Closed pattern mining of interval data and distributional data
We discuss pattern languages for closed pattern mining and learning of
interval data and distributional data. We first introduce pattern languages
relying on pairs of intersection-based constraints or pairs of inclusion based
constraints, or both, applied to intervals. We discuss the encoding of such
interval patterns as itemsets thus allowing to use closed itemsets mining and
formal concept analysis programs. We experiment these languages on clustering
and supervised learning tasks. Then we show how to extend the approach to
address distributional data.Comment: 15
La lutte pour la terre. Un couple entre Lombardie et Vénétie (Teodoro Trivulzio et Bona Bevilacqua, 1499-1532)
Conducting a broader research on the couple formed by Teodoro Trivulzio (1458- 1532) and Bona Bevilacqua (1468-1530), I focus here on the processes and modalities of constitution, administration and exploitation of their lands, in Lombardy and in Veronese, at the time of the Italian Wars. Much attention is paid to agricultural wealth as complex capital produced by daily exploitation, increase of soil productivity by irrigation, favors of the prince, loan circuits, etc. Further attention is given to the composition, cohesion and mobility of the social network that makes possible the administration and exploitation of the land. At local, regional and ‘international’ scales, networks, lands and economic and symbolic assets of the couple form a basis of actions that can be proposed to the Prince in the form of an ability to mediate his power, through the local anchoring, circulation and insertion into medium and large power groups.
752nd Tank Bn
Basic training had its usual ups and downs. A lot of the boys were introduced to tanks for the first time -- and took to them as smoothly as a shell fits into the breech. By the time the outfit was well into its basic education it furnished enough trained personnel to form the cadre for the 7 42nd tank Battalion. The new baby was commanded by Major Hausman, formerly S-3 of the 752nd. Command of the 752nd parent organization at this time was taken over by Major George F. Bender who had been the Battalion Executive Officer under Col. Anderson.
Most of the kinks of basic training had been ironed out when 752nd left Fort Lewis on April 13, 1942, headed for the Desert Training Center at Camp Young, near Indio, California. Here we started the rough work which was to result in one of the best trained tank outfits in the open market. The outfit was part of the first Tank Group which also included the 755th Tank Battalion.

The Tapeworm and Maria Callas' Diet: A Mystery Revealed
Maria Callas' diet, also known as the tapeworm diet, is a non-food-based hazardous treatment. This study aims to justify whether Maria Callas used this treatment for weight loss. To investigate this, we searched in the 'white', 'grey', and 'black' literature. The historical facts about the use of tapeworm pills seem to be inconsistent and include fake news. In the case of Maria Callas, it has been confirmed by her biography and personal communications that she was diagnosed with a beef tapeworm due to eating uncooked meat. This discredits the hypothesis that she consumed tapeworm pills
Rhetoric of Pictorial Place: Fictive Architecture and Persuasion in Altichiero da Zevio's Oratory of St George and Fra Angelico's Nicholas V Chapel
Historiography has tended to neglect architecture in painting, or to envisage it as a lesser counterpart to built architecture and as a means to create pictorial space. This study seeks to redress the lack of research on architectural settings, arguing for the agency of fictive structures and proposing rhetorical theory and place, rather than space, as heuristic tools for their interpretation. It offers four main contributions to scholarship on Italian medieval and Renaissance painting. Firstly, it illustrates how fictive architecture creates place, constructs the narrative, and engages with the viewer. Secondly, it clarifies the relationship between place and architecture in painting by identifying and qualifying two main approaches to the representation of place: portrait of place and hybrid place. Thirdly, it explores the communicative capacity of fictive buildings, demonstrating the rhetorical power of the structures in Altichiero’s Oratory in Padua and Fra Angelico’s Chapel in the Vatican, and illustrating the potential of a rhetorical approach for the interpretation of architecture in painting. Fourthly, it contributes to bridging the historiographical gap between fourteenth and fifteenth-century art.
The thesis opens with an analysis of how place was understood in fourteenth and fifteenth-century Italy, revealing the complexity and metaphorical valence of the word 'luogo' and underscoring the rhetorical nature of fictive architectural places. This study posits that rhetoric pervaded late medieval and Renaissance Italian culture, arguing that Trecento Padua and Quattrocento Rome were particularly receptive environments to rhetorical culture and deploying seven rhetorical terms as interpretative instruments. These seven rhetorical terms, selected from primary sources, clarify how artists created fictive architectural places, and help to scrutinise the possible meanings and messages that painted architectural place conveys. By emphasising the central role of architecture in painting, its crucial relationship with place-making, and its powers of persuasion, the thesis demonstrates the relevance of the architectural imagination of artists for a better understanding of painting, built structures and the articulation and perception of architectural identity in this period
Utilizing Metadata from Heterogeneous Sources within the Framework of the JVMG and GOLEM Projects to Identify Patterns in Anime-based Fandoms on AO3
This paper offers an overview of the first step in the data alignment and joint research efforts between the Japanese Visual Media Graph (JVMG) and the Graphs and Ontologies for Literary Evolution Models (GOLEM) projects. Focusing on fully or in-part anime based fandoms in the Archive of Our Own (AO3) data in the GOLEM knowledge graph we connected 534 fandoms with 1,734 anime works from the JVMG knowledge graph. The fanfiction publication numbers and dates for these fandoms were then analyzed in conjunction with the various metadata available on the corresponding anime works, such as release date, genre, content rating and user rating. Fixed effects modeling was employed to identify a positive effect of anime releases on fanfiction publication numbers. Furthermore, individual graphs of the top four hundred fandoms’ fanfiction publication numbers over time overlayed with the corresponding anime release dates were also analyzed manually to identify a number of distinct patterns, as well as groups of fandoms for which the invigorating effect of anime releases on fanfiction publication numbers could be clearly identified
