Effect of Gr Contents on Wear Properties of Al2024/MgO/Al2O3/Gr Hybrid Composites
In the present study, hybrid metal matrix composites, Al2024/10Al2O3, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO, Al2024/10Al2O3/6MgO, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO/1.5 Gr, Al2024/10Al2O3/3MgO/3Gr, and reinforcement samples (AA 2024) produced with powder metallurgy process. AA 2024 and reinforcement powders were determined mixture rations and separately mixed during 30 minutes in a three-dimensional Turbula mixer. The mixed compositions were pressed at 300 MPa and sintered at 550°C during 1 h. After that, three materials were extruded at the same temperature. Experimental results show that hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMCs) a better wear resistance than the reinforcement samples because of higher hardness. Gr behave as a lubricant during wear process. The wear resistance of HMMCs can be optimized with controlling of the reinforcement content and type. © 2018 The Authors
CMS search plans and sensitivity to new physics with dijets
CMS will use dijets to search for physics beyond the standard model during
early LHC running. The inclusive jet cross section as a function of jet
transverse momentum, with 10 inverse picobarns of integrated luminosity, is
sensitive to contact interactions beyond the reach of the Tevatron. The dijet
mass distribution will be used to search for dijet resonances coming from new
particles, for example an excited quark. Additional sensitivity to the
existence of contact interactions or dijet resonances can be obtained by

Effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculation on the quality and in vitro gas production of einkorn wheat straw
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) inoculation on the quality of einkorn wheat straw (EWS) and in vitro gas production (GP). It was found that AM inoculation of EW seed before sowing caused significant increases in crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and iron (Fe) levels of straw, and a (P <0.05) decrease in crude ash (CA), metabolizable energy (ME), and organic matter digestibility (OMD) compared with the straw of non-inoculated EW. The observed difference in the average GP among the between EWS from plants grown from inoculated seed and those from the untreated control was significant at all times between the third and 96th hour. However, when the GP kinetics of the groups was examined after 96 hours’ incubation, only the difference in the gas amount of the easily soluble fractions of feeds was significant. The GP from the slowly fermented part, the GP rate constant and the potential GP of the straws were not affected by the AM inoculation (P >0.05). Thus, inoculation of einkorn wheat with AM altered the nutritional value of the straw produced creating a roughage with decreased value for feeding ruminant livestock.

Arbuscular mycorrhizae inoculation of einkorn wheat affects fatty acid, nutrient and mineral concentrations
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizae (AM) inoculation, which was administered to increase the quality of einkorn wheat in its fatty acid composition, quality and mineral concentration. Wheat grown from AM inoculated seed (AM+) had increased the dry matter (DM), iron (Fe), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), especially oleic acid, and alpha-linolenic acid, and cis-5,-8,-11,-14, and cis-17 eicosapentaenoic acid from polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) (P <0.05), but decreased crude ash (CA), potassium (K), and total saturated fatty acids (UFA), especially myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and monounsaturated fatty acids, especially cis-palmitoleic acid, cis-10-heptadecenoic acid, cis-11 eicosenoic acid, erucic acid, and linoleic acid (P <0.05) compared with einkorn wheat grown from non-inoculated seed (AM-). Crude protein (CP) content ranged from 10.56% to 10.68%, and ether extract (EE) content varied between 2.03% and 2.41%, neither of which was significantly different between treatments. Significant increases were observed in UFA, and in the ratios of UFA to SFA and PUFA to SFA in AM+ compared with AM-.

Bicocycle Double Cross Constructions
We introduce the notion of a bicocycle double cross product (resp. sum) Lie
group (resp. Lie algebra), and a bicocycle double cross product bialgebra,
generalizing the unified products. On the level of Lie groups the construction
yields a Lie group on the product space of two pointed manifolds, none of which
being necessarily a subgroup. On the level of Lie algebras, similarly, a Lie
algebra is obtained on the direct sum of two vector spaces, none of which is
required to be a subalgebra. Finally, on the quantum level the theory presents
a bialgebra, on the tensor product of two (co)algebras that are not necessarily

Nanotransfer Printing of Organic and Carbon Nanotube Thin-Film Transistors on Plastic Substrates
A printing process for high-resolution transfer of all components for organic
electronic devices on plastic substrates has been developed and demonstrated
for pentacene (Pn), poly (3-hexylthiophene) and carbon nanotube (CNT) thin-film
transistors (TFTs). The nanotransfer printing process allows fabrication of an
entire device without exposing any component to incompatible processes and with
reduced need for special chemical preparation of transfer or device substrates.
Devices on plastic substrates include a Pn TFT with a saturation, field-effect
mobility of 0.09 cm^2 (Vs)^-1 and on/off ratio approximately 10^4 and a CNT TFT

Transmission Line Impedance of Carbon Nanotube Thin Films for Chemical Sensing
We measure the resistance and frequency-dependent gate capacitance of carbon
nanotube (CNT) thin films in ambient, vacuum, and under low-pressure (10E-6
torr) analyte environments. We model the CNT film as an RC transmission line
and show that changes in the measured capacitance as a function of gate bias
and analyte pressure are consistent with changes in the transmission line
impedance due to changes in the CNT film resistivity alone; the electrostatic
gate capacitance of the CNT film does not depend on gate voltage or chemical
analyte adsorption. However, the CNT film resistance is enormously sensitive to

Androgen receptor mutations in prostate cancer
We analyzed the frequency and relevance of mutations in the coding region of the androgen receptor (AR) in genomic DNA extracted from 137 specimens of prostate cancer. The specimens were obtained from the primary tumors of patients affected by stage B disease [15 nonmicrodissected (group 1A) and 84 microdissected (group 1B)] and from the metastatic deposits of individuals with stage D1 disease [8 nonmicrodissected (group 2A) and 30 microdissected (group 2B)] who had not undergone androgen ablation therapy. The study was conducted by PCR-single strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) analysis of exons 2-8 in the four groups and direct sequence analysis of exon 1 in group 1B. As positive and negative controls, we used genomic DNA extracted from genital skin fibroblasts of patients affected by various forms of androgen resistance with known mutations in the AR. To control for genetic instability, PCR-SSCP analysis of exon 2 of the human progesterone receptor was carried out on each specimen. The overall number of mutations detected was 11 (8%). No mutations were detected in any of the 99 patients with stage B disease. Eleven mutations were detected in exons 2-8 in 8 of the 38 patients with stage D1 disease (all in group 2B). Simultaneous analysis of exon 2 of the progesterone receptor was carried out, and no SSCP changes were identified. These data suggest that AR mutations are rare and presumably do not play a role in the initial phase of prostatic carcinogenesis. The presence of a significant number of AR mutations in metastatic disease indicates that mutations of this molecule may play a role in the most advanced phases of the natural history of this disease, either by facilitating growth or acquisition of the metastatic phenotype
