reputational capital in lending relationships. The second chapter focuses on the importance of bank specialization in monitoring specific projects for the design of loan contracts. Using detailed information on credit relationships in the US syndicated loan market, I first document that banks specialize in lending to specific industries. Specialization is common across industries and persistent over time. Then, I provide evidence that specialized banks provide credit with looser restrictions (covenants) and at lower cost (interest rates) when arranging loans in their sector of specialization. This is consistent with an explanation of bank specialization based on monitoring advantages. Overall, the laxer contract terms offered by specialized banks could provide an explanation for recent evidence that firms cannot easily substitute credit granted by specialized banks

With advent of the ecological crisis launched today, the society come across the greatest challenge in terms of changing their actions tackle this issue. Faced with this crisis which we consider environmental, the Social Service that as a profession is part of the fabric of social relations, must not remain silent on this issue. The purpose of this study is based on the analysis of the environmental issue in current times in a contextualization socio-historical, as well as about the possibility of the profession contribute from acting as educators and sensitizing environmental issue

Identification of Membrane Proteins in the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Pyrococcus Furiosus Using Proteomics and Prediction Programs

Cell-free extracts from the hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus were separated into membrane and cytoplasmic fractions and each was analyzed by 2D-gel electrophoresis. A total of 66 proteins were identified, 32 in the membrane fraction and 34 in the cytoplasmic fraction. Six prediction programs were used to predict the subcellular locations of these proteins. Three were based on signal-peptides (SignalP, TargetP, and SOSUISignal) and three on transmembrane-spanning α-helices (TSEG, SOSUI, and PRED-TMR2). A consensus of the six programs predicted that 23 of the 32 proteins (72%) from the membrane fraction should be in the membrane and that all of the proteins from the cytoplasmic fraction should be in the cytoplasm. Two membrane-associated proteins predicted to be cytoplasmic by the programs are also predicted to consist primarily of transmembrane-spanning β-sheets using porin protein models, suggesting that they are, in fact, membrane components. An ATPase subunit homolog found in the membrane fraction, although predicted to be cytoplasmic, is most likely complexed with other ATPase subunits in the membrane fraction. An additional three proteins predicted to be cytoplasmic but found in the membrane fraction, may be cytoplasmic contaminants. These include a chaperone homolog that may have attached to denatured membrane proteins during cell fractionation. Omitting these three proteins would boost the membrane-protein predictability of the models to near 80%. A consensus prediction using all six programs for all 2242 ORFs in the P. furiosus genome estimates that 24% of the ORF products are found in the membrane. However, this is likely to be a minimum value due to the programs’ inability to recognize certain membrane-related proteins, such as subunits associated with membrane complexes and porin-type proteins
