Linear Response Calculations of Lattice Dynamics in Strongly Correlated Systems
We introduce a new linear response method to study the lattice dynamics of
materials with strong correlations. It is based on a combination of dynamical
mean field theory of strongly correlated electrons and the local density
functional theory of electronic structure of solids. We apply the method to
study the phonon dispersions of a prototype Mott insulator NiO. Our results
show overall much better agreement with experiment than the corresponding local

Raising Permutations to Powers in Place
Given a permutation of n elements, stored as an array, we address the problem of replacing the permutation by its kth power. We aim to perform this operation quickly using o(n) bits of extra storage. To this end, we first present an algorithm for inverting permutations that uses O(lg^2 n) additional bits and runs in O(n lg n) worst case time. This result is then generalized to the situation in which the permutation is to be replaced by its kth power. An algorithm whose worst case running time is O(n lg n) and uses O(lg^2 n + min{k lg n, n^{3/4 + epsilon}}) additional bits is presented
Succinct Dynamic One-Dimensional Point Reporting
In this paper we present a succinct data structure for the dynamic one-dimensional range reporting problem. Given an interval [a,b] for some a,b in [m], the range reporting query on an integer set S subseteq [m] asks for all points in S cap [a,b]. We describe a data structure that answers reporting queries in optimal O(k+1) time, where k is the number of points in the answer, and supports updates in O(lg^epsilon m) expected time. Our data structure uses B(n,m) + o(B(n,m)) bits where B(n,m) is the minimum number of bits required to represent a set of size n from a universe of m elements. This is the first dynamic data structure for this problem that uses succinct space and achieves optimal query time
GENDER-ROLE IDENTITY AMONG JORDANIAN MALE NURSING STUDENTS: A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY
The objectives of the study were to describe the reasons for choosing nursing to study, gender role classification, and gender-role characteristics according to Bem sex-role inventory among male Jordanian nursing students recruited from two nursing schools in Jordan. A cross-sectional descriptive quantitative study was conducted using a self-administrated questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of demographic information and Bem-sex role inventory. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations. Results revealed that the highest reported reason for choosing nursing to study was “I like the profession” (36.9 %) and the lowest reported reason was “The only specialty I got approval at the University” 3.3%. Results revealed that 43.44% of students were found to be masculine, 45.08% androgyny, 9.02% undifferentiated, and 2.46% were feminine. Results revealed also that nursing students’ masculine subscale had the higher average score (5.58) out of 7, followed that of the neutral subscale (5.25) and the feminine subscale (4.73). The study suggests that modification of the policies for recruitment of nursing students at the nursing schools in Jordan is needed to meet the gender- role requirements of the nursing profession to enhance male nurses’ retention and promotion in nursing
Succinct Color Searching in One Dimension
In this paper we study succinct data structures for one-dimensional color reporting and color counting problems.
We are given a set of n points with integer coordinates in the range [1,m] and every point is assigned a color from the set {1,...sigma}.
A color reporting query asks for the list of distinct colors that occur in a query interval [a,b] and a color counting query asks for the number of distinct colors in [a,b].
We describe a succinct data structure that answers approximate color counting queries in O(1) time and uses mathcal{B}(n,m) + O(n) + o(mathcal{B}(n,m)) bits,
where mathcal{B}(n,m) is the minimum number of bits required to represent an arbitrary set of size n from a universe of m elements. Thus we show, somewhat counterintuitively,
that it is not necessary to store colors of points in order to answer approximate color counting queries.
In the special case when points are in the rank space (i.e., when n=m), our data structure needs only O(n) bits.
Also, we show that Omega(n) bits are necessary in that case.
Then we turn to succinct data structures for color reporting.
We describe a data structure that uses mathcal{B}(n,m) + nH_d(S) + o(mathcal{B}(n,m)) + o(nlgsigma) bits and answers queries in O(k+1) time,
where k is the number of colors in the answer, and nH_d(S) (d=log_sigma n) is the d-th order empirical entropy of the color sequence. Finally, we consider succinct color reporting under restricted updates. Our dynamic data structure uses nH_d(S)+o(nlgsigma) bits and supports queries in O(k+1) time

The Effectiveness of Dietary-Induced Ketogenesis on Cognition in Older Adults: A Scoping Review of the Literature
There is growing interest in the effect of dietary interventions in people living with memory impairment and delaying cognitive decline. Investigation of alterations in glucose metabolism and dietary-induced ketogenesis in older adults is a recent growing area of research. Ketone bodies are an important alternative energy source in the brain and may be beneficial to people developing or who already have memory impairment or those with Alzheimer’s disease. This scoping review aims to evaluate the available evidence on dietary-induced ketogenesis and its effect on cognition in older adults and the factors affecting feasibility of the dietary interventions to inform the design of future studies. The scoping review methodology explored the current knowledge about dietary interventions related to dietary-induced ketogenesis and cognition in older adults and identify gaps in the literature. Eleven dietary intervention studies included in the review demonstrated that both medium-chain triglyceride supplementation and ketogenic diets induce ketosis. Nine of these studies demonstrated that dietary-induced ketogenesis could lead to an improvement in cognitive functions, but the evidence remains inconclusive. Most of the included studies showed evidence to suggest that dietary-induced ketogenesis improves cognitive functions in older adults. However, the number of published papers is small and there were differences in the design and types of the dietary interventions (medium-chain triglyceride supplementation, ketogenic diet) along with high drop-out rates in some studies which limits the generalization of the findings. Although methodologies used in the studies vary, the findings warrant the need for further research with larger sample sizes in people at different stages of cognitive impairment, and to develop strategies to improve adherence to the intervention
The collapsed tetragonal phase as a strongly covalent and fully nonmagnetic state: persistent magnetism with interlayer As-As bond formation in Rh-doped CaSrFeAs
A well-known feature of CaFeAs-based superconductors is the
pressure-induced collapsed tetragonal phase that is commonly ascribed to the
formation of an interlayer As-As bond. Using detailed X-ray scattering and
spectroscopy, we find that Rh-doped CaSrFeAs does
not undergo a first-order phase transition and that local Fe moments persist
despite the formation of interlayer As-As bonds. Our density functional theory
calculations reveal that the Fe-As bond geometry is critical for stabilizing
magnetism and that the pressure-induced drop in the lattice parameter
observed in pure CaFeAs is mostly due to a constriction within the
FeAs planes. These phenomena are best understood using an often overlooked
explanation for the equilibrium Fe-As bond geometry, which is set by a
competition between covalent bonding and exchange splitting between strongly
hybridized Fe and As states. In this framework, the collapsed
tetragonal phase emerges when covalent bonding completely wins out over
exchange splitting. Thus the collapsed tetragonal phase is properly understood
as a strong, covalent phase that is fully nonmagnetic with the As-As bond

The knotted solitons introduced by Faddeev and Niemi is presently a subject
of great interest in particle and mathematical physics. In this paper we give a
