El mercado transfronterizo de servicios de salud privados entre Tijuana, México y San Diego, EE. UU.

En este trabajo se analiza el impacto del comercio transfronterizo en los servicios de salud de Tijuana en el mercado hispano – mexicano e inclusive de otros hispanos latinoamericanos de California. Los hispanos – estadounidenses son de origen mexicano cuyas ligas culturales y familiares los mantienen regresando periódicamente a los pueblos mexicanos de donde son originarios. Los hispanos de California constituyen un mercado que se disputan las compañías aseguradoras. El turismo de hispanos que consumen servicios médicos privados en Tijuana, ha venido creciendo en los últimos años. En el 2001, el 7% equivalente a 1.5 millones de visitantes de los 26.3, acudieron por servicios de salud. Para el 2003 el turismo de hispanos dejó una derrama de 208 millones de dólares, de los cuales el 8% fue en servicios médicos privados. Por lo tanto, como resultado de la investigación, se concluye que el comercio transfronterizo del sistema de salud de Tijuana eventualmente se beneficia del crecimiento económico resultante de los procesos de globalización, los beneficios de corto plazo pueden ser favorables para los médicos individuales, los farmacéuticos privados y las compañías de medicamentos. _______________________________________This paper analyzes the impact of transborder commerce in health care services of Tijuana in the Hispanic - mexican market of California. Hispanics – United States citizens are from Mexican ancestry which cultural and familiar links keep them coming back periodically to Mexican towns from where they come from originally. Hispanics of California constitute a market which is disputed by insurances companies. The tourism of Hispanics which consume private health care services in Tijuana has been growing in the last few years. In the 2001, 7% equivalent to 1.5 millions of visitants out of 26.3, came for health care services. For 2003, tourism of Hispanics left a mass of 208 million dollars, from which the 8% was on private health care services

Atentique´s environmental and economic development shrinkage in globlalization era

This paper focuses on the effects the transfer of ownership from a state‐owned Paper Mill Company to a corporate private ownership has had on environmental and economic shrinkage in Atenquique. This transfer was the result of the ongoing economic process of globalization, after the industrial boom of the paper mills during the second half of the last century. The paper also focuses on how the employees of this Paper Mill Company live and how they have been affected by globalization and how they feel about their paper mill’s new corporate owners. The methodology used was descriptive and exploratory. A sample of ten workers at the company who lived in Atenquique was chosen for an interview. After being inhabited the town of Atenquique developed in terms of population, society and economy. On the other hand the Industrial Company of Atenquique grew during the period when it was a property of the Mexican State. After the company’s privatization, the town started to decline and shrink in three above‐mentioned variables. The impact on the environmental and economic development has initiated the shrinking and declining of Atenquique and the surrounding cities and towns.Este trabajo se enfoca en el impacto de la declinación económica y ambiental que ha tenido la transferencia de la propiedad de una compañía papelera propiedad del Estado a una propiedad privada corporativa como un efecto de los procesos económicos de globalización, después de la bonanza industrial de la fábrica de papel durante la segunda mitad del último siglo. El trabajo también se enfoca en cómo los empleados de esta compañía papelera que viven en un pequeño poblado han sido afectados por la globalización y cómo se sienten acerca de los nuevos dueños corporativos de la compañía papelera. La metodología usada fue descriptiva y exploratoria. Una muestra de diez empleados de la compañía que vivieron en Atenquique fueron seleccionados para una entrevista. El pueblo de Atenquique fue fundado y creció en términos de población, desarrollo económico y social en la misma proporción que lo hizo la Compañía Industrial de Atenquique durante el período que la Compañía fue propiedad del Estado Mexicano. Después de que la Compañía fue privatizada, el pueblo empezó a declinar en población, desarrollo económico y social y lo más desastroso, es el peligro ambiental. Decrecimiento del pueblo corporativo Atenquique y su declibación económica y ambiental

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el proceso de desarrollo de Atenquique, un pueblo corporativo, y cómo estos cambios afectaron el modo de vida y el bienestar de sus habitantes. Este trabajo se enfoca al análisis de los efectos que la transferencia de propiedad de una compañía papelera paraestatal a una propiedad privada corporativa que ha tenido en la declinación ambiental y económica en Atenquique. Esta transferencia fue el resultado de los procesos de globalización económica que se están llevando a cabo, después de un boom industrial de la compañía papelera durante la segunda mitad del último siglo. El trabajo también se enfoca en cómo los empleados de esta compañía productora de papel viven y cómo han sido afectados por la globalización y cómo se sienten acerca de los nuevos dueños corporativos de la industria papelera. La metodología usada fue descriptiva y exploratoria. Se tomó una muestra de cuarenta trabajadores de la compañía que vivieron en Atenquique para una entrevista. Después de ser habitado el pueblo de Atenquique se desarrolló en términos de población, sociedad y economía. De otra forma la Compañía Industrial de Atenquique creció durante el período cuando fue una propiedad del Estado Mexicano. Después de la privatización de la compañía, el pueblo empezó de declinar y a encogerse en las tres variables arriba mencionadas. Economic and Political Transition of the Mexican State in the Threshold of 21-th Century: From the Enterpreneurial State to the State of Enterpeneurs

This paper has the purpose to analyze most recent economic and political changes in the Mexican States, which show a clear transitional tendency from an entrepreneurial state toward a state of entrepreneurs through the following stages: The PRI-presidential Mexican Entrepreneurial State with an emphasis in the welfare state model, followed by a period marked by the transition of the Mexican State focused on a neoliberal PRI-presidential reinventing of the state, as the result of the economic and political impact of globalization and its pervasive effects on an unequal income distribution, weak governance, political instability and lack of property security, besides a new relation’s interface between government and enterprises. Strategies for Creating New Business, a Sociocultural and Institutional Approach

This paper aims to summarize the main theories from socio-cultural or institutional approach to encourage the creation of new businesses. Given this context, it raised the importance of theoretical study of the factors that influence decision making in the development of new businesses and how it affects the environment in which they operate the same business. The research method used was to review the existing literature by analyzing the major theories involved in the creation of companies, emphasizing the socio-cultural approach. The analysis concludes the activity of entrepreneurship to encouraging the creation of companies, being an important factor in economic development

Postcolonialismo como teoría de la administración internacional y su impacto en los negocios internacionales.

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar normativamente los discursos del colonialismo y el postcolonialismo como campos de investigación de la administración internacional. Los acercamientos teóricos postcoloniales critican las representaciones euro céntrico y occidental del mundo no-occidental y llaman la atención al conocimiento que claman tener del no occidente. Los acercamientos postcoloniales a la administración internacional también tratan de los supuestos y limitaciones del discurso administrativo occidental hecho desde un contexto no occidental. Los diferentes enfoques analíticos de los estudios postcoloniales demuestran que la producción y transferencia del conocimiento de la administración internacional tiene consecuencias materiales para los negocios no occidentales. Explícitamente, la agenda de la investigación postcolonial guiada por el orientalismo requiere de un involucramiento político y ético continuado con las consecuencias epistemológicas y materiales de la investigación en administración internacional.Colonialismo, postcolonialismo.

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTION: INDUCTION PROGRAM

The following dissertation aims to demonstrate if the lack of an induction process for employees in a marine industry company hinders their productivity. Also, an induction program is presented as an intervention proposal of organization development, on the premise that this program is a first step in the solving of the existing low productivity problem. By means of observation and casual interviews with the employees as research methods, it was found that the studied company personnel never went through a formal induction process and thereby, have many knowledge gaps that hinder their performance and that can be resolved by an induction program for employees.
