The concept of image according to John Amos Comenius and new media

The visual culture and communication through images are important aspects of contemporary culture, especially when we talk about the use of new media. The images affect the viewer in different ways and are also used for educational purposes. John Amos Comenius, as a reformer of the educational system in the modern era, was also a precursor of the use of images in education. We are facing a similar challenge today―to create a model of education based on new media, in which the aspects of word, image and music in teaching are skillfully combined. In the analytical part of the article, the author compares the significance of images from the perspective of Comenius with contemporary theory of visual communication, especially in the concept of William J. Narratives about Cyborgization in the Context of Technoevolution

The article is devoted to cultural narratives about cyborgization, in which the relationship between man and cyber machine is described. In this new approach, the machine becomes part of the human body, allows man to improve the quality of life, but also can complement human natural abilities with new (“artificial”) competences. The author of the article analyses the problem of three cultural narratives regarding human cyborgization. These three narrative models are engineering-pragmatic, biological-evolutionary and cultural-humanistic. They constitute the contemporary social imaginarium on the subject of technoevolution and the relationship between man and cyber machine. The author of the article, on the example of Andy Clark’s concept of the natural cyborg, verifies the thesis whether agreement is possible between these narratives. The issue of social acceptance for cyborgization is particularly important in the context of technological progress and questions about the essence of man and technology in the light of new opportunities offered by modern biotechnology and robotics with the view of improving the quality of human life.Artykuł poświęcony jest narracjom kulturowym na temat cyborgizacji, w których zostaje opisana relacja między człowiekiem i cybermaszyną. W tym nowym ujęciu maszyna staje się częścią ludzkiego ciała, pozwala człowiekowi na poprawę jakości życia, ale może także uzupełnić ludzkie naturalne zdolności, wyposażając go w nowe („sztuczne”) kompetencje. Autor artykułu poddaje analizie problem trzech kulturowych narracji kulturowych dotyczących cyborgizacji człowieka. Te trzy modele narracji to narracja inżyniersko-pragmatyczna, biologiczno-ewolucyjna i kulturowo-humanistyczna. Stanowią one współczesne imaginaria społeczne na temat technoewolucji i związku człowieka z cybermaszyną. Autor artykułu na przykładzie koncepcji naturalnego cyborga Andy’ego Clarka sprawdza tezę, czy jest możliwe porozumienie między tymi narracjami. Kwestia społecznej akceptacji dla cyborgizacji jest szczególnie ważna z punktu widzenia postępu technologicznego oraz pytania o istotę człowieka i techniki w odniesieniu do nowych możliwości, jakie daje współczesna biotechnologia i robotyka w kontekście poprawy ­jakości naszego życia

Sp irituality and Subj ectivity in the Cyberspace

The author of the article analyses the problem of spirituality and subjectivity in the context of the issue of interpersonal communication in the cyberspace. Spirituality is deeply connected with the concept of soul and spirit, and it is usually associated with the religious image of the world, but it is possible to express the problem of spirituality in a broad anthropological and cultural context. In the modern concept of a human being, one usually resigns from using the term “soul”, but treats seriously problems that concern a spiritual man, such as the consciousness and activity of the subject, and individual identity. The author of the article postulates a return to the interest in the issues of spirituality in the context of a reasonable use of technological tools, and to the defence of one’s own authenticity of experiences and agency in relation to the contemporary activities in the cyber world

Etyka jako utopia społeczna : Analiza w perspektywie filozofii wartości

Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu obecności wątku utopijnego w etyce, szczególnie w etyce opartej na filozofii wartości. Ogólnym punktem odniesienia jest tutaj koncepcja niemieckiego filozofa Nicolai Hartmanna. Etyka normatywna z istoty swojej nastawiona jest na zmianę ludzkich zachowań moralnych w kierunku jakiejś istotnej wartości (dobra), szczególnie dobra społecznego. Nigdy nie ma pewności, że zalecenia etyczne będą realizowane, dlatego w pewnym sensie mają charakter utopijny. To jednak nie przeszkadza w formułowaniu programów etycznych proponujących zmianę postaw i zachowań. Odróżniam utopizm etyczny od utopizmu. Ten ostatni wiążę z klasycznymi teoriami ideologów życia społecznego i współczesnych specjalistów od zarządzania organizacjami. Utopizm etyczny przejawia się w pewnym sposobie rozumienia kodeksów etycznych jako czegoś co zakłada instytucjonalnie wymuszanie postaw i zachowań moralnych w przedsiębiorstwie
