    Digital Life Middle-Class on Instagram: Like, Share and Comment

    Instagram, today as a result of technology that is acculturated with economic, social and cultural factors, brings leisure to the middle class, they do activities freely in life such as hobbies, recreation. The middle class in accessing Instagram is reduced by the Instagram algorithm to be a one-dimensional human. The middle class will be a uniform individual with the same activities like share, and comment. The middle class is a lasting individual who runs consumerism where everything becomes a commodity and is trapped in relations in the algorithm of relationships made by Instagram. For the middle-class Instagram is a lifestyle and daily activity. Instagram, which is mediated via cell phone, is a new socialization space that frees someone from the rules and disciplines of the patriarchal system. This activity results in the middle class recognizing, embracing and exploring things that cannot be expressed in everyday reality. Instagram in the middle class produces digital life practices that want to show a lifestyle. This study examines the phenomenon of middle-class practice in showing the practice of digital life: like share and comment on Instagram. Researchers will use a virtual ethnographic method. The virtual ethnographic approach will be carried out because this research is an object in cyberspace so that it can adequately understand the way the subject interacts and collaborates through observed phenomena. Instagram is a photo showroom, a kind of private space because the user gallery can be designed in such a way as the user wishes, users upload whatever happens around them, which is considered to represent user activity. The three accounts examined by @fajarmantoo, @herni_maryuliani and @ rosakusumaazhar present activities in digital life. The fact that manifests these two accounts is that consumption and production in the Instagram arena provide the formation of social reality.     Community Bonokeling is an Islamic community that maintains traditional heritage of their ancestors. They have built a community based on the teachings from their ancestors. Bonokeling is an ascetic and rural community in Pekuncen that is surrounded by the dominance of puritan and goverment. As a subordinate society, Bonokeling community face pressure from and against domination of puritan using mimicry and mokery. They imitate what have been done by puritan with a modification of language and culture. They did it in order to maintain their existence as well as their tactics of resistance and negotiations toward the domination. Komunitas Bonokeling adalah komunitas masyarakat Islam penganut kepercayaan yang mempertahankan warisan tradisi nenek moyangnya. Mereka membangun komunitas berdasarkan pada ajaran leluhurnya. Komunitas Bonokeling di desa Pekuncen merupakan masyarakat yang asketis yang terkepung oleh dominasi agama puritan maupun negara. Sebagai masyarakat yang tersubordinasi, komunitas Bonokeling melawan tekanan dominasi agama puritan dengan melakukan mimikri dan sekaligus mokeri. Mereka meniru apa yang dilakukanoleh Islam puritan dengan permainan bahasa dan Perumitan-Perumitan budaya.     Kontruksi ldentitas melalui Stories Highlight Instagram Kalangan Kelas Menengah

    Instagram sebagai komoditi dunia siber ingin menyatukan dan menjadi entitas bagian gaya hidup masyarakat. Komunikasi antar manusia dalam Instagram dapat terjadi setiap saat selama terhubung�online, hampir setiap aktivitas pengguna dapat diabadikan dan dipublikasikan ke dalam instagram dalam hitungan detik. Produksi maupun konsumsi pesan terjadi di Instagram dilakukan dalam Instagram Stories sebagai produksi pesan status kelas menengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan konstruksi identitas melalui stories highlightInstagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, meneliti bagaimana kontruksi identitas melalui Instagram Stories yang dimiliki Instagram oleh kelas menengah dengan akun informan @putrilellyana, @rosakusumaazhar, @herni_maryuliani, @taufik.mbantul, @fajarmantoo. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan virtual etnografi dan indepth interview untuk menggali data agar dapat mendapatkan jawaban-jawaban atas permasalahan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa informan kelas menengah menggunakan Instagram sebagai media visual yang mampu menghadirkan simbol-simbol sebagai alat memproduksi makna dari suatu identitas yang ingin disampaikan. Diri yang dihadirkan informan di Instagram Stories merefleksikan leisure informan dalam melakukan aktivitas secara bebas dalam hidup seperti hobi, rekreasi, menambah pengetahuan tentang seni dan budaya dan juga mengisi kegiatan-kegiatan aktual untuk mengisi waktu luang. Substansi penelitian ini yaitu menemukan metode virtual etnografi yang belum banyak dikaji. Penelitian berkelanjutan mengenai kode-kode, nilai-nilai, dan keyakinan atas kebudayaan secara keseluruhan atas Instagram perlu digali untuk memperlihatkan hasil teknologi yang berakulturasi dengan faktor-faktor ekonomi, sosial dan budaya.     Komunikasi Visual: Fantasi Tubuh Wanita Kelas Menengah di Instagram

    Budaya manusia memberikan perwujudan kecantikan dalam doktrin rasis yang menyingkirkan heterogenitas perbedaan tubuh. Cantik menjadi standar representasi tubuh perempuan yang cantik dan ramping. Instagram memberikan ruang untuk wanita menjadi ramping dan cantik dengan berbagai sumber daya yang menegaskan perbedaan ramping dan gendut, serta menolak adanya representasi liyan terhadap tubuh. Tubuh gemuk akan dilekati oleh bayang-bayang obesitas sehingga gemuk menjadi sindrom bagi kebanyakan wanita. Instagram digunakan wanita kelas menengah untuk berfantasi mengenai tubuh yang dipresentasikan. Instagram dapat memanipulasi tubuh yang “nyata” mengikuti fantasi tubuh ketika memasuki logika Instagram yaitu visual artistik. Pengguna Instagram berfantasi dengan resources yang dimiliki Instagram, mereka berfantasi dengan tubuh ramping yang dipresentasikan di ruang online-feed Instagram. Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena praktik wanita kelas menengah dalam memperlihatkan perubahan signifikan yang tidak ada batasan ruang dan waktu di ruang Instagram. Analisa yang dilakukan di sini dengan mendasarkan pada teori wacana tekstual. Wacana senantiasa melibatkan kondisi sosial dalam memproduksi dan menafsirkannya. Kondisi�kondisi terkait erat dengan tiga tataran organisasi sosial: situasi sosial, institusi sosial dan tataran sosial secara umum. Melihat wacana sebagai praktik sosial berarti mengkaji teks dalam hal ini visual di Instagram, menganalisis produksi, interpretasi serta mendalami hubungan teks, proses dan kondisi-kondisi sosial baik konteks situasional-institusional serta tatanan masyarakat. Dua akun yang diteliti @putrilellyana dan @rosakusumaazhar menghadirkan wacana wanita mengenai tubuh. Kenyataan yang termanifestasikan dua akun ini bahwa konsumsi dan produksi dalam arena Instagram memberikan pembentukan pola realitas sosial. Instagram menjadi alat pembentuk konstruksi sosial, sekaligus pembentuk wujud kuasa kebenaran dalam realitas sosial, Instagram membuat ruang kendali keseragaman norma-norma kehidupan.     Aroma is a social phenomenon that embedded certain value and meaning from various culture. Fragrance use prohibition in Madrasah Mu'allimaat Muhammadiyah becomes an entrance to reveal how aroma matter was defined by female student and authority holder of madrasah.Although strict policies rule student's performance (including how to use fragrance), on the other hand, domination of artificial product is found in everyday life in student's boarding house.Research is conducted to explore practice and motive of fragrance use by female student. Beside that, this research will explain about fragrance discourse that operated among female student, which related to various factor.To reach those aims, this research used new ethnography approach by Saukko as methodology base with method of participatory and non-participatory observation. The collected data is analyzed by Goffman'stheory of body management and social interaction. The data is also analyzed by Gramsci's theory of Hegemony and Counter Hegemony to uncover the meaning of fragrance among female student which became contested site between religious school and market institution.Based on the analysis about fragrance consumption of female student, data gathered shows that first, fragrance was interpreted by female student as instrument of impression and relation. Second, fragrance use by female student is considered as everyday resistance towards �politic of madrasah smell� (prohibition of fragrance use upon female student which is legitimated by religious text). Third, permissiveness towards �artificial fragrances blow� by the girls could not be separated from the media discourse that construct. Therefore, it is not directly form a preference of the scent of an agreed concept, namely artificial fragrances, thus �blowing�the scent outside the �deal� (the body's natural scent) tend to be excluded.     MEDIA SEBAGAI RESPRODUKSI KELAS (Analisis Atas Teks dan Pembaca Koran Merapi)

    This study examines how the media (in this case Koran Merapi) plays a role in reproducing social class in society. To answer this, the analysis carried out on newspaper text and newspaper readers of Koran Merapi which are mostly the lower class. Text analysis is done to see the representation of the lower classes, while the public analysis is done to see the understanding of Koran Merapi texts readers. The results of textual analysis showed, both the text and the photos, that the lower classes are represented as criminal and immoral acts. In the photo, the lower classes are always represented as 'subject loser' subdued by law enforcement agencies, the police. They are represented as weak people without hope with a sense of shame for stealing. Meanwhile, public analysis found that Koran Merapi texts are read by the lower classes because the texts have relevance and value to the reader functionality. Koran Merapi become a source of knowledge for the readers, the knowledge of the past, knowledge of the health, and also 'knowledge of criminal' for environment supervision, and even the sources of knowledge value
