THE PROBLEM OF ASSESSING EFFECTIVENESS OF STUDENTS' PROFESSIONAL SOCIALIZATION
The article is devoted to the analyses of the specific features of students’
professional socialization in Ukrainian universities. The following approaches to
the selection of the criteria of professional socialization effectiveness havr been
identified: objective indicators of changes in the personality of a student receiving
a higher education (the scope of the student’s professional skills, the knowledge
gained; his/her degree of professional development, self-realization, etc.);
subjective characteristics (the student’s professional self-identification and selfawareness).
The criteria for professional socialization assessment (educational and
professional, social and personal) are considered. In accordance with those criteria,
three approaches to the role and results of professional socialization are reviewed:
subject – object, subject – subject, and the identification approach.
It is shown that professional socialization is determined by a chain of factors
of social and professional environment which significantly affects students’ choice
of their professional behavior patter
A binary nature of the marginal CP star Sigma Sculptoris
The A2 V star σ Scl was suspected of being a low-amplitude rotating variable of the Ap-type star by several authors. Aiming to decide whether the star is a variable chemically peculiar (CP) star, we searched for the photometric and spectroscopic variability, and determined chemical abundances of σ Scl. The possible variability was tested using several types of periodograms applied to the photometry from Long-Term Photometry of Variables project (LTPV) and Hipparcos. Sixty spectrograms of high signal-to-noise (S/N) were obtained and used for chemical analysis of the stellar atmosphere and for looking for spectral variability that is symptomatic for the CP stars. We did not find any signs of the light variability or prominent chemical peculiarity, that is specific for the CP stars. The only exception is the abundance of scandium, which is significantly lower than the solar one and yttrium and barium, which are strongly overabundant. As a by-product of the analysis, and with the addition of 29 further spectra, we found that σ Scl is a single-lined spectroscopic binary with orbital period of 46.877(8) d. We argue that σ Scl is not an Ap star, but rather a marginal Am star in SB1 system. Magnetic field, chemical composition and line profile variability of the peculiar eclipsing binary star AR Aur
AR Aur is the only eclipsing binary known to contain a HgMn star, making it
an ideal case for a detailed study of the HgMn phenomenon. HgMn stars are a
poorly understood class of chemically peculiar stars, which have traditionally
been thought not to possess significant magnetic fields. However, the recent
discovery of line profile variability in some HgMn stars, apparently
attributable to surface abundance patches, has brought this belief into
question. In this paper we investigate the chemical abundances, line profile
variability, and magnetic field of the primary and secondary of the AR Aur
system, using a series of high resolution spectropolarimetric observations. We
find the primary is indeed a HgMn star, and present the most precise abundances
yet determined for this star. We find the secondary is a weak Am star, and is
possibly still on the pre-main sequence. Line profile variability was observed
in a range of lines in the primary, and is attributed to inhomogeneous surface
distributions of some elements. No magnetic field was detected in any
observation of either stars, with an upper limit on the longitudinal magnetic
field in both stars of 100 G. Modeling of the phase-resolve longitudinal field
measurements leads to a 3 sigma upper limit on any dipole surface magnetic

Abundance analysis of Am binaries and search for tidally driven abundance anomalies - III. HD116657, HD138213, HD155375, HD159560, HD196544 and HD204188
We continue here the systematic abundance analysis of a sample of Am binaries
in order to search for possible abundance anomalies driven by tidal interaction
in these binary systems. New CCD observations in two spectral regions
(6400-6500, 6660-6760 AA) of HD116657, HD138213, HD155375, HD159560, HD196544
and HD204188 were obtained. Synthetic spectrum analysis was carried out and
basic stellar properties, effective temperatures, gravities, projected
rotational velocities, masses, ages and abundances of several elements were
determined. We conclude that all six stars are Am stars. These stars were put
into the context of other Am binaries with 10 < Porb < 200 days and their
abundance anomalies discussed in the context of possible tidal effects. There
is clear anti-correlation of the Am peculiarities with v sin i. However, there
seems to be also a correlation with the eccentricity and may be with the
orbital period. The dependence on the temperature, age, mass, and
microturbulence was studied as well. The projected rotational velocities
obtained by us were compared to those of Royer et al. (2002) and Abt & Morrell
