THE INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES IMPROVING COMPETITIVENESS OF TRANSPORT COMPANIES

The article refers to the challenges aimed at identifying decisions that translate into optimization in the TFL industry, on the example of selected activities of transport companies. Awareness of high competitiveness should influence the well-thought-out directions of development of business owners and managerial staff in the context of creating the company's distinguishing features. They should be viewed on a global scale in order to increase profit and optimize costs. The article shows a direct connection between optimal patterns of action and the undertaken non-intuitive and innovative activities with the possible development of market niches. Polskie doświadczenia z członkostwa w NATO 15 lat po utworzeniu NACC (Północnoatlantyckiej Rady Współpracy)

"Przemiany polityczne w Europie Centralnej i Wschodniej w latach 1998-2001 wywołały bardzo intensywną dyskusję polityczną w Sojuszu Północnoatlantyckim, która zaowocowała otwarciem NATO na dialog z państwami tego obszaru. Krokiem milowym na tej drodze był Szczyt NATO w Rzymie, gdzie w dniu 27 października 1991 r. ogłoszono Rzymską Deklarację o Pokoju i Współpracy. W grudniu 1991 r. polski minister spraw zagranicznych Krzysztof Skubiszewski uczestniczył w Brukseli w pierwszym spotkaniu Północnoatlantyckiej Rady Współpracy - North Atlantic Cooperation Council (NACC), zwołanej w wyniku postanowień Szczytu Rzymskiego. NACC otworzyła okres współpracy NATO z państwami byłego bloku sowieckiego. W kwietniu następnego roku, również w Brukseli, minister Jan Parys i wiceminister Radosław Sikorski uczestniczyli w pierwszym spotkaniu ministrów obrony NACC. NATO próbowało znaleźć formułę współpracy z państwami odzyskującymi suwerenność narodową, dotychczas zdominowanymi lub ujarzmionymi przez Rosję Sowiecką."(...

A very special EPW sextic and two IHS fourfolds

We show that the Hilbert scheme of two points on the Vinberg $K3$ surface has a 2:1 map onto a very symmetric EPW sextic $Y$ in $\mathbb{P}^5$. The fourfold $Y$ is singular along $60$ planes, $20$ of which form a complete family of incident planes. This solves a problem of Morin and O'Grady and establishes that $20$ is the maximal cardinality of such a family of planes. Next, we show that this Hilbert scheme is birationally isomorphic to the Kummer type IHS fourfold $X_0$ constructed in [DW]. We find that $X_0$ is also related to the Debarre-Varley abelian fourfold.Comment: 32 page

Leki przeciwpłytkowe w leczeniu i profilaktyce udaru niedokrwiennego mózgu.

The pathology of blood platelet function plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke. The link between their overactivation and aggregation as well as the process of atherosclerotic plaque formation and, as a result, the increased risk of non-embolic stroke is indisputable. Antiplatelet therapy is the standard treatment and has become a well-established position in both, the treatment of acute phase, as well as a secondary prophylaxis of ischemic stroke. Acetylsalicylic acid is most commonly used for this purpose, however the use of other antiplatelet agents is discussed in the paper.Patologia funkcji płytek krwi odgrywa istotną rolę w patogenezie udaru niedokrwiennego mózgu. Bezdyskusyjny jest związek między ich nadmierną aktywacją i agregacją, a procesem powstawania blaszki miażdżycowej i w efekcie zwiększonym ryzykiem udaru mózgu na tle niezatorowym. Terapia przeciwpłytkowa jest standardem postępowania i ma ugruntowaną pozycję zarówno w leczeniu ostrej fazy, jak i w profilaktyce wtórnej udaru niedokrwiennego mózgu. Najczęściej stosowany jest w tym celu kwas acetylosalicylowy, niemniej jednak w niniejszej publikacji omówiono także możliwości zastosowania innych leków przeciwpłytkowych

Quantitative EEG analysis in diagnosing schizophrenia — review of concepts and findings

Celem pracy było przedstawienie przeglądu piśmiennictwa dotyczącego możliwości wykorzystania analizy zapisu elektroencefalograficznego w diagnostyce schizofrenii. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na możliwość różnicowania schizofrenii na kliniczne podtypy z dominującymi objawami negatywnymi i pozytywnymi na podstawie analizy spektralnej EEG.This paper is a literature review performed with a view of applying electroencephalography in diagnosing schizophrenia. Special attention has been paid to differentiation of schizophrenia based on positive and negative clinical subtypes with the use of quantitative EEG analysis

Assessment of the relationship between platelet reactivity, vascular risk factors and gender in cerebral ischaemia patients

Aim. Excessive activation and platelet aggregation play important roles in the aetiopathogenesis of cerebral ischaemia. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between platelet reactivity, gender and vascular risk factors in cerebral ischaemia patients.Clinical rationale for the study. The research is useful because we found high risk groups of inefficient aspirin treatment in cerebral ischaemia patients.Material and methods. The study involved 101 patients, including 69 patients with ischaemic stroke and 32 patients with transient ischaemic attack. The assessment of platelet reactivity was made within 24 hours of the disease onset using two aggregometric methods: impedance and optical.Results. Resistance to acetylsalicylic acid among people with cerebral ischaemia was estimated at 30.69% using impedance aggregometry and 9.2% using optical aggregometry. There were no differences in platelet reactivity or ASA resistance between the groups of patients with stroke and TIA in either method. In the whole group of patients (p = 0.04), and in the group of patients with stroke (p = 0.0143), higher reactivity of platelets was observed by impedance aggregometry in men than in women. In the whole group of patients (p = 0.0229), and in the subgroup with stroke (p = 0.0123), it was shown that aspirin resistance is significantly more common in the subgroup of men than in women. In patients suffering from nicotine addiction, significantly higher platelet reactivity was found in the whole group of patients (p = 0.004), as well as in the subgroup of patients with stroke (p = 0.0135).Conclusions. There are no differences between platelet reactivity and the incidence of aspirin resistance in patients with stroke and TIA. Male gender and smoking are associated with greater reactivity of platelets and more frequent occurrence of acetylsalicylic acid resistance in patients with cerebral ischaemia.Clinical implications. Dual antiplatelet therapy or clopidogrel treatment should be considered in smoking males with cerebral ischaemia due to the high risk of aspirin inefficiency
