Background/Aim: Dermatoglyphics is supposed to be influenced by genetic and environmental factors and so also dental caries. Therefore, the present investigation was undertaken to find out a possible relation between some quantitative and qualitative dermatoglyphic variables and early childhood caries (ECC). Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 200 children in age group of 3 to 6 years from two private kindergarten, Egypt, and divided into 2 equal groups i.e. caries active group (n=100) and caries free group (n=100). The caries active group included children with dmft index = 4 or more and caries free group consist of normal, healthy children without any dental caries. The finger prints of both hands were taken using a stamp pad method then qualitative and quantitative data of dermatoglyphics were analyzed. Results: There was increase in frequency of whorls and decrease in frequency of loops in caries active group when compared to caries free group which was statistically significant (p = 0.000). The total finger ridge counts of whorls was higher in caries active children while total finger ridge counts of loops and the atd angles were higher in caries free children. The differences were statistically significant (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Early childhood caries susceptibility of an individual increased with increased frequency of whorl pattern but it decreased with increased frequency of loop pattern and increased atd angl

Anemia is a global public health problem in both developing and developed countries, especially among pregnant women. The aim of the study was to estimate the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in Sana'a governorate, Yemen, and to identify the determinants contributing to it, and to assess knowledge regarding it. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional approach. It included 360 pregnant women attending the maternity clinics of maternity hospitals. A predesigned structured interviewing questionnaire was used to collect data from the pregnant women. Laboratory investigations were done. The prevalence of anemia was found to be 40.3%, and was higher among females aged 35 to less than 45 years, those with poor income and poor nutritional level. The risk of anemia increased with the gestational age, gravidity, decreased birth spacing, drinking tea and coffee after meals, decreased intake of proteins and low level of knowledge and income. The binary logistic regression model indicated a significant impact of the education and occupation on the level of knowledge of pregnant women. Anemia was found out to be a severe public health problem among pregnant women in Yemen. Identified risk factors should be considered for its prevention and control

The paper aims at describing what can be learned from a Knowledge-intensive Sys-tem (KIS) by a manager of an Indonesian SME Garment Manufacturer (ISGM).For this purpose, we use the system LIA (Leading to Information Access). LIA isa system that (1) handles financial related transactions, (2) processes them accordingto Indonesian accounting standard procedures, and (3) gives the interpretation of theprocess results to the financial analysis. By learning from the interpretation of thecompany's historical data, an owner's understanding of critical financial factors ingarment industry may increase and let the company flourish

This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with content analysis, namely research that describes the Character of Nationalism and is then used to analyze the contents of teacher and class student books. 4 themes 5 My heroes. The results of the research and discussion that the researchers conducted showed that 1) The content of the character of nationalism in student books still contained some material that did not meet predetermined indicators, namely the "Let's Discuss" activity in the student book sub-theme 1 about Majapahit's territory, the "Let's Read" activity in student book subtheme 1 which discusses Mahapatih Gajah Mada, the "Let's Read" activity in the student book is discussing the text of the story entitled "Penataran Temple Complex". 2) The learning design for the teacher's Nationalism character content looks less varied and monotonous, making learning less meaningful

To measure the incidence of typhoid fever and other febrile illnesses in Bilbeis District, Egypt, we conducted a household survey to determine patterns of health seeking among persons with fever. Then we established surveillance for 4 months among a representative sample of health providers who saw febrile patients. Health providers collected epidemiologic information and blood (for culture and serologic testing) from eligible patients. After adjusting for the provider sampling scheme, test sensitivity, and seasonality, we estimated that the incidence of typhoid fever was 13/100,000 persons per year and the incidence of brucellosis was 18/100,000 persons per year in the district. This surveillance tool could have wide applications for surveillance for febrile illness in developing countries
