    Dissociation of hydrogen molecules on the clean and hydrogen-preadsorbed Be(0001) surface

    Using first-principles calculations, we systematically study the potential energy surfaces and dissociation processes for hydrogen molecules on the clean and hydrogen-preadsorbed Be(0001) surfaces. It is found that the most energetically favored dissociation channel for H2 molecules on the clean Be surface is at the surface top site, with the minimum energy barrier of 0.75 eV. It is further found that after dissociation, hydrogen atoms do not like to cluster with each other, as well as to penetrate into subsurface sites. For the hydrogen-preadsorbed Be(0001) surface, the smallest dissociation energy barrier for H2 molecules is found to be 0.50 eV, which is smaller than the dissociation energy barrier on a clean Be(0001) surface. The critical dependence of the dissociation energy barriers for H2 molecules on their horizontal distances from the preadsorbed hydrogen atom is revealed. Our studies well describe the adsorption behaviors of hydrogen on the Be(0001) surface.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figure

    Three cello recitals were given in lieu of a written dissertation. The repertoire was selected for these recitals show the versatility of the cello as a concerto, chamber, and solo instrument. The first recital, Cellist Composers and Arrangers, focused primarily on solo and chamber music composed by cello performers of the last three centuries. The second recital, Solo Cello, contained three significant works for solo cello. The final recital, Haydn C Major, was a performance of Haydn’s C major Concerto with the Utah Chamber Artists in Salt Lake City, UT.     The paper deals with the magnetic surface configuration properties in the frame of a new model of the l=2 stellarator with displaced helical windings. The displacement has been made to provide a better access to the plasma confinement volume. Numerical calculations have shown that the magnetic surface configuration, shifted inward the torus and appearing favorable for plasma confinement, can be realized in the absence of a transverse magnetic field.Проведено вивчення властивостей конфігурації магнітних поверхонь в новій моделі магнітної системи l=2 стеларатора зі зміщеними гвинтовими обмотками. Зміщення запроваджено з метою покращення доступу до об’єму утримання плазми. Показано, що найбільш сприятлива для утримання плазми зміщена в середину тора конфігурація магнітних поверхонь реалізується за відсутністю поперечного магнітного поля.Проведено изучение свойств конфигурации магнитных поверхностей в новой модели магнитной системы l=2 стелларатора со смещенными винтовыми обмотками. Смещение проведено с целью улучшения доступа к объему удержания плазмы. Показано, что благоприятная для удержания плазмы смещенная внутрь тора конфигурация магнитных поверхностей реализуется в отсутствие поперечного магнитного поля
