Continuity of the Solution Maps for Generalized Parametric Set-Valued Ky Fan Inequality Problems
Under new assumptions, we provide suffcient conditions for the (upper and lower) semicontinuity and continuity of the solution mappings to a class of generalized parametric set-valued Ky Fan inequality problems in linear metric space. These results extend and improve some known results in the literature (e.g., Gong, 2008; Gong and Yoa, 2008; Chen and Gong, 2010; Li and Fang, 2010). Some examples are given to illustrate our results
Kajian Tekstual Gending Leluangan Kekebyaran Dalam Upacara Piodalan Di Pura Kayangan Tiga Desa Adat Tembawu

Gong Lum v. Rice: The Convergence of Law, Race and Ethnicity
In the constitutional case of Gong Lum v. Rice (1927), the United States Supreme Court, composed entirely of Bok Guey (whites), adjudged Hon Yen (Chinese) to be in the same social classification as Lo Mok (blacks).[1] The case, which pertained to racially segregated schools, reveals the problematic of law, race, and ethnicity
Since 1999, the highly mediatized conflict between the Chinese State and the Falun Gong has often been interpreted according to the terms of a debate well known in the West, and especially on the North American continent that opposes those who, on the one hand, wish to defend the social order against the danger of ‘cults’ or ‘sects,’ against those who, on the other, wish to defend the freedom of belief and the ‘new religious movements.’ The aim of the present paper is to situate this debate within a specifically Chinese context in order to understand the significance given, during the 20th century, to the concepts of religion, superstition or heterodoxy. Our argument is based on the idea that the definition of religion adopted by the Chinese State in the early 20th century, a definition copied from the one prevailing in the West, does not conform well with the religious situation as expressed in China. Unless this discrepancy is taken into consideration, both the extraordinary rise of the qigong and Falun Gong and the campaign to suppress the latter become difficult to understand.

Surrogate Brands - The pull to adopt an ‘Other’ nation; via sports merchandise
A growing number of consumers are choosing to wear sporting merchandise, from an ‘other’ nation – whom they have no geographic or ethnic affiliation with. In addition, nation sports branding appears to have scaled pandemic heights; by reaching fever pitch, when actively carrying its message across boarders. Consumer preferences are being driven past simple behavioural characteristics; towards more transient psychographic and emotional constructs. In short, nation branded sporting uniform is no longer viewed as demanding restrictive monogamous loyalty. Ownership of a uniform largely suggests exclusivity and encouraged competition. However, manufactures, national teams, athletes and sponsors are entering symbiotic brand relationships - where they are actively seeking publics, open to multiple adopted nationalities. This phenomenon draws consumers towards embracing temporal national identities, which are converted into an over-arching cross-border identity; ultimately gifting sports brands more significance. The following paper explores consumers’ entry into relationships with another nation, in preference to their own - in manner that has been likened to a form of surrogacy; by the authors. The aim is to stimulate further thinking in a field; which transcends national and cultural boundaries - in the interests of developing new insight, and to provide a platform for marketers to develop more effective communication
Seismic Emissions from a Highly Impulsive M6.7 Solar Flare
On 10 March 2001 the active region NOAA 9368 produced an unusually impulsive
solar flare in close proximity to the solar limb. This flare has previously
been studied in great detail, with observations classifying it as a type 1
white-light flare with a very hard spectrum in hard X-rays. The flare was also
associated with a type II radio burst and coronal mass ejection. The flare
emission characteristics appeared to closely correspond with previous instances
of seismic emission from acoustically active flares. Using standard local
helioseismic methods, we identified the seismic signatures produced by the
flare that, to date, is the least energetic (in soft X-rays) of the flares
known to have generated a detectable acoustic transient. Holographic analysis
of the flare shows a compact acoustic source strongly correlated with the
impulsive hard X-ray, visible continuum, and radio emission. Time-distance
diagrams of the seismic waves emanating from the flare region also show faint
signatures, mainly in the eastern sector of the active region. The strong
spatial coincidence between the seismic source and the impulsive visible
continuum emission reinforces the theory that a substantial component of the
seismic emission seen is a result of sudden heating of the low photosphere
associated with the observed visible continuum emission. Furthermore, the
low-altitude magnetic loop structure inferred from potential--field
extrapolations in the flaring region suggests that there is a significant
inverse correlation between the seismicity of a flare and the height of the
magnetic loops that conduct the particle beams from the corona.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures, Solar Physics Topical Issue: SOHO 19/GONG 2007

Static behaviour of two-tiered Dou-Gong system reinforced by super-elastic alloy
Dou-Gong system in Asian timber structures play an important role in resisting seismic action. Traditional carpentry in Asia uses timber pegs to connect components which enables relative movement between components, and hence provide friction to dissipate energy in an earthquake. This method however has some short falls such as inadequate stiffness to resist large lateral force and therefore the structures tend to exhibit permanent deformation after the earthquakes. This study proposes a new technique by using super-elastic alloy bars to replace the conventional wooden peg connections to enhance the seismic performance of the structures. Static push-over experiments were conducted on full scaled two-tiered Dou-Gong systems and the high-strength steel and conventional wood pegs as benchmarks. The ultimate stiffness of Dou-Gong system has shown increase by using both high-strength steel and super-elastic alloy bars, but only super-elastic alloy can provide a consistent high damping ratio. This technique also involves pre-strain the super-elastic alloy and the outcomes of this series of experiments have shown that pre-strain in the super-elastic alloy can significantly increase the damping ratio in the structure and hence more energy is dissipated. The results of this paper can be used in the projects of timber structures with Dou-Gong system
