Exact Solutions of the Duffin Kemmer Petiau Equation for the Deformed Hulthen Potential
Using the Nikiforov Uvarov method, an application of the relativistic Duffin
Kemmer Petiau equation in the presence of a deformed Hulthen potential is
presented for spin zero particles. We derived the first order coupled
differential radial equations which enable the energy eigenvalues as well as
the full wavefunctions to be evaluated by using of the Nikiforov Uvarov method
that can be written in terms of the hypergeometric polynomials.Comment: 8 pages. submitted to Physica Script
Spinal cord compression secondary to extramedullary hematopoiesis in thalassemia intermedia
Extramedullary hematopoiesis associated with thalassemia causing spinal cord compression is an extremely rare event in the course of the disease. Documentation with an imaging technique, such as MRI, is mandatory. A patient with thalassemia intermedia, who developed paraparesis in spite of transfusion, underwent surgical decompression. Rapid neurological improvement was observed postoperatively and this neurological condition was protected with adequate hemoglobin level. Management of these patients remains controversial. Various modes of therapy such as surgical decompression, radiotherapy, and transfusion are discussed and the related literature is reviewed
Transmutations and spectral parameter power series in eigenvalue problems
We give an overview of recent developments in Sturm-Liouville theory
concerning operators of transmutation (transformation) and spectral parameter
power series (SPPS). The possibility to write down the dispersion
(characteristic) equations corresponding to a variety of spectral problems
related to Sturm-Liouville equations in an analytic form is an attractive
feature of the SPPS method. It is based on a computation of certain systems of
recursive integrals. Considered as families of functions these systems are
complete in the -space and result to be the images of the nonnegative
integer powers of the independent variable under the action of a corresponding
transmutation operator. This recently revealed property of the Delsarte
transmutations opens the way to apply the transmutation operator even when its
integral kernel is unknown and gives the possibility to obtain further
interesting properties concerning the Darboux transformed Schr\"{o}dinger
operators.
We introduce the systems of recursive integrals and the SPPS approach,
explain some of its applications to spectral problems with numerical
illustrations, give the definition and basic properties of transmutation
operators, introduce a parametrized family of transmutation operators, study
their mapping properties and construct the transmutation operators for Darboux
transformed Schr\"{o}dinger operators.Comment: 30 pages, 4 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with

Neonatal umbilical cord blood transplantation halts skeletal disease progression in the murine model of MPS-I
Umbilical cord blood (UCB) is a promising source of stem cells to use in early haematopoietic stem
cell transplantation (HSCT) approaches for several genetic diseases that can be diagnosed at birth. Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS-I) is a progressive multi-system disorder caused by deficiency
of lysosomal enzyme α-L-iduronidase, and patients treated with allogeneic HSCT at the onset
have improved outcome, suggesting to administer such therapy as early as possible. Given that
the best characterized MPS-I murine model is an immunocompetent mouse, we here developed a transplantation system based on murine UCB. With the final aim of testing the therapeutic efficacy of UCB in MPS-I mice transplanted at birth, we first defined the features of murine UCB cells and demonstrated that they are capable of multi-lineage haematopoietic repopulation of myeloablated adult mice similarly to bone marrow cells. We then assessed the effectiveness of murine UCB cells transplantation in busulfan-conditioned newborn MPS-I mice. Twenty weeks after treatment, iduronidase activity was increased in visceral organs of MPS-I animals, glycosaminoglycans storage was reduced, and skeletal phenotype was ameliorated. This study explores a potential therapy for MPS-I at a very early stage in life and represents a novel model to test UCB-based transplantation approaches for various diseases
Is Evolution of Blind Mole Rats Determined by Climate Oscillations?
The concept of climate variability facilitating adaptive radiation supported by the ‘‘Court Jester’’ hypothesis is disputed by the ‘‘Red Queen’’ one, but the prevalence of one or the other might be scale-dependent. We report on a detailed, comprehensive phylo-geographic study on the ,4 kb mtDNA sequence in underground blind mole rats of the family
Spalacidae (or subfamily Spalacinae) from the East Mediterranean steppes. Our study aimed at testing the presence of periodicities in branching patterns on a constructed phylogenetic tree and at searching for congruence between branching events, tectonic history and paleoclimates. In contrast to the strong support for the majority of the branching events on the tree, the absence of support in a few instances indicates that network-like evolution could exist in spalacids. In our tree, robust support was given, in concordance with paleontological data, for the separation of spalacids from muroid rodents
during the first half of the Miocene when open, grass-dominated habitats were established. Marine barriers formed between Anatolia and the Balkans could have facilitated the separation of the lineage ‘‘Spalax’’ from the lineage ‘‘Nannospalax’’ and of the clade ‘‘leucodon’’ from the clade ‘‘xanthodon’’. The separation of the clade ‘‘ehrenbergi’’ occurred during the late stages of the tectonically induced uplift of the Anatolian high plateaus and mountains, whereas the separation of the clade
‘‘vasvarii’’ took place when the rapidly uplifting Taurus mountain range prevented the Mediterranean rainfalls from reaching the Central Anatolian Plateau. The separation of Spalax antiquus and S. graecus occurred when the southeastern Carpathians were uplifted. Despite the role played by tectonic events, branching events that show periodicity corresponding to 400-kyr and 100-kyr eccentricity bands illuminate the important role of orbital fluctuations on adaptive radiation in spalacids. At the
given scale, our results supports the ‘‘Court Jester’’ hypothesis over the ‘‘Red Queen’’ one

The geothermal potential of bergama-dikili region and evaluation of the gravity data
© 2017 European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers EAGE. All Rights Reserved. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the gravity data of the Bergama-Dikili geothermal field. Bergama-Dikili region is an important region with great preliminaries from the antiquity in terms of geothermal. Therefore, it is a great importance also in the future. Considering these circumstances, the importance of determination of some parameters such as geological boundaries and depths is increased. In this study, gravity data were interpreted for defining geological structures. Filtering process, upward and downward continuations, second derivation, trend analysis, boundary analysis and power spectrum methods were utilized during the evaluation of data. Besides, the calculated basement depth values with using 3D modeling were mapped
