Convinced that educational evaluation is part of the learning process, we thought of evaluating the theoretical aspects of the Television and Cinema Screenplay subject, which traditionally had only been evaluated through practical excercises. In order to do so, we offered students a theoretical "exercise menu" from which they had a choice of exercises which enabled them to obtain the 4 points included in the theoretical evaluation. The Virtual Campus turned out to be an essential tool for promoting the offer, announcing deadlines and for the delivery or presentation of the assignments. The goals of all the possible exercises and their evaluation criteria were described in detail. Team-work and critical analysis were the focus points of the methodology employed for the assigned tasks. Notwithstanding the aspects which could still be improved, the experience allowed students to enrich the syllabus of the programme, consolidate certain knowledge areas and dig deeper into others, which - without doubt - reflected in the creation of their screenplays, which were subject to practical evaluation

Audiovisual content found on digital technologies a natural expansion path, which has been accelerated thanks to the convergence. Mass Media strategies have focused on developing multiplatform content in order to exploit the potential distribution on the market. This article is about the theories and concepts related to measurement and cross-content, in turn, analyses one of the most ambitious multiplatform productions in Television de Catalunya, "Guernica: war paint." The purpose is to understand the scale of the issue from an interdisciplinary perspective and put the issues inherent in the study and analysis of cross-media productions. The text brings together the contributions of authors from different perspectives that have examined the content through concepts such as remediation, intertextuality, and transtextuality. The results indicate that the passage of pieces of content across different platforms used by television and radio operators happen more and more natural thanks to the experience accumulated over the past decade. The audience access multimedia motivated proposals complementary to television flow, attracted by the expansion of the contents and the establishment of a strong and proactive relationship with the audiovisual product. The documentary review escapes from the linear narrative and presents personalized and interactive content. However, we can speak of a hybridization between the total contents because the use of common tools and the degree of integration of technologies and production practices is still in an initial state.

Cross-Media Production in Spain's Public Broadcast RTVE : Innovation, Promotion and Audience Loyalty Strategies

Multiplatform content broadcasts are one way of securing the position of public-service broadcasting in a competitive and changing market. This research focuses on the cross-media fiction series Águila Roja (Red Eagle) and Isabel, produced by Globomedia and Diagonal TV for Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), the Spanish radio and television corporation. RTVE is a public-service broadcaster that has recently undergone a significant reconversion as a consequence of the recession and a new funding system based exclusively on financial contributions from the state, with a ban on paid advertising, which had been permitted in the past. We examine the way this organization creates productions for multiple platforms and the innovation strategies that support these processes. Using a comparative case study approach based on the actor-network theory, we found a strong 360-degree cross-media production logic in RTVE's fiction series. However, a detailed analysis reveals difficulties and contradictions regarding the efficacious use of each of the technological platforms available as well as limitations on the actions undertaken in the social media

    Get PDF

Audience participation in online news websites : a comparative analysis

In a moment of transformation of media as a result of ongoing processes of digitalization and convergence, television broadcasters are increasingly betting on tools that allow the public to assume a more active role in the production of contents. Emergent phenomena such as participatory journalism, user-generated content or the integration of social networking websites are becoming more and more relevant in the online public sphere. This paper compares the models for online news websites participation developed by RTVE (Spain) and BBC (England). The analysis focuses on the different participative resources, the access protocols, the technical mediations and the restrictions of the content produced by the audience in these two influential broadcasters. The concept of participation is articulated from the perspective of studies that understand it as new feedback opportunities provided by digital technology. Particular obstacles and requirements are detected in each media. Although television broadcasters seem to offer a large variety of tools that would allow the public to assume a more active role, it is still peripheral and complementary

"Electro-clinical Syndromes" with onset in Paediatric Age. the highlights of the clinical-EEG, genetic and therapeutic advances

    Get PDF
The genetic causes underlying epilepsy remain largely unknown, and the impact of available genetic data on the nosology of epilepsy is still limited. Thus, at present, classification of epileptic disorders should be mainly based on electroclinical features. Electro-clinical syndrome is a term used to identify a group of clinical entities showing a cluster of electro-clinical characteristics, with signs and symptoms that together define a distinctive, recognizable, clinical disorder. These often become the focus of treatment trials as well as of genetic, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging investigations. They are distinctive disorders identifiable on the basis of a typical age onset, specific EEG characteristics, seizure types, and often other features which, when taken together, permit a specific diagnosis which, in turn, often has implications for treatment, management, and prognosis. Each electro-clinical syndrome can be classified according to age at onset, cognitive and developmental antecedents and consequences, motor and sensory examinations, EEG features, provoking or triggering factors, and patterns of seizure occurrence with respect to sleep. Therefore, according to the age at onset, here we review the more frequently observed paediatric electro-clinical syndrome from their clinical-EEG, genetic and therapeutic point of views

Color tunable pressure sensors based on polymer nanostructured membranes for optofluidic applications

We demonstrate an integrated optical pressure sensing platform for multiplexed optofluidics applications. The sensing platform consists in an array of elastomeric on-side nanostructured membranes -effectively 2D photonic crystal- which present colour shifts in response to mechanical stress that alter their nanostructure characteristical dimensions, pitch or orientation. The photonic membranes are prepared by a simple and cost-effective method based on the infiltration of a 2D colloidal photonic crystal (CPC) with PDMS and their integration with a microfluidic system. We explore the changes in the white light diffraction produced by the nanostructured membranes when varying the pneumatic pressure in the microfluidics channels as a way to achieve a power-free array of pressure sensors that change their reflective colour depending on the bending produced on each sensor. The structural characterization of these membranes was performed by SEM, while the optical properties and the pressure-colour relation were evaluated via UV-Vis reflection spectrometry. Maximum sensitivities of 0.17 kPa is obtained when measuring at Littrow configuration (θ = −θ ), and close to the border of the membranes. The reflected colour change with pressure is as well monitorized by using a smartphone camera
