The Design and Evaluation of a Knowledge-intensive System
AbstractTo make an appropriate decision, a manager needs to be supported with qualified information and adequate knowledge in interpreting the information. A challenging situation arises when the manager has only limited time for formulating an appropriate decision. One of the solutions is to support the manager with a Knowledge-intensive System (KIS). The paper presents the findings of an evaluation of a KIS called Leading to Information Access (LIA). There are four principal components in the evaluation of LIA, namely (1) an acceptable satisfaction level in using LIA, (2) good assessment of LIA s performance, (3) an acceptable level of computer literacy, and (4) a high confidence of LIA s usefulness

Surface and electronic structure of MOCVD-grown Ga(0.92)In(0.08)N investigated by UV and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies
The surface and electronic structure of MOCVD-grown layers of
Ga(0.92)In(0.08)N have been investigated by means of photoemission. An
additional feature at the valence band edge, which can be ascribed to the
presence of In in the layer, has been revealed. A clean (0001)-(1x1) surface
was prepared by argon ion sputtering and annealing. Stability of chemical
composition of the investigated surface subjected to similar ion etching was
proven by means of X-ray photoemission spectroscopy.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure
Potential for comparative public opinion research in public administration
The public administration and public services have always taken a
marginal place in the political scientists’ behavioural research.
Public administration students on the other hand tend to focus on
political and administrative elites and institutions, and largely
ignored citizens in comparative research. In this article we make a
plea for international comparative research on citizens’ attitudes
towards the public administration from an interdisciplinary
perspective. Available international survey material is discussed, and
main trends in empirical practice and theoretical approaches are
outlined, especially those with a potential impact on public sector
reform
Study of the deformation-driving vd5/2 orbital in 6728Ni39 using one-neutron transfer reactions
Abstract The ν g 9 / 2 , d 5 / 2 , s 1 / 2 orbitals are assumed to be responsible for the swift onset of collectivity observed in the region below 68Ni. Especially the single-particle energies and strengths of these orbitals are of importance. We studied such properties in the nearby 67Ni nucleus, by performing a ( d , p ) -experiment in inverse kinematics employing a post-accelerated radioactive ion beam (RIB) at the REX-ISOLDE facility. The experiment was performed at an energy of 2.95 MeV/u using a combination of the T-REX particle detectors, the Miniball γ-detection array and a newly-developed delayed-correlation technique as to investigate μs-isomers. Angular distributions of the ground state and multiple excited states in 67Ni were obtained and compared with DWBA cross-section calculations, leading to the identification of positive-parity states with substantial ν g 9 / 2 (1007 keV) and ν d 5 / 2 (2207 keV and 3277 keV) single-particle strengths up to an excitation energy of 5.8 MeV. 50% of the ν d 5 / 2 single-particle strength relative to the ν g 9 / 2 -orbital is concentrated in and shared between the first two observed 5 / 2 + levels. A comparison with extended Shell Model calculations and equivalent (3He, d) studies in the region around 9040Zr50 highlights similarities for the strength of the negative-parity pf and positive-parity g 9 / 2 state, but differences are observed for the d 5 / 2 single-particle strength
