This bachelor's thesis deals with the design and implementation of embedded voting device and application for voting. The proposed voting device uses Bluetooth Low-Energy protocol which helps to achieve low energy consumption. The result of this thesis is a fully functional prototype. UI application was created using the Qt framework and is responsible for handling wireless connections, processing of individual voices and displaying the voting results.

POVERTY IN CHINA AND ITS REGIONAL DISPARITIES

    No full text
The People's Republic of China has experienced since the late 70s unprecedented economic development. That is, on the one hand, coupled with the many positive aspects, on the other, but also brought some negative things. One of them was the increasing regional disparities and the related problems of poverty, which are the main subject of this thesis. Regional disparity is dealt through the provinces of Sichuan, Hunan and Liaoning, each of them represents one Chinese region. By comparing socio-economic development of these provinces it is found that the differences in their economic levels are greater than the differences in social level. But the important thing is that these differences in the last years are not deepening and there is a gradual narrowing of the gap between the East and the rest of the country. This is due not only to economic growth but also adopted government programs

    Why married men earn more?

    No full text
This thesis examines the question why married men earn more than men who have never been married. Several theories offer the explanation of this phenomena, most important are the productivity hypothesis and the selection hypothesis. Using longitudinal data from the NSLY97 (National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997) this thesis try to prove that the better health of married men is the source of the premium. Regression analysis shows that hourly wage of married men is in contrast with unmarried higher about 32,8 %. After including controlling variables for education or number of children wage premium drops to 7,7 %, but still remains statistically significant. However the analysis doesn't prove that better health is the reason for the existence of this wage premium

How to Select a Location and a Design of Measures on Land Drainage – A Case Study from the Czech Republic

    No full text
A new approach for sites prioritization and designing measures on land drainage was developed and tested on the 96.5 km2 Žejbro catchment (Czech Republic). The aim was to design an effective, mutually interconnected system of measures, on tiles, manholes, outlets as well as on ditches (s.c. main drainage facilities, MDF) that will increase water retention and storage in intensively farmed and tile-drained catchments and will reduce water pollution from subsurface non-point sources (drainage runoff). This approach consists of (I) selecting suitable sites using the Catchment Measures Need Index (CAMNI) method; (II) obtaining information on land drainage in the area of interest; (III) conducting a field survey and water quality monitoring; (IV) designing appropriate systems of measures; and (V) analysing the estimated costs of the proposed measures. Measures were proposed for fourteen sub-catchments that were selected based on the results of a CAMNI analysis and whether an MDF or a heavily modified stream is present. A total of 44 point measures, 62 areal measures, and 99 line measures were proposed. Implementation of these measures would reduce the load of N-NO3, a major pollutant from drainage runoff, by 44 tons per year (48%). From the financial point of view, these measures are not self-financing and the benefits do not cover the expected costs of their implementation and maintenance. However, these measures have a profound ecological and societal benefits which, when taken into account, make these measures suitable for implementation when (co-)financed from public budgets. Putting the presented approach into practice, for example, in the framework of complex land consolidations or by watershed management authorities, could significantly improve the condition and water regime of intensively drained agricultural landscapes

Comparison of the longitudinal and lateral profiles of watercourses using sonar-based methods (ADCP) and hydrological analogy

    No full text
In many cases, a flood wave has a pronounced transforming effect on the channel, and the knowledge of the watercourse longitudinal and lateral profiles is of great importance. To obtain data meeting these requirements with adequate accuracy, we alternated the conventional geodesic methods with sonar-based approaches – ADCP – and with results from the CroSolver software, constructed for obtaining bathymetric information. We compare results achieved from two approaches for preparing geometric data for hydrodynamic models. The respective approaches are considered as possible replacements for the costly conventional geodesic methods. The proposed methods use either data available from the continual monitoring of surface water courses (i.e., discharge measurements), which can capture precisely the lateral channel profile within the entire longitudinal profile, or a robust sonar-based system. Results obtained from the conducted studies show that our statement about a possibility to synthesize the ALS data with data from hydrological measurements or ADCP sonar in preparing watercourse computational geometry, is valid. A very good agreement was achieved between lateral profiles (determined inundation areas) prepared by using the CroSolver software or the ADCP sonar with lateral profiles established by geodesic surveying

Batymetrické měření pro stanovení morfologie dna vodní nádrže

    No full text
