Attractive and repulsive interactions in the inelastic scattering of NO by Ar: A comparison between classical trajectory and close-coupling quantum mechanical results
The rotationally inelastic scattering of NO by Ar was studied on a potential energy surface at the collision energy of a high resolution experiment. The study entailed the calculationm of the state-resolved integral and differential cross sections for all the excited levels of NO in the lowest spin-orbit manifold. The quasiclassical approach was shown to satisfactorily reproduce few observations seen in both the experimental and quantum mechanical state-resolved differential cross-sections. © 2003 American Institute of PhysicsFunded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Spain under Grants No. BQU2002-04627-C02 and No. REN 2000-1557, by the European Union through the RTN Reaction Dynamics ~HPRN-CT-1999-0007!, and by the U.S. National Science Foundation ~Grant No. CHE-9971810!

Marina Alta (Alacant).A preliminary description of the archaeological sequence of Les Coves de Santa Maira (Castell de Castells) is offered. Archaeological assemblies and obtained C 14 datings indicate that the cavity registers stratified human occupations between 14th and 6th millenium BP, with archaeological record that can be related to the Upper Magdalenian, Sauveterroid Epipaleolithic Period, Mesolithic and Neolithic II. Since this moment the cavity had a function, basically, of corral for the closing
of domestic cattle.

Pigment. This paper releases the study of several Neolithic remains related to red colouring materials from Cova de l’Or, currently placed in the Archaeological Museum of Alcoi and the Prehistorical Museum of Valencia. A theoretical review of the uses of colouring materials in Prehistory and the analytical results of several samples of colouring materials led us to deduce different steps of the chaîne opératoire which ends with the preparation of pigments.

Low-temperature rotational relaxation of CO in self-collisions and in-collisions with Ne and He
The low-temperature rotational relaxation of CO in self-collisions and in collisions with the rare-gas atoms Ne and He has been investigated in supersonic expansions with a combination of resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectroscopy and time-of-flight techniques. For the REMPI detection of CO, a novel 2 + 1′ scheme has been employed through the A1 state of CO. From the measured data, average cross sections for rotational relaxation have been derived as a function of temperature in the range 5-100 K. For CO-Ne and CO-He, the relaxation cross sections grow, respectively, from values of ∼20 and 7 Å2 at 100 K to values of ∼65-70 and ∼20 A°2 in the 5-20 K temperature range. The cross section for the relaxation of CO-CO grows from a value close to 40 Å2 at 100 K to a maximum of 60 Å2 at 20 K and then decreases again to 40 Å2 at 5 K. These results are qualitatively similar to those obtained previously with the same technique for N2-N 2, N2-Ne, and N2-He collisions, although in the low-temperature range (T < 20 K) the CO relaxation cross sections are significantly larger than those for N2. Some discrepancies have been found between the present relaxation cross sections for CO-CO and CO-He and the values derived from electron-induced fluorescence experiments. © 2005 American Chemical Society.Financial support through the Ramón y Cajal program.
An Interpretable Rule Creation Method for Black-Box Models based on Surrogate Trees -- SRules
As artificial intelligence (AI) systems become increasingly integrated into
critical decision-making processes, the need for transparent and interpretable
models has become paramount. In this article we present a new ruleset creation
method based on surrogate decision trees (SRules), designed to improve the
interpretability of black-box machine learning models. SRules balances the
accuracy, coverage, and interpretability of machine learning models by
recursively creating surrogate interpretable decision tree models that
approximate the decision boundaries of a complex model. We propose a systematic
framework for generating concise and meaningful rules from these surrogate
models, allowing stakeholders to understand and trust the AI system's
decision-making process. Our approach not only provides interpretable rules,
but also quantifies the confidence and coverage of these rules. The proposed
model allows to adjust its parameters to counteract the lack of
interpretability by precision and coverage by allowing a near perfect fit and
high interpretability of some parts of the model . The results show that SRules
improves on other state-of-the-art techniques and introduces the possibility of
creating highly interpretable specific rules for specific sub-parts of the
model
