The Bank of Russia announced the financial recovery of Bank Otkritie FC, part of Otkritie Financial Corporation controlled by businessman Vadim Belyaev, on August 29 in the evening. This will be the first recovery in a new manner: through the banking sector consolidation fund (BSCF) established by the Bank of Russia, the regulator said in a press release. So, the Bank of Russia will be responsible for the financial recovery. Temporary administration was imposed in Bank Otkritie FC. This administration is composed of the employees of the Bank of Russia and a management company of the BSCF. The bank\u27s shares the Bank of Russia will acquire as a new shareholder and a turnaround manager will be transferred to and managed by this management company. The regulator will hold at least 75% of shares, the Bank of Russia specified. Up to 25% of shares will remain with the existing shareholders unless the temporary administration reveals that the bank\u27s capital is negative

Infrared Emission from Supernova Remnants: Formation and Destruction of Dust

We review the observations of dust emission in supernova rem- nants (SNRs) and supernovae (SNe). Theoretical calculations suggest that SNe, particularly core-collapse, should make significant quantities of dust, perhaps as much as a solar mass. Observations of extragalactic SNe have yet to find anywhere near this amount, but this may be the result of observa- tional limitations. SN 1987A, in the process of transitioning from a SN to an SNR, does show signs of a significant amount of dust forming in its ejecta, but whether this dust will survive the passage of the reverse shock to be injected into the ISM is unknown. IR observations of SNRs have not turned up significant quantities of dust, and the dust that is observed is generally swept-up by the forward shock, rather than created in the ejecta. Because the shock waves also destroy dust in the ISM, we explore the question of whether SNe might be net destroyers, rather than net creators of dust in the universe.Comment: Published in the Springer Handbook of Supernova

Not long ago, Otkritie Holding lost its core asset, Bank Otkritie FC. In the late part of August, the Bank of Russia announced the launch of the bank\u27s financial rehabilitation through the Banking Sector Consolidation Fund controlled by the regulator. Trust Bank, three pension funds and Rosgosstrakh were handed over to the Fund together with the bank. The Bank of Russia promised that if Otkritie FC\u27s capital happens to be positive, the bank\u27s shareholders would be able to keep 25% of shares. However, as of October 1, 2017, Bank Otkritie FC reported negative capital of RUB 188.9 billion

Concrete flat roof defects such as water leakage present a significant and common problem in large buildings, particularly in tropical countries, where rainfall is high. To monitor this condition, effective non-destructive test methods are required to detect problems at an early stage, especially hidden defects within the concrete roof, which are critical. This paper presents the potential use of electromagnetic (EM) waves for determining possible leakage of the concrete flat roof as a result of failure of the waterproof membrane layer. This study was assessed, experimentally by investigation of the propagation of EM waves through the roof and their interaction with water. Novel Microwave sensors described in the paper operate in the 6 GHz to 12 GHz frequency range using a Marconi 6200A microwave test set. A range of existing methods was reviewed and analysed. Results of experimental tests confirmed that microwaves could be used as an alternative non-destructive method for identifying water ingress caused by membrane failure into the concrete roof surface

Digitalization in supply chain management in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic is a necessity for producers. Efficiency and effectiveness in supply chain management, which was originally done through physical contact, is now very easy in the era of disruption that relies on engineering technology. Digitalization of supply chain governance is a challenge in this pandemic era as well as an open opportunity to achieve big profits, because of its efficiency and effectiveness in this activity directly between producers and consumers communicating with each other. No need to face to face physically, consumer ordering online is faster and companies in digital supply chain management are easy to respond to more quickly, optimally and variedly

which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Background: Noninvasive recording of movements caused by the heartbeat and the blood circulation is known as ballistocardiography. Several studies have shown the capability of a force plate to detect cardiac activity in the human body. The aim of this paper is to present a new method based on differential geometry of curves to handle multivariate time series obtained by ballistocardiographic force plate measurements. Results: We show that the recoils of the body caused by cardiac motion and blood circulation provide a noninvasive method of displaying the motions of the heart muscle and the propagation of the pulse wave along the aorta and its branches. The results are compared with the data obtained invasively during a cardiac catheterization. We show that the described noninvasive method is able to determine the moment of a particular heart movement or the time when the pulse wave reaches certain morphological structure. Conclusions: Monitoring of heart movements and pulse wave propagation may be used e.g. to estimate the aortic pulse wave velocity, which is widely accepted as an index of aortic stiffness wit

A dust-enshrouded tidal disruption event with a resolved radio jet in a galaxy merger

    Get PDF
Tidal disruption events (TDEs) are transient flares produced when a star is ripped apart by the gravitational field of a supermassive black hole (SMBH). We have observed a transient source in the western nucleus of the merging galaxy pair Arp 299 that radiated >1.5 × 1052 erg in the infrared and radio but was not luminous at optical or x-ray wavelengths. We interpret this as a TDE with much of its emission reradiated at infrared wavelengths by dust. Efficient reprocessing by dense gas and dust may explain the difference between theoretical predictions and observed luminosities of TDEs. The radio observations resolve an expanding and decelerating jet, probing the jet formation and evolution around a SMBH

Masonry compressive strength prediction using artificial neural networks

    Get PDF
The masonry is not only included among the oldest building materials, but it is also the most widely used material due to its simple construction and low cost compared to the other modern building materials. Nevertheless, there is not yet a robust quantitative method, available in the literature, which can reliably predict its strength, based on the geometrical and mechanical characteristics of its components. This limitation is due to the highly nonlinear relation between the compressive strength of masonry and the geometrical and mechanical properties of the components of the masonry. In this paper, the application of artificial neural networks for predicting the compressive strength of masonry has been investigated. Specifically, back-propagation neural network models have been used for predicting the compressive strength of masonry prism based on experimental data available in the literature. The comparison of the derived results with the experimental findings demonstrates the ability of artificial neural networks to approximate the compressive strength of masonry walls in a reliable and robust manner.- (undefined
