Holographic Tunneling Wave Function

The Hartle-Hawking wave function in cosmology can be viewed as a decaying wave function with anti-de Sitter (AdS) boundary conditions. We show that the growing wave function in AdS familiar from Euclidean AdS/CFT is equivalent, semiclassically and up to surface terms, to the tunneling wave function in cosmology. The cosmological measure in the tunneling state is given by the partition function of certain relevant deformations of CFTs on a locally AdS boundary. We compute the partition function of finite constant mass deformations of the O(N) vector model on the round three sphere and show this qualitatively reproduces the behaviour of the tunneling wave function in Einstein gravity coupled to a positive cosmological constant and a massive scalar. In this text we present a description of the situation visualized in the city of Eldorado, Province of Misiones, Argentina, with regard to the problematic of disabled people (from here on PD) and the need of the implementation of an appropiate public policy of communication about their rights. The initial premise of this work is that if the public policy in charge of communicate about handicapped people rights is carried out in an appropiate way, it will benefit them with a better life quality. This would be favourable to them because they would achieve autonomy and real inlusion.En este texto presentamos una descripción de la situación que se visualiza en la ciudad de Eldorado, Provincia de Misiones, Argentina, con respecto a la problemática de las personas discapacitadas (de aquí en adelante PD) y de la necesidad de la implementación de políticas públicas adecuadas de comunicación sobre los derechos de las mismas. Domain walls inside localised orientifolds

The equations of motion of toroidal orientifold compactifications with fluxes are in one-to-one correspondence with gauged supergravity if the orientifold (and D-brane) sources are smeared over the compact space. This smeared limit is identical to the approximation that ignores warping. It is therefore relevant to compare quantities obtained from the gauged supergravity with the true 10d solution with localised sources. In this paper we find the correspondence between BPS domain walls in gauged SUGRA and 10D SUGRA with localised sources. Our model is the simplest orientifold with fluxes we are aware of: an O6/D6 compactification on T^3/Z_2 in massive IIA with H_3-flux. The BPS domain walls correspond to a O6/D6/NS5/D8 bound state. Our analysis reveals that the domain wall energy computed in gauged SUGRA is unaffected by the localisation of the O6/D6 sources.Comment: 26 pages, 1 figur

Investigating the origin of breakage of panes subjected to blast loading by acoustic emission testing

The Fraunhofer EMI shock-tube facility “Blast-STAR” is used to simulate blast loadings from high explosive detonations similar to realistic conditions. Mainly tests on explosion-resistant safety glazing and façades are carried out. Due to the extreme conditions during the test, it is not trivial to accurately analyze the specimen reaction and in particular to determine the start of breakage of the glass pane. Usually high-speed footage is used for this purpose. Since the size of tested elements is increasing, the determination of place and time of breakage becomes more challenging. Monk and Clubley successfully used piezo transducers in an alternative approach to measure the shock wave originating from glass breakage for detecting the point of initial cracking. They used long-duration blasts, characterized by small peak pressures and a long positive phase duration. In contrast, the blast waves generated with the “Blast-STAR” are characterized by higher peak pressures and a considerable shorter positive phase. The presented work examines the applicability of the approach for the “Blast-STAR” experiments and the accuracy compared to video recordings. Within the paper five shock tube tests are described and evaluated. The results and the experimental set-up are discussed and an outlook for further research is given
