Advancing algorithmic bias management capabilities in AI-driven marketing analytics research
Algorithms in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) constantly transform customer behaviour, marketing programs, and marketing strategies in industrial markets. However, algorithms often fail to perform as expected due to various data, model, and market biases. Motivated by this challenge, this study presents a framework of algorithmic bias management capabilities for industrial markets that contribute to customer equity in terms of value, brand and relationship equity. Drawing on the dynamic capability theory, this study fills this gap by conducting a literature review, thematic analysis, and two rounds of surveys (n=200 analytics professionals and n=200 business customers) in the financial service industry in Australia. The findings show that algorithmic bias management capability consists of three primary dimensions (data, model, and deployment capabilities) and nine subdimensions. These findings have important implications for scholars and managers interested in developing algorithmic bias management capabilities to influence customer equity in industrial markets

Observation of single collisionally cooled trapped ions in a buffer gas
Individual Ba ions are trapped in a gas-filled linear ion trap and observed
with a high signal-to-noise ratio by resonance fluorescence. Single-ion storage
times of ~5 min (~1 min) are achieved using He (Ar) as a buffer gas at
pressures in the range 8e-5 - 4e-3 torr. Trap dynamics in buffer gases are
experimentally studied in the simple case of single ions. In particular, the
cooling effects of light gases such as He and Ar and the destabilizing
properties of heavier gases such as Xe are studied. A simple model is offered

A linear RFQ ion trap for the Enriched Xenon Observatory
The design, construction, and performance of a linear radio-frequency ion
trap (RFQ) intended for use in the Enriched Xenon Observatory (EXO) are
described. EXO aims to detect the neutrinoless double-beta decay of Xe
to Ba. To suppress possible backgrounds EXO will complement the
measurement of decay energy and, to some extent, topology of candidate events
in a Xe filled detector with the identification of the daughter nucleus
(Ba). The ion trap described here is capable of accepting, cooling, and
confining individual Ba ions extracted from the site of the candidate
double-beta decay event. A single trapped ion can then be identified, with a
large signal-to-noise ratio, via laser spectroscopy.Comment: 18 pages, pdflatex, submitted to NIM
Bi-Large Neutrino Mixing See-Saw Mass Matrix with Texture Zeros and Leptogenesis
We study constraints on neutrino properties from texture zeros in bi-large
mixing See-Saw mass matrix and also from leptogenesis. Texture zeros may occur
in the light (class a)) or in the heavy (class b)) neutrino mass matrices. Each
of these two classes has 5 different forms which can produce non-trivial three
generation mixing with at least one texture zero. We find that two types of
texture zero mass matrices in both class a) and class b) can be consistent with
present data on neutrino masses, mixing and produce the observed baryon
asymmetry of the universe. None of the neutrinos can have zero masses with the
lightest of the light neutrinos having a mass larger than about 0.039 eV for
class a) and 0.002 eV for class b). In these models although CKM CP violating
phase vanishes, non-zero Majorana phases, however, can exist and play an
important role in producing the observed baryon asymmetry in our universe
through leptogenesis mechanism. The requirement of producing the observed
baryon asymmetry can further distinguish different models and also restrict the

A liquid xenon ionization chamber in an all-fluoropolymer vessel
A novel technique has been developed to build vessels for liquid xenon
ionization detectors entirely out of ultra-clean fluoropolymer. We describe the
advantages in terms of low radioactivity contamination, provide some details of
the construction techniques, and show the energy resolution achieved with a
prototype all-fluoropolymer ionization detector.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure
Syzygium jambos
The present study was designed to evaluate the antibacterial activities of methanol extracts of bark and leaves of Syzygium jambos, as well as their synergistic effects with selected antibiotics against drug-resistant Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The crude extracts were subjected to qualitative phytochemical screening; broth microdilution method was used for antibacterial assays. Phytochemical studies indicate that leaves and bark extracts contained polyphenols, anthraquinones, tannins, and steroids. Extract of the leaves was active against all the 26 strains of Staphylococcus aureus and all the 21 strains of Gram-negative bacteria tested, within the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) range of 32–512 μg/mL. The lowest MIC value of 32 μg/mL was obtained with extract of the leaves against Staphylococcus aureus MRSA9 strain. In Gram-negative bacteria, the lowest MIC value of 64 μg/mL was also obtained against Enterobacter aerogenes EA294 and Klebsiella pneumoniae K24 strains. Against S. aureus strains, antibiotic-modulating activity of extracts at MIC/2 towards more than 70% of the tested strains was obtained when leaves and bark extracts were tested in association with chloramphenicol (CHL). This was also the case when leaves extract was combined with CHL, kanamycin (KAN), tetracycline (TET), and erythromycin (ERY) and when bark extract was combined with ciprofloxacin (CIP), TET, and ERY against Gram-negative bacteria. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that Syzygium jambos has antibacterial and antibiotic-modulating activities
Systematic study of trace radioactive impurities in candidate construction materials for EXO-200
The Enriched Xenon Observatory (EXO) will search for double beta decays of
136Xe. We report the results of a systematic study of trace concentrations of
radioactive impurities in a wide range of raw materials and finished parts
considered for use in the construction of EXO-200, the first stage of the EXO
experimental program. Analysis techniques employed, and described here, include
direct gamma counting, alpha counting, neutron activation analysis, and
