Using evaluation techniques and performance claims to demonstrate public relations impact: An Australian perspective
Public relations professionals use many methods to demonstrate their contribution to organizational goals, yet it is unclear how their attitudes towards evaluation and the reporting of success matches real outcomes. Ten years after the International Public Relations Association produced an evaluation gold paper, this study combines research on Australian practitioners’ evaluation practices and attitudes, and data from industry awards to identify how practitioners demonstrate their accountability. Data suggest that despite the attention paid to evaluation by the academy and industry, practitioners still focus on measuring outputs, not outcomes to demonstrate performance and continue to rely heavily on media-based evaluation methods
Electron transport in the dye sensitized nanocrystalline cell
Dye sensitised nanocrystalline solar cells (Gr\"{a}tzel cells) have achieved
solar-to-electrical energy conversion efficiencies of 12% in diffuse daylight.
The cell is based on a thin film of dye-sensitised nanocrystalline TiO
interpenetrated by a redox electrolyte. The high surface area of the TiO
and the spectral characteristics of the dye allow the device to harvest 46% of
the solar energy flux. One of the puzzling features of dye-sensitised
nano-crystalline solar cells is the slow electron transport in the titanium
dioxide phase. The available experimental evidence as well as theoretical
considerations suggest that the driving force for electron collection at the
substrate contact arises primarily from the concentration gradient, ie the
contribution of drift is negligible. The transport of electrons has been
characterised by small amplitude pulse or intensity modulated illumination.
Here, we show how the transport of electrons in the Gr\"{a}tzel cell can be
described quantitatively using trap distributions obtained from a novel charge
extraction method with a one-dimensional model based on solving the continuity
equation for the electron density. For the first time in such a model, a back
reaction with the I ions in the electrolyte that is second order in the

SIAMESE cooperates with the CDH1-like protein CCS52A1 to establish endoreplication in Arabidopsis thaliana trichomes
Endoreplication, also known as endoreduplication, is a phyogenetically widespread modified version of the cell cycle in which DNA replication is not followed by cell division. The SIAMESE (SIM) gene of Arabidopsis thaliana encodes the founding member of a novel class of plant-specific cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitors and is a key regulator of endoreplication during the development of trichomes (shoot epidermal hairs). Here, we have identified mutations in the CCS52A1 gene as genetic modifiers of the multicellular trichome phenotype of sim mutants. Loss-of-function ccs52A1 mutations dramatically enhance the multicellularity of sim mutants trichomes in double mutants, whereas overexpression of CCS52A1 completely suppresses the sim mutant phenotype. CCS52A1 encodes a CDH1/FZR-like protein, a class of proteins that function as activators of the anaphase-promoting complex. Unicellular ccs52A1 trichomes become multicellular upon overexpression of B-type cyclin, consistent with repression of the accumulation of mitotic cyclins in the developing trichome by CCS52A1. As these M-phase-specific cyclins are known to accumulate in sim mutant trichomes, our data suggest that CCS52A1 and SIM cooperate in repressing accumulation of mitotic cyclins to establish the trichome endocycle. Comparison with endoreplication pathways in Drosophila and mammals indicates that while these organisms all use similar components to initiate endoreplication, the components are deployed differently in each organism. Persistent currents in two dimensions: New regimes induced by the interplay between electronic correlations and disorder
Using the persistent current I induced by an Aharonov-Bohm flux in square
lattices with random potentials, we study the interplay between electronic
correlations and disorder upon the ground state (GS) of a few polarized
electrons (spinless fermions) with Coulomb repulsion. K being the total
momentum, we show that I is proportional to K in the continuum limit. We use
this relation to distinguish between the continuum regimes, where the lattice
GS behaves as in the continuum limit and I is independent of the interaction
strength U when K is conserved, and the lattice regimes where I decays as U
increases. Changing the disorder strength W and U, we obtain many regimes which
we study using the map of local currents carried by three spinless fermions

Offering weight management support to pregnant women with high body mass index: A qualitative study with midwives
Objective: The prevalence of pregnant women with high body mass index is increasing worldwide. High body mass index is associated with health risks for mother and baby and supporting healthy gestational weight gain is important. Midwives play an important role in supporting women to engage in behaviours such as healthy eating and physical activity. The aim of this study was to explore how midwives’ support pregnant women with high body mass index to establish a healthy lifestyle with emphasis on nutrition and physical activity in order to minimise gestational weight gain.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 midwives working in antenatal health care in Sweden. Interviews were conducted shortly after new guidelines on care for pregnant women with high body mass index had been introduced. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analysed by thematic analysis.
Results: Three main themes were identified; use a conscious approach, invite to participate and have a long-term health perspective. Midwives built a relationship with a woman through identifying her concerns and circumstances, before sensitively discussing weight. Some midwives used Motivational Interviewing to help women identify their own resources. To reach long-term health benefits, midwives set achievable goals with the women.
Conclusion: These study findings provide practical examples of how midwives can support women with weight management during pregnancy. Through being sensitive when developing a relationship, midwives enabled the women to identify their own resources and achievable goals. Support after the baby is born is needed subsequently to help women maintain their healthy behaviour changes
