Using DEFORM-3D with the single channel brass H63 channel Angle extrusion deformation of computer simulation, such as extrusion process for the change of load, velocity of billet, the effective stress and the distribution of strain rate, grain size billets are analyzed, and the results show that the friction force had a great influence on extrusion process of load, the change of effective stress and strain rate trend, along with the change of extrusion for grain size refinement in a certain extent, but the different location of grain size and distribution is uneven. For the ECAP (equal channel presents pressing) grain refining process of industrial production and application to provide certain theoretical basis

A Low Complexity Navigation Data Estimation Algorithm for Weak GNSS Signal Tracking

    Get PDF
The computation load of traditional navigation data estimation algorithms for weak GNSS signal tracking increases exponentially with respect to the number of data bits needed to be estimated. To solve this problem, by adopting the dynamic programming philosophy, a navigation data bits estimation algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses the partial sum of correlation values as data bit combination searching branches. It can predict and exclude searching branches of data bit combination which have small coherent accumulated energy as soon as possible by angle quantification, thus reducing its computation load to be linearly related to the number of data bits needed to be estimated. Simulation results show that for signal of 500bps navigation data rate, the carrier track loop with a frequency discriminator implementing 0.12s coherent accumulation by navigation data estimation improves the tracking sensitivity up to 7 dB compared with traditional frequency discriminator under the same track accuracy constraint

With the wide promotion of energy saving and environmental protection, the improvement of heating capacity especially at low ambient temperature condition and the working efficiency of room air conditioner become more and more important. Firstly, the purpose of this paper was introduced. Then, the relative techniques like DC inverter, variable volume and gas injection were simply analyzed. Thirdly, a new coupling compressor with these three techniques to satisfy both heating capacity and efficiency demands was indicated. Moreover, the detail design of the coupling compressor was described. At last, the prototype compressor was designed and assembled to validate the effect of this coupling compressor on RAC system. According to the test result, this coupling compressor has significant effect as we expectation when using in RAC system. The maximum heating capacity increasing up to 185% by compare to the base system at -15℃ ambient temperature condition which makes half time consumption at the same room temperature rising. Furthermore, the APF efficiency of the system increased by about 6%

The MBC (calibration model-based) toolbox in MATLAB software and Ricardo Wave were used to optimize the power performance of a gasoline engine. In the calibration process, Firstly, the wave simulation model of the engine was established and validated; then, engine operating points were determined by using the design of experiments (DOE) method, and parameters and performance (torque, fuel consumption, power and the cylinder maximum pressure, etc.) of the engine at these operating points were calculated by the simulation model. Finally, the engine mathematical statistical model was established and calibration optimization. The engine ignition advance angle, air-fuel ratio and the torque of the engine were obtained. The results show that the method combined with the modern DoE test design theory and automatic calibration technology not only makes the engine torque from 198 Nm to 215 Nm, but also greatly reduces the test time and improve the calibration efficienc

The effects of reciprocating flow cycle and exhaust gas flow on the performance of aftertreatment system are investigated in detail. The energy efficiency analysis of the aftertreatment system is also carried out. Experimental results show that (i) as the temperature is lower than the light-off threshold of combustible gas, the aftertreatment system cannot restrain the formation of second particles under the present experiment condition of unidirectional flow; (ii) the aftertreatment system demonstrates excellent performance of trapping particles and filter regeneration as the symmetrical temperature distribution is formed. The PM filter efficiency α_PM is 92% and the specific energy consumption β is 124% for symmetrical temperature distribution; (iii) the increase of reciprocating flow cycle could lead to the shifting of the temperature profiles, this would affect the particle size distribution; (iv) a certain increase of exhaust gas flow from engine would have insignificant change for the temperature distribution; (v) The critical energy efficiency η_c of the system could reach 96.61%.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

A sensor with coating Pt/WO3 powder with an Erbium-doped fiber amplifier to detect the hydrogen concentration

    Get PDF
A highly sensitive hydrogen sensor coated with Pt/WO3 powder with an Erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensing head is constructed by splicing a short section of tapered small diameter coreless fiber (TSDCF diameter of 62.5 μm, and tapered to 14.5 μm) between two single-mode fibres. The Pt/WO3 powder adheres to the surface of PDMS film coated on the TSDCF structure, which is sensitive to hydrogen. An EDFA is introduced into the sensor system to improve the quality factor of the output spectrum and thus improve the sensor’s resolution. As the hydrogen concentration varies from 0 to 1.44, the measured maximum light intensity variation and the sensor’s sensitivity are -32.41 dB and -21.25 dB/, respectively. The sensor demonstrates good stability with the light intensity fluctuation of < 1.26 dB over a 30-minute duration

Duckweed (Lemna minor) as a Model Plant System for the Study of Human Microbial Pathogenesis

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Plant infection models provide certain advantages over animal models in the study of pathogenesis. However, current plant models face some limitations, e.g., plant and pathogen cannot co-culture in a contained environment. Development of such a plant model is needed to better illustrate host-pathogen interactions. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: We describe a novel model plant system for the study of human pathogenic bacterial infection on a large scale. This system was initiated by co-cultivation of axenic duckweed (Lemna minor) plants with pathogenic bacteria in 24-well polystyrene cell culture plate. Pathogenesis of bacteria to duckweed was demonstrated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus as two model pathogens. P. aeruginosa PAO1 caused severe detriment to duckweed as judged from inhibition to frond multiplication and chlorophyll formation. Using a GFP-marked PAO1 strain, we demonstrated that bacteria colonized on both fronds and roots and formed biofilms. Virulence of PAO1 to duckweed was attenuated in its quorum sensing (QS) mutants and in recombinant strains overexpressing the QS quenching enzymes. RN4220, a virulent strain of S. aureus, caused severe toxicity to duckweed while an avirulent strain showed little effect. Using this system for antimicrobial chemical selection, green tea polyphenols exhibited inhibitory activity against S. aureus virulence. This system was further confirmed to be effective as a pathogenesis model using a number of pathogenic bacterial species. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Our results demonstrate that duckweed can be used as a fast, inexpensive and reproducible model plant system for the study of host-pathogen interactions, could serve as an alternative choice for the study of some virulence factors, and could also potentially be used in large-scale screening for the discovery of antimicrobial chemicals

Blood n-3 fatty acid levels and total and cause-specific mortality from 17 prospective studies.

The health effects of omega-3 fatty acids have been controversial. Here we report the results of a de novo pooled analysis conducted with data from 17 prospective cohort studies examining the associations between blood omega-3 fatty acid levels and risk for all-cause mortality. Over a median of 16 years of follow-up, 15,720 deaths occurred among 42,466 individuals. We found that, after multivariable adjustment for relevant risk factors, risk for death from all causes was significantly lower (by 15-18%, at least p < 0.003) in the highest vs the lowest quintile for circulating long chain (20-22 carbon) omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic, docosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic acids). Similar relationships were seen for death from cardiovascular disease, cancer and other causes. No associations were seen with the 18-carbon omega-3, alpha-linolenic acid. These findings suggest that higher circulating levels of marine n-3 PUFA are associated with a lower risk of premature death. The EPIC Norfolk study (DOI 10.22025/2019.10.105.00004) has received funding from the Medical Research Council (MR/N003284/1 and MC-UU_12015/1) and Cancer Research UK (C864/A14136).
