    Get PDF
Quality of public services including social services is an issue frequently discussed by policy makers, service providers, and by those who represent service users. The aim of this study was to explore how stakeholders perceive quality of social services, with a particular focus on (1) what did participants rate as important; (2) what is the relative importance of each domain and how does that differ across stakeholder groups and (3) does importance vary by participant characteristics. A specially designed questionnaire was completed by 217 service providers, by 249 public administration representatives and 205 service users of residential care and in-home support. The subjective quality of life of service users was rated as the most important indicator of service quality by all three stakeholder groups. Particularly important were items that related to the nature of the relationships and interactions between staff and service users. There were some differences between stakeholder groups and also by respondent characteristics – public administration respondents, older service users and providers of residential care were more likely to rate health care as more important than other respondents. Implications for how quality is measured are discussed

Personal autonomy and its respect is the right of every human being in every period of his life. The objective of this scientific essay is to answer the question how the seniors see themselves as autonomous person, namely in the physical and financial terms and in the term of self-sufficiency within the meaning of individual decision. The most of the scientific works on senior population deals with elders in the institutional care or with seniors, who are dependent on the care of the others. Our message is focused on seniors living in the natural environment (family) in order to map the self view and the opinions of relatively self-sufficient, but very large group of seniors, who we meet on the streets nowdays and probably will meet them more often in the future. The aim of the research was to assess the perceived autonomy among the seniors themselves, namely in terms of physical self-sufficiency. The aim was not to create the statistical data analysis and hypothesis testing, but mapping the significance of subjective health for the perceived autonomy among the seniors themselves

Autonomy from the perspective of seniors

Personal autonomy and respect for personal autonomy is the right of every human being in every period of his/her life. The objective of this scientific essay is to answer the question: first of how the seniors see themselves as autonomous persons in terms of physical state and financial situation, and second of how the seniors perceive self-sufficiency in terms of individual decision. Almost all scientific publications in the field of senior population deal with the elderly in institutional care and/or with the seniors who depend on the care of others. Our report focuses on the seniors living in a natural environment (family). It aims to map the views and opinions of a relatively self-sufficient, very large group of seniors who we can meet in the streets today and who we are likely to meet more often in the future. The goal of the research is to assess the perceived autonomy among elderly subjects in terms of physical self-sufficiency. The point is not to create a statistical data analysis and/or hypothesis testing but to map a significance of subjective health for the perceived autonomy among the seniors

The article deals with the issue of the significance of intergenerational solidarity. From a demographic perspective, Czech society is ageing considerably, and the theme of care for senior citizens is resonating throughout the social sciences. At present, however, instead of a decline in the significance of intergenerational relationships, an increase in their importance is now being suggested. This theme is highly topical mainly within the context of provision of social care for dependent senior citizens. The aim of the research investigation was not a statistical data analysis or testing of hypotheses, but rather mapping of whether the respondents are willing to display intergenerational solidarity, and the contexts within which they perceive intergenerational solidarity. The actual questionnaire investigation was conducted within the period of 2016 to 2017. The respondents were students of social sciences at the University of Hradec Králové. We focused on the attitudes of young people who in future will share in the provision of social care with regard to senior citizens and their families.Artykuł porusza kwestię znaczenia solidarności międzypokoleniowej. Z perspektywy demograficznej społeczeństwo czeskie starzeje się w szybkim tempie, a temat opieki nad osobami starszymi rozbrzmiewa echem w naukach społecznych.
