The ontology of globalization: the loss of worlds in the face of rising a uniform globe

Up until Kant’s critical philosophy, it was not easy to speak of the “world” itself as distinct from “nature”. After Kant, the world began to be considered from a historical perspective. Therefore, the world came to be considered as historical rather than natural, which is why it is possible to speak of different worlds in the history of thought. However, globalization more and more drives these different worlds into a uniform historical globe. In this paper, I consider the question of globalization as a passage “from multiple historical worlds to a uniform historical globe”. By analyzing the passages from “nature” to the “world” and from the “world” to the “globe,” I focus on how the idea of “dwelling in the world” and of “saving the earth” has increasingly transformed into the idea of “dominating the world” and of “owning the earth”

Evaluation of Performance of Tourism Industry Companies listed in Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST) by TOPSIS Methodology

To evaluate the operations of the companies in the past years and to make forecasts about the future, it is important to evaluate and analyze their financial performance. In this study, the financial performances of tourism enterprises operating in Istanbul Stock Exchange for 2013-2016 are compared with TOPSIS method. As a result of the research, it is determined that the best performances are observed in 2014, 2015 and 2016 for MALT and in 2013 for METUR

Anti-cancer activities of curcumin and propolis extracts on MCF-7 breast cancer cell line model

It is evident that chemotherapy, which is one of the most preferred methods in cancer treatment, have several disadvantages and decrease the success rate of treatment. Therefore, identification and development of natural anti-cancer agents with less toxicity and side effects has recently become one of the areas of interest. In the present study, we reveal the potential anticancer activities of propolis and curcumin extracts and cisplatin on the breast cancer cell line (MCF-7). Individual and combinatorial treatments of propolis and curcumin was performed. MTT cell viability assay was used to determine the anti-proliferative activities of extracts, and Annexin V/PI double staining flow cytometric method was used to determine induction of apoptosis in breast cancer cells. In our study,the most significant reduction in MCF-7 cell viability was found to be 100 ?g/ml for cisplatin, 5 ?g/ml for curcumin and 160 ?g/ml for propolis. Apoptotic cell ratios were also found to be consistent with MTT findings. The highest proportion of apoptotic cells in the combinatorial study was found to be in the presence of cisplatin + propolis. In conclusion, here we show that combinatorial cisplatin + propolis treatments have significant anti-cancer activities on MCF-7 breast cancer cells in vitro. Studies involving natural products might be a new hope for complementary and alternative medicine by paving the way for clinical studies

Özne ve nesne tarzında birbirinden tamamen izole edilebilir reel iki farklı var olandan bahsedilebilir mi yoksa böyle bir ayrım yalnızca soyutlamadan mı ibarettir? Şayet birbirinden ontolojik statüleri bakımından iki farklı var olan olarak özne ve nesne ayrımı söz konusu ise bunların ilişkisinde belirleyici olan hangisidir? Şayet bunlar soyutlama ise soyutlama öncesi durum nedir? Bu çalışmada; insanın özünü, “düşünen olmak”lığın, “bilinçli olmak”lığın tesis ettiğini iddia eden özne merkezli metafizik düşünceye karşın, insanın özünün “dünyada olmak”lığın teşkil ettiğini iddia eden Heideggerci fenomenolojik eleştirinin temel tutamak noktaları, yukarıdaki iki soru bağlamında ele alınmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle özne merkezli metafizik düşüncenin ufkunu belirlemek amacıyla problem özelinde Descartesçı ve Kantçı yaklaşımlar incelenerek, sonrasında fenomenolojik yaklaşımın farkını gösteren ama yine de özne merkezli düşünceden tamamen kopmadığını düşündüğümüz Husserlci fenomenolojik perspektif analiz edilerek, Heideggerci eksistansiyal fenomenolojik eleştiri sunulmaktadır

Especially, Germany’s searching commodity and market for its developing industry is a reason for the serious competion with England in the area of colonialism.This situation led to the polarization between European countries. Towards the end of the century, the polarization between these two states would be remembered as the Allies and the Central Powers and in 1914 war would start between these groups. The war lasted four years and millions of lifes were lost. Therefore, some contracts have been signed between the parties in order to improve the situation of military and civilian prisoners. Ottoman State having a part in the war with Central Powers have also signed contracts for this reason with England and France in BernXIX. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından sonra Almanya ve İtalya’nın siyasî birliklerini tamamlaması, Avrupa merkezli güç dengesini derinden sarsmıştır. Özellikle Almanya’nın gelişen sanayisine hem hammadde hem de pazar arayışı, sömürgecilik alanında İngiltere ile kıyasıya bir çekişmeye girmesine neden olmuştur. Bu durum, Avrupalı devletler arasında kutuplaşmayı da beraberinde getirmiştir. The impact of uncertainty on investment : overview

One of the explanations can be stated that the increased in uncertainty leads to move up the value of waiting and consequently has an adverse effect on investment. Contrary to the existing theory, Sarkar (2000) and Gryglewicz et all (2006) find that this negative relationship is not always correct. The former paper demonstrates that an increase in uncertainty can actually hasten the probability of making an investment under certain condition (when project life is short and level of uncertainty is low) and hence uncertainty has a positive effect on investment. Result of the latter paper is exceptional in the sense that uncertainty may accelerate irreversible investment without building on the convexity of the marginal product of capital. In this thesis, we compare these two papers and investigate whether they support each other or not in the framework of real option theory. Moreover, we made some numerical simulations in order to understand clearly impact of other variables on investment along with uncertainty.Yılmaz, ErdalM.S

Kant’ın Teorik ve Pratik Felsefesinde Hüküm ve Nesnellik

Bu çalışmada Kant’ın, aklın teorik kullanımını mevzu edinen teorik felsefesi ile pratik kullanımını mevzu edinen pratik felsefesinde hükmün ne olduğunun ve nesnelliğinin nasıl temellendirildiğinin açıklanması hedeflenmektedir. Kant’ın teorik felsefesinde hüküm verme, bilme faaliyeti ile ilişkili olduğundan ve hükmün nesnelliği de bilginin nesnelliği ile alakalı olduğundan, bilgiyi üreten insanın bilme yetileri şartları, imkânları ve sınırları bakımından incelenerek teorik hükmün ne olduğu ve nesnelliğinin nasıl sağlandığı izah edilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Kant’ın pratik felsefesinde de hüküm verme, eylemi gerçekleştirenin karar vermesiyle yani irade ile ilişkili olduğundan ve hükmün nesnelliği de bu iradeyi belirleyen zeminle alakalı olduğundan, iradenin karar vermesinde ne türden ilişkilenmeler içerisinde bulunduğunun analizi yapılmak suretiyle pratik hükmün ne olduğu ve nesnelliğinin nasıl temellendirildiği vuzuha kavuşturulmaya çalışılmaktadır
