Process for the preparation of fluorine containing crosslinked elastomeric polytriazine and product so produced
Crosslinking elastomeric polytriazines are prepared by a 4 step procedure which consists of (1) forming a poly(imidoylamidine) by the reaction, under reflux conditions, of anhydrous ammonia with certain perfluorinated alkyl or alkylether dinitriles; (2) forming a linear polytriazine by cyclizing the imidoylamidine linkages by reaction with certain perfluorinated alkyl or alkylether acid anhydrides or halides; (3) extending the linear polytriazine chain by further refluxing in anhydrous ammonia; and (4) heating to cyclize the new imidoylamidine and thereby crosslink the polymer

Surface Curvature Differentially Regulates Stem Cell Migration and Differentiation via Altered Attachment Morphology and Nuclear Deformation
Signals from the microenvironment around a cell are known to influence cell behavior. Material properties, such as biochemical composition and substrate stiffness, are today accepted as significant regulators of stem cell fate. The knowledge of how cell behavior is influenced by 3D geometric cues is, however, strongly limited despite its potential relevance for the understanding of tissue regenerative processes and the design of biomaterials. Here, the role of surface curvature on the migratory and differentiation behavior of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) has been investigated on 3D surfaces with well-defined geometric features produced by stereolithography. Time lapse microscopy reveals a significant increase of cell migration speed on concave spherical compared to convex spherical structures and flat surfaces resulting from an upward-lift of the cell body due to cytoskeletal forces. On convex surfaces, cytoskeletal forces lead to substantial nuclear deformation, increase lamin-A levels and promote osteogenic differentiation. The findings of this study demonstrate a so far missing link between 3D surface curvature and hMSC behavior. This will not only help to better understand the role of extracellular matrix architecture in health and disease but also give new insights in how 3D geometries can be used as a cell-instructive material parameter in the field of biomaterial-guided tissue regeneration.Peer reviewe
Event-by-event fluctuations of the mean transverse momentum in 40, 80, and 158 A GeV/c Pb-Au collisions
Measurements of event-by-event fluctuations of the mean transverse momentum
in Pb-Au collisions at 40, 80, and 158 A GeV/c are presented. A significant
excess of mean p_T fluctuations at mid-rapidity is observed over the
expectation from statistically independent particle emission. The results are
somewhat smaller than recent measurements at RHIC. A possible non-monotonic
behaviour of the mean p_T fluctuations as function of collision energy, which
may have indicated that the system has passed the critical point of the QCD
phase diagram in the range of mu_B under investigation, has not been observed.
The centrality dependence of mean p_T fluctuations in Pb-Au is consistent with
an extrapolation from pp collisions assuming that the non-statistical
fluctuations scale with multiplicity. The results are compared to calculations
by the RQMD and UrQMD event generators.Comment: 28 pages, 10 figure
Transverse Momentum Fluctuations in Nuclear Collisions at 158 AGeV
Results are presented on event-by-event fluctuations in transverse momentum
of charged particles, produced at forward rapidities in p+p, C+C, Si+Si and
Pb+Pb collisions at 158 AGeV. Three different characteristics are discussed:
the average transverse momentum of the event, the Phi_pT fluctuation measure
and two-particle transverse momentum correlations. In the kinematic region
explored, the dynamical fluctuations are found to be small. However, a
significant system size dependence of Phi_pT is observed, with the largest
value measured in peripheral Pb+Pb interactions. The data are compared with

Observation of an Exotic S = -2, Q = -2 Baryon Resonance in Proton-Proton Collisions at the CERN SPS
Results of resonance searches in the Xi- pi-, Xi- pi+, antiXi+ pi- and
antiXi+ pi+ invariant mass spectra in proton-proton collisions at sqrt{s}=17.2
GeV are presented. Evidence is shown for the existence of a narrow Xi- pi-
baryon resonance with mass of 1.862+/-0.002 GeV/c^2 and width below the
detector resolution of about 0.018 GeV/c^2. The significance is estimated to be
4.0 sigma. This state is a candidate for the hypothetical exotic Xi_(3/2)^--
baryon with S = -2, I = 3/2 and a quark content of (d s d s ubar). At the same
mass a peak is observed in the Xi- pi+ spectrum which is a candidate for the
Xi_(3/2)^0 member of this isospin quartet with a quark content of (d s u s
dbar). The corresponding antibaryon spectra also show enhancements at the same

Energy dependence of multiplicity fluctuations in heavy ion collisions
The energy dependence of multiplicity fluctuations was studied for the most central Pb+Pb collisions at 20A, 30A, 40A, 80A and 158A GeV by the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS. The multiplicity distribution for negatively and positively charged hadrons is significantly narrower than Poisson one for all energies. No significant structure in energy dependence of the scaled variance of multiplicity fluctuations is observed. The measured scaled variance is lower than the one predicted by the grand-canonical formulation of the hadron-resonance gas model. The results for scaled variance are in approximate agreement with the string-hadronic model UrQMD
Rapidity and energy dependence of the electric charge correlations in A+A collisions at the SPS energies
Results from electric charge correlations studied with the Balance Function
method in A+A collisions from 20\emph{A} to 158\emph{A} GeV are presented in
two different rapidity intervals: In the mid-rapidity region we observe a
decrease of the width of the Balance Function distribution with increasing
centrality of the collision, whereas this effect vanishes in the forward
rapidity region.
Results from the energy dependence study in central Pb+Pb collisions show
that the narrowing of the Balance Function expressed by the normalised width
parameter \textit{W} increases with energy towards the highest SPS and RHIC
energies.
Finally we compare our experimental data points with predictions of several
models. The hadronic string models UrQMD and HIJING do not reproduce the
observed narrowing of the Balance Function. However, AMPT which contains a
quark-parton transport phase before hadronization can reproduce the narrowing
of the BF's width with centrality. This confirms the proposed sensitivity of
the Balance Function analysis to the time of hadronization.Comment: Submitted in Phys. Rev.
High p_T Spectra of Identified Particles Produced in Pb+Pb Collisions at 158A GeV Beam Energy
Results of the NA49 collaboration on the production of hadrons with large
transverse momentum in Pb+Pb collisions at 158A GeV beam energy are presented.
A range up to p_T = 4 GeV/c is covered. The nuclear modification factor R_CP is
extracted for pions, kaons and protons, and the baryon to meson ratios p/pi+,
pbar/pi- and Lambda/K^0_s are studied. All results are compared to other

Strangeness production at SPS energies
We present a summary of measurements of strange particles performed by the
experiment NA49 in central and minimum bias Pb+Pb collisions in the beam energy
range 20A - 158A GeV. New results on Xi production in central Pb+Pb collisions
and on Lambda, Xi production in minimum bias collisions are shown. Transverse
mass spectra and rapidity distributions of strange particles at different
energies are compared. The energy dependence of the particle yields and ratios
is discussed. NA49 measurements of the Lambda and Xi enhancement factors are
