    A potential relationship between MMP-9 rs2250889 and ischemic stroke susceptibility

    PurposeIschemic stroke (IS), a serious cerebrovascular disease, greatly affects people's health and life. Genetic factors are indispensable for the occurrence of IS. As a biomarker for IS, the MMP-9 gene is widely involved in the pathophysiological process of IS. This study attempts to find out the relationship between MMP-9 polymorphisms and IS susceptibility.MethodsA total of 700 IS patients and 700 healthy controls were recruited. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers of the MMP-9 gene were genotyped by the MassARRAY analyzer. Multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) was applied to generate SNP–SNP interaction. Furthermore, the relationship between genetic variations (allele and genotype) of the MMP-9 gene and IS susceptibility was analyzed by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).ResultsOur results demonstrated that rs2250889 could significantly increase the susceptibility to IS in the codominant, dominant, overdominant, and log-additive models (p < 0.05). Further stratification analysis showed that compared with the control group, rs2250889 was associated with IS risk in different case groups (age, female, smoking, and non-drinking) (p < 0.05). Based on MDR analysis, rs2250889 was the best model for predicting IS risk (cross-validation consistency: 10/10, OR = 1.56 (1.26–1.94), p < 0.001).ConclusionOur study preliminarily confirmed that SNP rs2250889 was significantly associated with susceptibility to IS

    Prevalence, associated factors and outcomes of pressure injuries in adult intensive care unit patients: the DecubICUs study

Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients. Methods: International 1-day point-prevalence study; follow-up for outcome assessment until hospital discharge (maximum 12 weeks). Factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injury and hospital mortality were assessed by generalised linear mixed-effects regression analysis. Results: Data from 13,254 patients in 1117 ICUs (90 countries) revealed 6747 pressure injuries; 3997 (59.2%) were ICU-acquired. Overall prevalence was 26.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 25.9–27.3). ICU-acquired prevalence was 16.2% (95% CI 15.6–16.8). Sacrum (37%) and heels (19.5%) were most affected. Factors independently associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries were older age, male sex, being underweight, emergency surgery, higher Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Braden score 3 days, comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency), organ support (renal replacement, mechanical ventilation on ICU admission), and being in a low or lower-middle income-economy. Gradually increasing associations with mortality were identified for increasing severity of pressure injury: stage I (odds ratio [OR] 1.5; 95% CI 1.2–1.8), stage II (OR 1.6; 95% CI 1.4–1.9), and stage III or worse (OR 2.8; 95% CI 2.3–3.3). Conclusion: Pressure injuries are common in adult ICU patients. ICU-acquired pressure injuries are associated with mainly intrinsic factors and mortality. Optimal care standards, increased awareness, appropriate resource allocation, and further research into optimal prevention are pivotal to tackle this important patient safety threat

    王慧,厦门大学在读博士,研究方向:女性社会学、发展社会学。 叶文振,福建江夏学院副校长、教授、博导,研究方向:人口学、女性社会学。【中文摘要】海峡两岸同宗同源,同属中华传统文化体系,但政治体系和教育思想不同,使得大学生的就业结构呈现出不同特点。本文运用福建省五所高校大学生就业问题调查数据和台湾青年劳工就业状况调查数据,运用社会性别理论深入探讨两岸女大学生就业质量的影响因素及其作用机制。研究发现,性别歧视在海峡两岸的劳动力市场都存在,但大陆的性别差异程度更显著。回归分析结果显示,社会性因素对女大学生就业质量的影响力度较个体因素影响更大,社会性别意识的提高,性别角色的塑造才能有效消减就业质量的性别差异。 【Abstract】 On both sides of the Taiwan Straits the consanguinity belong to the Chinese traditional cultural system, but different education ideological and political system, making the employment structure of the college students showed different characteristics. The article using the social gender theory to deeply study on both sides of the female college students’ employment quality influencing factors and mechanism in the Fujian Province university students, employment survey data and Taiwan youth labor employment survey data. The study found that gender discrimination exists in both sides of the Strait of the labor market, but the degree of gender differences, the more significant. In her whole life,a woman functions as a mother, a daughter and a wife. Especially within the traditional Chinese ethical framework of “duty according with name” ,she is further expected to be a loving mother, a filial daughter and a good wife. By means of so-called “rectification of names according to propriety”, the aforesaid ethical roles of woman contribute to the harmony and stability of a family. In consideration of such facts in modern society as the increasing of female social communication,the growing of gender awareness,and the pervading of the idea of gender equality, I suggest that traditional view of woman's ethical roles in a family should be adjusted in both form and content to our times. And I believe that such a critically renewed model of traditional ethics will be significant for the constructing of harmonious families,for the self-development and self-perfection of women,and for the actualization the equality of the genders

    Development of Ultra-high Pressure Cooling and Quick Freezing Device Based on Hydraulic Transmission

    Based on the theory of high pressure supercooling and pressure relief quick freezing, the ultra-high pressure instantaneous freezing device is developed. This device can break through the limitations of existing ultra-high pressure device design. Through the new hydraulic transmission design, It can complete fast pressurization, fast pressure relief and achieve continuous work. The matching of whole systems under certain load conditions, hydraulic transmission system, refrigeration system, pressure vessel and pressure relief system has been completed. The device can realize the whole process of ultra-high pressure quick freezing from food feeding, pressure cooling, pressure relief instant freezing and semi-automatic food discharging. Compared with the conventional same-capacity quick-freezing device, the energy consumption of the instantaneous freezing device under the design condition is only 24.52% of that of the traditional quick-freezing device, which greatly saves energy consumption. From the perspective of application, the design concept of ultra-high pressure quick-freezing device is perfected and the practical process of ultra-high pressure quick-freezing is advanced

    Regret Theory and Fuzzy-DEMATEL-Based Model for Construction Program Manager Selection in China

    During the drastic changing process of the construction industry in China, construction program management has been given significant attention. Due to the complexity of construction programs, selecting competent managers is crucially important to its success. Therefore, based on a comprehensive literature review, this paper combines regret theory and the Fuzzy-DEMATEL method to develop a multi-attribute model for construction program manager selection. Firstly, six competence elements are extracted, then the manager selection and evaluation index system are constructed. Secondly, the regret theory is used to simulate the psychological characteristics of the decision makers, combined with Fuzzy-DEMATEL, the comprehensive weights for each element are calculated. Lastly, all alternatives for the selection are sorted and the competent ones are selected. A case study is provided to exam the effectiveness of the developed model. Results shows that the proposed model adopted multi-attribute evaluation and group decision making and took into account the psychological behavior of decision makers as well as influences from the relationships between different attributes. Such results indicate that the proposed model is able to provide more comprehensive and scientific construction program manager selections, which can further improve the management of construction programs
