    En este artículo exponemos los resultados de la autopsia de un varón joven que falleció en el hospital por un cuadro de delirium agitado. Es un síndrome caracterizado generalmente por agitación psicomotriz, agresividad y puede producir muerte súbita, en ocasiones durante la aplicación de métodos de contención mecánica por los Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado o personal sanitario. Está típicamente asociado al consumo de drogas de abuso, como la cocaína. En estos casos, estará incluida en el grupo de muertes en custodia, que es aquella que se produce cuando la víctima se encuentra privada de libertad. Tiene una indudable repercusión médico legal, puesto que se considera prototipo de muerte sospechosa de criminalidad.In this article we present the autopsy of a young man who died in hospital by excited delirium. It is a syndrome characterized by agitation, aggression, acute distress and sudden death. It is typically associated with the use of abuse drugs, as cocaine. It is generally accompanied by a restriction´s methods carried out by securiy forces or hospital staff. It entails that this death can be classified whitin the group of deaths in custody. The death in custody is that death that takes place whe the victim is deprived of freedom. It has a legal repercussion undoubted, since it is considered to be a prototype of death suspected of criminal origin

    Viral Dissemination of Content in Advertising: Emotional Factors to Reach Consumers

    Social media has become a relevant content dissemination channel in recent years. Each user has the capacity to potentially reach others, and in this way, social media challenges the traditional distribution of content through mass media. The advertising industry has had to adapt to this new ecosystem and develop audiovisual pieces specifically tailored to this environment as part of their communication strategies. These pieces aim at achieving not only views but to engage viewers in sharing content with their contacts. Recent research indicates that there are certain aspects of human behaviour related to emotions and motivations that have an impact on the decision to share information, news and content with others. However, there are few studies analysing how the features of the content shared influence that decision. This article presents the content analysis results of the 100 most widely shared advertising viral videos around the world from 2011 to 2015 according to Adweek. The analysis was conducted from an emotional perspective in order to establish the common features of the most shared videos and to identify the frequency in which emotional narrative resources are used

    Linking cytoarchitecture to metabolism: sarcolemma-associated plectin affects glucose uptake by destabilizing microtubule networks in mdx myofibers

    BACKGROUND: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of the most frequent forms of muscular disorders. It is caused by the absence of dystrophin, a core component of the sarcolemma-associated junctional complex that links the cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix. We showed previously that plectin 1f (P1f), one of the major muscle-expressed isoforms of the cytoskeletal linker protein plectin, accumulates at the sarcolemma of DMD patients as well as of mdx mice, a widely studied animal model for DMD.Based on plectin's dual role as structural protein and scaffolding platform for signaling molecules, we speculated that the dystrophic phenotype observed after loss of dystrophin was caused, at least to some extent, by excess plectin. Thus, we hypothesized that elimination of plectin expression in mdx skeletal muscle, while probably resulting in an overall more severe phenotype, may lead to a partial phenotype rescue. In particular, we wanted to assess whether excess sarcolemmal plectin contributes to the dysregulation of sugar metabolism in mdx myofibers. METHODS: We generated plectin/dystrophin double deficient (dKO) mice by breeding mdx with conditional striated muscle-restricted plectin knockout (cKO) mice. The phenotype of these mice was comparatively analyzed with that of mdx, cKO, and wild-type mice, focusing on structural integrity and dysregulation of glucose metabolism. RESULTS: We show that the accumulation of plectin at the sarcolemma of mdx muscle fibers hardly compensated for their loss of structural integrity. Instead, it led to an additional metabolic deficit by impairing glucose uptake. While dKO mice suffered from an overall more severe form of muscular dystrophy compared to mdx or plectin-deficient mice, sarcolemmal integrity as well as glucose uptake of their myofibers were restored to normal levels upon ablation of plectin. Furthermore, microtubule (MT) networks in intact dKO myofibers, including subsarcolemmal areas, were found to be more robust than those in mdx mice. Finally, myotubes differentiated from P1f-overexpressing myoblasts showed an impairment of glucose transporter 4 translocation and a destabilization of MT networks. CONCLUSIONS: Based on these results we propose that sarcolemma-associated plectin acts as an antagonist of MT network formation in myofibers, thereby hindering vesicle-mediated (MT-dependent) transport of glucose transporter 4. This novel role of plectin throws a bridge between extra-sarcomeric cytoarchitecture and metabolism of muscle fibers.     Diffusional restrictions in glyoxyl-agarose immobilized penicillin G acylase of different particle size and protein loading

    Particle size and enzyme protein loading are design parameters of enzyme immobilization affecting biocatalyst performance that can be varied within broad margins. Their effect on mass transfer limitations at different bulk penicillin G concentrations has been studied with glyoxyl agarose immobilized penicillin G acylase biocatalysts of average particle size of 5\ub710-5m and 10\ub710-4m at protein loadings from 15 to 130 mg/ggel. Internal diffusional restrictions were evaluated for such biocatalysts: Thiele modulus varied from 1.17 for the small particles at the lower protein load to 5.84 for the large particles at the higher protein load. Effectiveness factors at different bulk substrate concentrations were determined for all biocatalysts, values ranging from 0.78 for small particle size at 25 mM penicillin G to 0.15 for large particle size at 2 mM penicillin G. Enzyme protein loading had a strong impact on the effectiveness factors of immobilized penicillin G acylase, being it more pronounced in the case of large particle size biocatalysts. At conditions in which 6-aminopenicillanic acid is industrially produced, all biocatalysts tested were mass-transfer limited, being this information valuable for reactor design and performance evaluation

    Existen multitud de métodos empleados por los narcotraficantes para el traslado internacional de la droga, siendo el más peligroso para el individuo el transporte en el interior de su organismo, el denominado “body packer”. En ocasiones, alguno de los paquetes puede romperse y provocar la muerte por la salida masiva del tóxico. El hallazgo del envoltorio roto y el resto de paquetes íntegros, con la droga en su interior, al realizar la autopsia, son muy importantes para el diagnóstico. En el caso que nos ocupa, la previa manipulación del cadáver para extracción y recuperación de la droga, ha dificultado la determinación de la causa de la muerte.There are many methods used by drug traffickers for transfer international of drog, being the most dangerous to physical integrity the individual transport inside your body, known “body-packers”.     The Mediterranean diet and incidence of hypertension: the Seguimiento Universidad de Navarra (SUN) Study

    The Mediterranean diet is receiving increasing attention in cardiovascular epidemiology. The association of adherence to the Mediterranean diet with the incidence of hypertension was evaluated among 9,408 men and women enrolled in a dynamic Spanish prospective cohort study during 1999–2005. Dietary intake was assessed at baseline with a validated semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire, and a 9-point Mediterranean diet score was constructed. During a median follow-up period of 4.2 years (range, 1.9–7.9), 501 incident cases of hypertension were identified. After adjustment for major hypertension risk factors and nutritional covariates, adherence to the Mediterranean diet was not associated with hypertension (the hazard ratio was 1.10 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.81, 1.41) for moderate adherence and 1.12 (95% CI: 0.79, 1.60) for high adherence). However, it was associated with reduced changes in mean levels of systolic blood pressure (moderate adherence, 2.4 mm Hg (95% CI: 4.0, 0.8); high adherence, 3.1 mm Hg (95% CI: 5.4, 0.8)) and diastolic blood pressure (moderate adherence, 1.3 mm Hg (95% CI: 2.5, 0.1); high adherence, 1.9 mm Hg (95% CI: 3.6, 0.1)) after 6 years of follow-up. These results suggest that adhering to a Mediterranean-type diet could contribute to the prevention of age-related changes in blood pressure

    Reduced Antioxidant Response of the Fan Mussel Pinna nobilis Related to the Presence of Haplosporidium pinnae

    The endemic fan mussel (Pinna nobilis) in the Mediterranean Sea is at high risk of disappearance due to massive mortality events. The aim of the study was to evaluate the antioxidant response of P. nobilis collected in the Balearic Islands (Western Mediterranean) before and after the mass mortality event. Individuals collected before (between 2011 and 2012) and after (between 2016 and 2017) the event were analyzed by histological, molecular, and biochemical methods to compare pathogenic loads and biochemical responses. All the individuals collected during 2016–2017 presented symptoms of the disease and were positive for Haplosporidium pinnae, while acid-fast bacteria or/and Gram-negative bacteria were detected in some individuals of both sampling periods. The activities of the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase in the gills were significantly lower in P. nobilis a ected with the parasite compared to those in the asymptomatic ones, while levels of malondialdehyde, as an indicator of lipid peroxidation, were higher in infected individuals. When analyzing the di erential e ects of H. pinnae and Mycobacterium sp. on P. nobilis, it was observed that significant e ects on biomarkers were only observed in the presence of H. pinnae. Co-infection of P. nobilis by H. pinnae with other pathogens such as Mycobacterium sp. constitutes a serious problem due to its high mortality rate in the Balearic Island waters. This concerning situation for P. nobilis is favored by a reduction in antioxidant defenses related to H. pinnae infection that induces oxidative stress and cell damage.En prens

    For processes with gauge bosons in the final state we show how to continuously connect with a single Born-improved amplitude the resonant region, where resummation effects are important, with the asymptotic region far away from the resonance, where the amplitude must reduce to its tree-level form. While doing so all known field-theoretical constraints are respected, most notably gauge-invariance, unitarity and the equivalence theorem. The calculations presented are based on the process ffˉZZf\bar{f}\to ZZ, mediated by a possibly resonant Higgs boson; this process captures all the essential features, and can serve as a prototype for a variety of similar calculations.
