Invariant surface area functionals and singular Yamabe problem in 3-dimensional CR geometry

We express two CR invariant surface area elements in terms of quantities in pseudohermitian geometry. We deduce the Euler-Lagrange equations of the associated energy functionals. Many solutions are given and discussed. In relation to the singular CR Yamabe problem, we show that one of the energy functionals appears as the coefficient (up to a constant multiple) of the log term in the associated volume renormalization.Comment: 50 page

An Intelligent Trade Matching System for B2B Marketplace

    Get PDF
With the fast growth of B2B sales, an intelligent system is greatly useful for decreasing transaction cost and increasing market efficiency on electronic platforms. In order to improve the quality of transaction processing and customer experience, this paper proposes a knowledge-based system, which employs a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) technique for trade matching in B2B marketplace as a substitute for the manual matching process. The system function and logical architecture are discussed. And the case repository is proposed to support this CBR approach where the case representation, case base indexing, case base decomposition and the dictionary are argued in details

Effect of Laser Welding Parameters on Formation of NiTi Shape Memory Alloy Welds

    Get PDF
In this work experimental trials of welding of NiTi flat plates with 2.0 mm thickness were conducted using a 4.5 kW continuous wave (CW) Nd:YAG laser. The influences of laser output power, welding speed, defocus amount and side-blow shielding gas flow rate on the morphology, welding depth and width, and quality of the welded seam were investigated. Meanwhile, the effects of heat input on the mechanical and functional properties of welded joints were studied. The results show that laser welding can take better formation in NiTi alloys. The matching curves with laser power and welding speed affecting different formation of welds were experimentally acquired, which can provide references for laser welding and engineering application of NiTi alloy. The heat input has obvious effects on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and shape memory behavior of the welded joints

Palladium-catalyzed ligand-promoted site-selective cyanomethylation of unactivated C(sp3)–H bonds with acetonitrile

    Get PDF
The direct cyanomethylation of unactivated sp3 C–H bonds of aliphatic amides was achieved via palladium catalysis assisted by a bidentate directing group with good functional group compatibility. This process represents the first example of the direct cross-coupling of sp3 C–H bonds with acetonitrile. Considering the importance of the cyano group in medicinal and synthetic organic chemistry, this reaction will find broad application in chemical research

Directional Spin Wave in Spin-Torque Oscillators Induced by Interfacial Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya Interaction

    Get PDF
Spin torque oscillators (STOs) are currently of great interest due to its wide tunable frequencies, low energy consumption and high quality factors compared with traditional oscillators. Here, we report the characteristics of the nanocontact-(NC-)STO in the presence of interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), using micromagnetic simulations. We find that the DMI can decrease the STO frequency by around 2 GHz. More importantly, the DMI is able to break the isotropy of the spin-wave spectrum and turn the emitted microwave into directional spin-wave beams potentially facilitating the synchronization of multiple STOs

Quantum Oscillations from Nontrivial States in Quasi-Two-Dimensional Dirac Semimetal ZrTe 5 Nanowires

    Get PDF
Recently discovered Dirac semimetal ZrTe 5 bulk crystal, exhibits nontrivial conducting states in each individual layer, holding great potential for novel spintronic applications. Here, to reveal the transport properties of ZrTe 5 , we fabricated ZrTe 5 nanowires (NWs) devices, with much larger surface-to-volume ratio than bulk materials. Quantum oscillations induced by the two-dimensional (2D) nontrivial conducting states have been observed from these NWs and a finite Berry phase of ~π is obtained by the analysis of Landau-level fan diagram. More importantly, the absence of the Aharonov-Bohm (A-B) oscillations, along with the SdH oscillations, suggests that the electrons only conduct inside each layer. And the intralayer conducting is suppressed because of the weak connection between adjacent layers. Our results demonstrate that ZrTe 5 NWs can serve as a suitable quasi-2D Dirac semimetal with high mobility (~85000 cm 2 V −1 s −1 ) and large nontrivial conductance contribution (up to 8.68%)

Cancer Nanotechnology: Enhancing Tumor Cell Response to Chemotherapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Therapy

    Get PDF
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the deadliest cancers due to its complexities, reoccurrence after surgical resection, metastasis and heterogeneity. In addition to sorafenib and lenvatinib for the treatment of HCC approved by FDA, various strategies including transarterial chemoembolization, radiotherapy, locoregional therapy and chemotherapy have been investigated in clinics. Recently, cancer nanotechnology has got great attention for the treatment of various cancers including HCC. Both passive and active targetings are progressing at a steady rate. Herein, we describe the lessons learned from pathogenesis of HCC and the understanding of targeted and non-targeted nanoparticles used for the delivery of small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, miRNAs and peptides. Exploring current efficacy is to enhance tumor cell response of chemotherapy. It highlights the opportunities and challenges faced by nanotechnologies in contemporary hepatocellular carcinoma therapy, where personalized medicine is increasingly becoming the mainstay. Overall objective of this review is to enhance our understanding in the design and development of nanotechnology for treatment of HCC

Cooperative Data Caching for Cloud Data Servers

    Get PDF
Thanks to the advance of cloud computing technologies, users can access the data stored at cloud data centers at any time and from any where. However, the data centers are usually sparsely distributed over the Internet and are far away from end users. In this paper, we consider to construct a cache network by a large number of cache nodes close to the end users in order to minimize the data access delay. We firstly formulate the problem of placing the replicas of data items to cache nodes as a mixed integer programming (MIP) problem. Then, we proposed an efficient heuristic algorithm that allocates at least one replica of each data item in the cache network and attempt to allocate more data items so as to minimize the total data access cost. The simulation results show that our proposed algorithm behaves much better than a well-known LRU algorithm and the computation complexity is limited

Femtosecond laser-heating effect on the magnetization dynamics in perpendicularly magnetized Ta/CoFeB/MgO film

    Get PDF
We have studied the effect of ultrafast laser-heating on the magnetization dynamics of perpendicularly magnetized CoFeB film by means of the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr rotation effect. The effective perpendicular magnetic anisotropy field HK is significantly decreased with enhancing the pump laser-fluence in a moderate range of 5-12 mJ cm-2. The Gilbert damping, however, is found to be independent of the pump fluence. These findings provide a new method of separately manipulating the Gilbert damping and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy
