X-ray Evolution of Pulsar Wind Nebulae

During the search for counterparts of very-high-energy gamma-ray sources, we serendipitously discovered large, extended, low surface brightness emission from PWNe around pulsars with the ages up to ~100 kyrs, a discovery made possible by the low and stable background of the Suzaku X-ray satellite. A systematic study of a sample of 8 of these PWNe, together with Chandra datasets, has revealed us that the nebulae keep expanding up to for ~100 kyrs, although time scale of the synchrotron X-ray emission is only ~60 yr for typical magnetic fields of 100 microG. Our result suggests that the accelerated electrons up to ~80 TeV can escape from the PWNe without losing most energies. Moreover, in order to explain the observed correlation between the X-ray size and the pulsar spindwon age, the magnetic field strength in the PWNe must decrease with time.Comment: 11 pages, 17 figures, ApJL, in pres

In situ UHVEM study of {113}-defect formation in Si nanowires

Results are presented of a study of {113}-defect formation in vertical Si nanowire n-type tunnel field effect transistors with nanowire diameters ranging from 40 to 500 nm. The nanowires are etched into an epitaxial moderately As doped n-type layer grown on a heavily As doped n(+) Si substrate. p(+) contacts on the nanowire are created by epitaxial growth of a heavily B doped layer. Using focused ion beam cutting, samples for irradiation are prepared with different thicknesses so that the nanowires are fully or partially embedded in the sample thickness. {113}-defects are created in situ by 2 MeV e-irradiation in an ultra-high voltage electron microscope between room temperature and 375 degrees C. The observations are discussed in the frame of intrinsic point defect properties, taking into account the role of dopants and capping layers. Gambaran Tingkat Kepuasan Pasien Terhadap Pelayanan di Instalasi Rawat Inap Ruang B2 THT & Kulit Kelamin RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang

Pada Januari 2012 instalasi rawat inap Ruang B2 THT & Kulit Kelamin mendapatkan nominasi ruang rawat inap dengan penilaian paling buruk dalam aspek dimensi pelayanan di RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. Tujuanpenelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan. Penelitian ini survei deskriptif yang dianalisis secara univariat terhadap dimensi pelayanan tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, dan emphaty berdasarkan usia, pendidikan, dan pekerjaan. Sampel sebanyak 70 responden. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik total sampling. Hasil analisis univariat dari 70 pasien didapatkan sebagian besar responden merasa puas (77,1%) terhadap keseluruhan dimensi pelayanan. Data tangible menunjukkan: pada usia ≥56 tahun 10 responden (66,7%) merasa puas, dengan pendidikan lanjutan 26 responden (65%) merasa puas, pada kelompok tidak bekerja 7 responden (63,6%) merasa puas. Data reliability menunjukkan: pada usia ≥56 tahun 10 responden (66,7%) merasa puas, dengan pendidikan lanjutan 17 responden (42,5%)merasa puas, pada kelompok tidak bekerja 7 responden (63,6%) merasa puas. Data responsiveness  menunjukkan: pada usia ≥56 tahun 8 responden (53,3%) merasa puas, dengan pendidikan lanjutan 22 responden (55%) merasa puas, pada kelompok bekerja 32 responden (54,2%) merasa puas. Data assurance menunjukkan: pada usia 15-55 tahun 42 responden (76,4%) merasa puas, dengan pendidikan lanjutan 30 responden (75%) merasa puas, pada kelompok bekerja 44 responden (74,6%) merasa puas. Data emphaty menunjukkan: pada usia 15-55 tahun 41 responden (74,5%) merasa puas, dengan pendidikan wajib 22 responden (73,3%) merasa puas, pada kelompok bekerja 43 responden (72,9%) merasa puas.  Sebagian besar responden merasa puas terhadap keseluruhan dimensi pelayanan di instalasi rawat inap Ruang B2 THT & Kulit Kelamin RSUP Dr. KariadiSemarang.
