Should Nursing Education Programs Be Stressful?

Our research involves identifying the main causes of stress in Nursing Students from Traditional Programs and developing interventions to limit the effect these stressors have on the educational experience of becoming a Registered Nurse. We are conducting this research through a narrative literature review, where articles are used as references in order to draw to a conclusion on how the “stress environment” within nursing curriculum could be decreased and ultimately better utilize the Nursing Care Model. Business Leaders Marketing to Bottom-of-the-Pyramid Consumers in Nigeria

Business leaders often leave more than half of the world\u27s population the bottom of the pyramid (BOP), a $5-trillion market of potential consumers untapped for products and services on account of failing to see BOP markets as profitable for business, yet business leaders who have managed inclusive BOP marketing in Nigeria have experienced profit margins as high as 120%. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies of business leaders who market to BOP consumers in Nigeria and maintain a profit. The study population consisted of 3 business leaders in the Dallas and Fort Worth metropolitan area who marketed to BOP consumers in Nigeria and maintained a profit. The conceptual framework that grounded the study was BOP marketing theory. Data were collected through semistructured in-depth interviews and company documents, with member checking implemented to strengthen creditability and trustworthiness. Based on the methodological triangulation of the data sources collected, 3 emergent themes were identified following 5 stages of data analysis. The themes were (a) maintain low profit margins in marketing essential items to the BOP in Nigeria, (b) maintain high profit margins in marketing to the non-BOP in Nigeria, and (c) market scaled-down products to the BOP in Nigeria. The findings from this study may contribute to social change by providing insights and strategies for business leaders seeking to prepare for and sustain profitability. The data from this study may contribute to higher profit margins for business leaders as well as job placement and entrepreneurship opportunities for the communities of Nigeria

Investigating the Electrodeposition of Plutonium and Curium for Safeguarding the Electrorefiner

This research investigated the electrochemical deposition behavior of plutonium (Pu) and curium (Cm) for safeguarding the electrorefiner (ER) in a pyroprocessing facility. The main goal of this investigation was to evaluate the feasibility of using a safeguards concept called the neutron balance method to account for Pu in the ER. The neutron balance method relies on a known Pu/Cm ratio and measures neutrons from Cm-244 coming into and leaving a unit operation to track Pu. The application of the neutron balance approach for pyroprocessing facilities requires that Pu and Cm remain together in all extraction, product recovery, and waste streams. The electrochemical deposition experiments conducted, using a surrogate system of Tb and Gd, revealed that the Tb to Gd ratio was inconsistent between the electrolyte and the cathode deposit under different electrolyte concentrations. The Enhanced REFIN with Anodic Dissolution (ERAD) computer simulations of the same Tb/Gd surrogate system also found that the Tb to Gd ratio varied. ERAD simulations of a large-scale pilot facility also revealed that the Pu to Cm ratio was not constant between the electrolyte salt and the metal deposit when Pu co-deposition occurs. The safeguards assessment concluded that the neutron balance method was an insufficient safeguards approach for the eletrorefiner and working under the assumption that the Pu/Cm ratio was invariable resulted in the loss of significant quantities of special nuclear material (SNM) after processing only a few batches

Addressing Students Stress Levels in Nursing Education Programs

Eustress or good stress is beneficial, as it gives a burst of energy and help us to be motivated, perform task more efficiently and even boost memory. Bad stress can be described as anxiety provoking and if it takes place habitually, it can lead to health problems (ULifeline, 2019). For this reason, excessive stress has a delirious effect on the overall health of any individual. It is primarily a physical response defined by the Stress Management Society (SMS) (2017). The article further explained that when an individual is stressed, the body shifts into the “fight or flight” response that allows blood flow to divert from the brain to important muscles needed to fight or flee (SMS, 2017) .The body under this constant mechanism can be detrimental to one’s health as it can lead to individuals having an inability to cope with stressors associated with work, school, and home (SMS, 2017). Additionally, persons could have lapse in judgment of constantly being in an overwhelmed state of mind that enables them to not “think straight”, and to not perform to one’s highest capabilities (SMS, 2017). Stress attributes to individuals experiencing insomnia, fatigue, headaches, upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, aches and pain, frequent colds and fever, moreover, sometimes lose their ability to perform sexually (Segal et al. 2018). These symptoms under any circumstance prevent individuals from being productive and has visibly shown that it reduces the capabilities for a person to learn and retain any material

Deconstructing Motherhood: A critique of the legal regulation of surrogacy

Surrogacy has been a point of contention for feminists and others since the 1980s. More recently surrogacy has developed a heightened profile within the media, imposing further scrutiny upon the social and legal perspective on motherhood. The legal framework surrounding surrogacy and, in particular, its construction of motherhood is a key area of concern. Surrogacy openly, and obviously, challenges the hetero-normative family form. Subsequently, surrogacy is the ideal lens through which to observe the legal framework surrounding mothers as this practice reflects the socially adaptable nature of motherhood. This thesis argued that the legal regulation of surrogacy frames motherhood as a hetero-normative concept which is open to, and ready for, challenge. This legal construction of motherhood, in the context of surrogacy, is in conflict with social understandings of motherhood. In other words, the way that surrogacy is currently regulated does not reflect the lived experiences of motherhood and requires urgent reform. The legal conceptualisation of motherhood should reflect the social experience of mothers. It is crucial that societal and legal doctrines of motherhood coincide to present a comprehensive understanding. This will ensure that women’s choices to engage with motherhood in the context of surrogacy are observed and protected. It is argued that contract law provides possible solutions to the difficult relationship between surrogacy and motherhood, helping to re-envision the legal hetero-normative framework currently governing familial structure and women’s choices. The introduction of surrogacy contracts will offer greater legal recognition to non-normative families which are so prevalent within contemporary society. The social reality of motherhood should be the starting point from which to develop a new legal framework. This improved legal framework should incorporate alternative regulatory methods to fully address feminist concerns about women, maternity and the law
