    THE THESIS ADVISORS EXPECTATION OF THE STUDENTS IN WRITING THESIS

    Expectation is the act state of expecting or looking forward to an event as about to happen. The thesis advisors expectation sometimes match with the students expectation and sometimes does not. So, the writer formulates a statement of problem that is: What is the thesis advisor expectation of the students in writing thesis? The purpose of this study is to investigate the thesis advisors expectation of the students in writing thesis. This study also uses the descriptive qualitative research. The population of this study is the teacher of English Department full-time in academic years 2001/2002 in Muhammadiyah University of Malang. This research uses non-probability sampling, exactly, purposive sampling because the writer only chooses 14 full-time thesis advisors as a sample. In this case, the writer uses a structured interview to collecting the data because before interviewing, the writer construct some questions to the respondents. The result of this study are the majority of the thesis advisors expect their students have capability in research’s topic and research methodology obey the thesis guidance schedule (100%), high motivation (81,8%), be more independent (63,6%), grammatically correct (36,3%), discuss with friend (27,3%), obey the thesis advisor (18,2%), and 9,09% the thesis advisors expectation are the students should write a good thesis, be more patient, read a lot of books, be consistent with the thesis purposes. However, not all thesis advisors can achieve their expectations. It is caused by several factors and the majority of the thesis advsiors would like to find out the cause of problem and ask the students to do a concrete action. The thesis advisor expectation should be compatible with the student level of ability. To much ideal expectation that is not line with the students capability will make them frustrated

    Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Realistik Berbasis Media dan Berkonteks Lokal Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Keaktifan Belajar Matematika Siswa Kelas VI SD N 01 Jatisuko Kecamatan Jatipuro Tahun Ajaran 2010/2011

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keaktifan siswa SD kelas VI selama proses pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) Berbasis Media dan Berkonteks Lokal. Obyek penelitian adalah Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) Berbasis Media dan Berkonteks Lokal. Guru sebagai subyek pelaksana tindakan sedangkan siswa adalah subyek yang dikenai tindakan yang berjumlah 40 siswa. Dalam pengumpulan data peneliti dibantu oleh guru kelas VI dan kepala sekolah. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, dokumentasi dan metode test. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bersifat kolaboratif antara peneliti, guru kelas, kepala sekolah. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode alur yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan keaktifan siswa, meliputi keaktifan dalam mengemukakan ide/gagasan di kelas VI dari 26,667% sebelum tindakan meningkat menjadi 31,034% (siklus I ), 36,667% (siklus II), 64,286% (siklus III). Keaktifan dalam menjawab pertanyaan dari guru 10% sebelum tindakan menjadi 24,138% (siklus I), 43,333% (siklus ), 71,428% (siklus III). Keaktifan mengerjakan soal kedepan kelas dari 16,667% sebelum tindakan menjadi 34,483% (siklus I), 43,333% (siklus II), 75% (siklus III). Keaktifan dalam bertanya dari 6,667 sebelum tindakan menjadi 20,689% (siklus I), 26,667% (siklus II), 53,571% (siklus III). Keaktifan dalam menarik kesimpulan baik secara individu maupun kelompok dari 33,333% sebelum tindakan menjadi 44,828% (siklus I), 56,667% (siklus II), 78,571% (siklus III). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penerapan PMR Berbasis Media dan Berkonteks Lokal dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam belajar matematika sehingga hasil belajar matematika meningkat

    ABSTRACTThe phenomenon of underage labor that occurs in the city of Samarinda today, such as being a very ordinary sight. Increasing the number of child laborers in samarinda city, is a problem that is quite precarious to immediately pursue a solution both by the Government and related parties.The method used in this writing is empirical juridical research method, which is a method of legal research that uses the rules in legislation and seeks data or information directly in the form of interviews with sources.The results stated that there are a variety of factors that cause minors to work as newspaper sellers in Samarinda city umunya family factors, then economic factors, as well as factors of mental damage of children. Many efforts have been made by the Government of Samarinda City Social Service which aims to reduce child labor by means of street control, coaching and socialization to child workers.The implementation of legal protection and constraints on minors who work as newspaper sellers in Samarinda City is in this case the Social Service of Samarinda City has made every effort to reduce the number of minor workers who work as newspaper sellers but until now have not received maximum results.     Teacher education pedagogies and methodological constructs: or about different ways to approach teacher education

    This paper plots the methodological constructs identified in different teacher education pedagogies deployed in teacher education settings of Higher Education Institutes in the province of Catamarca. The focus is on showcasing how future teachers are aided -from the methodological constructs of mentors- to make pedagogical decisions and broaden their potential for action during the educational path. The research was conducted from a qualitative approach. Three Higher Education Institutes representing different socio-cultural contexts and educational traditions were selected on the assumption that distinct pedagogies would be found; not only structured on the basis of stereotypical training, but also on the specificity of the disciplinary field. Seventeen semi-structured interviews were carried out and were accompanied by classroom observation of teacher educators in different areas, from distinct disciplinary backgrounds and varied seniority. The qualitative analysis of the data enabled the reconstruction of three typologies that explain the modes in which teacher education is pedagogically configured in the institutes under study as well as the dominant methodological construct that sets up each pedagogical approach. Thus, the pedagogy of ‘modeling’ teaching is based on methodological constructs based on the transmission of disciplinary contents and the instilment of behavior patterns; the ‘traditional’ view is built on methodological constructs elaborated on the basis of disciplinary logic; and the ‘eclectic’ approach is materialized in methodological constructs based on the synthesis of heterogeneous components or constructions grounded on pedagogical abstention.Fil: Diaz, Ana Griselda.
