Qualidade Físico-química E Sensorial De Genótipos De Banana
Despite the diversity of banana varieties in Brazil, only a few cultivars have the proper agronomic traits and fruit quality for commercial exploitation. This study aimed at evaluating the physicochemical traits and sensorial acceptance of banana genotypes, in order to identify those with potential for commercial growing. Six improved banana genotypes were assessed (BRS Maravilha, PC 0101, FHIA 18, TM 2803, YB 4203 and BRS Caipira), as well as three commercial cultivars (Grand Naine, Pacovan and Prata Anã). Analyses of peel and pulp color, peel thickness, pulp yield, moisture, pH, soluble solids, titratable acidity, total carotenoids and sensorial acceptance were performed. The BRS Maravilha, FHIA 18, YB 4203 and BRS Caipira genotypes presented physicochemical traits similar to the Grand Naine, Pacovan and Prata Anã commercial cultivars. The BRS Maravilha and TM 2803 genotypes had sensorial acceptance similar to the Prata Anã and Grand Naine cultivars, and are therefore promising for commercial growing, with the advantage of being resistant to the black Sigatoka and Panama disease. © 2016, Universidade Federal De Goias (UFG). Replicate Periodic Windows in the Parameter Space of Driven Oscillators
In the bi-dimensional parameter space of driven oscillators, shrimp-shaped
periodic windows are immersed in chaotic regions. For two of these oscillators,
namely, Duffing and Josephson junction, we show that a weak harmonic
perturbation replicates these periodic windows giving rise to parameter regions
correspondent to periodic orbits. The new windows are composed of parameters
whose periodic orbits have periodicity and pattern similar to stable and
unstable periodic orbits already existent for the unperturbed oscillator. These
features indicate that the reported replicate periodic windows are associated
with chaos control of the considered oscillators
Search for fingerprints of disoriented chiral condensates in cosmic ray showers
Although the generation of disoriented chiral condensates (DCCs), where the
order parameter for chiral symmetry breaking is misaligned with respect to the
vacuum direction in isospin state, is quite natural in the theory of strong
interactions, they have so far eluded experiments in accelerators and cosmic
rays. If DCCs are formed in high-energy nuclear collisions, the relevant
outcome are very large event-by-event fluctuations in the neutral-to-charged
pion fraction. In this note we search for fingerprints of DCC formation in
observables of ultra-high energy cosmic ray showers. We present simulation
results for the depth of the maximum () and number of muons on the
ground, evaluating their sensitivity to the neutral-to-charged pion fraction
asymmetry produced in the primary interaction.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
Self-Calibration of Cluster Dark Energy Studies: Counts in Cells
Cluster number counts can constrain the properties of dark energy if and only
if the evolution in the relationship between observable quantities and the
cluster mass can be calibrated. Next generation surveys with ~10000 clusters
will have sufficient statistics to enable some degree of self-calibration. The
excess variance of counts due to the clustering of clusters provides such an
opportunity and can be measured from the survey without additional
observational cost. It can minimize the degradation in dark energy constraints
due to an unknown power law evolution in the mass-observable relation improving
constraints on the dark energy equation of state by a factor of 2 or more to
sigma(w)=0.06 for a deep 4000 deg2 survey.Comment: 4 pages 2 figures submitted to PR
Phenotypic, additive genetic and environment correlations of maize landraces populations in family farm systems
Knowledge of the association between characters is very important in the genetic breeding programs, but there is limited information about correlations between traits in maize landraces in the current literature. The objectives of this study were to estimate phenotypic, additive genetic and environment correlations among traits in maize landraces, which were cultivated in family farm systems, in order to guide the participatory breeding on maize landraces. Between 294 and 400 half-sib progenies from the six populations were evaluated, subdivided in triple 7X7 and 10X10 lattice design, respectively, with single row plots of 4 m long and spaced 1.00 × 0.20 m. Estimates of correlation coefficients are reported for nine traits: grain yield (GY), relation grain weight per ear weight (GE), ears per plant (EP), days to flower (DF), plant height (PH), ear height (EH), percentage of root loding (%L), percentage of stalk loding (%BS) and percentage of damaged ears (%DE). A high number of additive genetic correlation (rA) was obtained between grain yield and the other traits, in maize landraces populations, cycles and locations. For grain yield, the highest averages of the rA estimate were with EP (0.67), GE (0.47) and %DE (-0.63).
