UMBRALES DEL AGUA FRENTE A LA ESCASEZ CON BASE A LA RESILIENCIA URBANA EN LERMA Y SAN MATEO ATENCO, ESTADO DE MÉXICO

    Get PDF

[EN] This paper presents an original study with the aim of improving users' performance in completing large questionnaires through adaptability in web forms. Such adaptability is based on the application of machine-learning procedures and an A/B testing approach. To detect the user preferences, behavior, and the optimal version of the forms for all kinds of users, researchers built predictive models using machine-learning algorithms (trained with data from more than 3000 users who participated previously in the questionnaires), extracting the most relevant factors that describe the models, and clustering the users based on their similar characteristics and these factors. Based on these groups and their performance in the system, the researchers generated heuristic rules between the different versions of the web forms to guide users to the most adequate version (modifying the user interface and user experience) for them. To validate the approach and con rm the improvements, the authors tested these redirection rules on a group of more than 1000 users. The results with this cohort of users were better than those achieved without redirection rules at the initial stage. Besides these promising results, the paper proposes

[EN] Background/Objectives: Postpartum depression is usually defined as a major depressive episode that occurs shortly after childbirth. This condition is most commonly found in females; however, paternal postpartum depression has begun to attract more research attention. This study aims to identify different instruments for measuring this mental health problem and to detect risk factors as well as the main sources of resilience in paternal postpartum depression. Methods: A literature review was conducted following the PRISMA method. Results: After analyzing 10 articles, it was determined that the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale is the most widely used instrument for the diagnosis of postpartum depression in the female population, and after several studies, it has already been validated for the male sex. After several studies were analyzed to highlight the main risk factors for paternal postpartum depression, it was established that the most influential factor is male gender role stress. These findings highlight the traditional role of fathers today. Most health professionals see the mother as the priority. Conclusions: Paternal depression is a major problem for mothers and fathers today, as well as for the newborn. As time goes on, there is a growing need to incorporate fathers into current and future mental health programs to be able to provide the necessary support.S

Complete and versatile remote controller for PV systems

    Get PDF
The promotion of the distributed generation and the photovoltaic (PV) energy great potential put this technology in the spotlight of investors. Thus, the optimization of its efficiency is made a priority. In this paper, a complete and versatile remote controller (C&VRC) for PV systems is presented, scalable to any kind and size of installations (with or without partial shading, with or without connection to the grid, housing, small plants or even large-scale solar plants) and valid for any weather conditions. The C&VRC involves the controller itself, which is constituted by a set of sensors and actuators connected to the converters Direct Current (DC)/DC and DC/Alternating Current (AC), if necessary, and a control unit communicated with them through the third-generation mobile telecommunications technology (3G) network. The control strategies can be changed according to the different weather conditions and installations characteristics, which guaranties the optimum performance of the system. The use of the 3G network as communication platform makes the C&VRC useful in remote and low accessibility places, because it is the most extended worldwide. The C&VRC is also based on free software, open hardware and low-cost electronic devices. Experimental results are presented in this paper to show the C&VRC optimum usability. This paper is framed in the project “Integral control system to optimize the microgrids energy demand” funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, call for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2020-2023. Caveolin-1 Modulates Mechanotransduction Responses to Substrate Stiffness through Actin-Dependent Control of YAP

The transcriptional regulator YAP orchestrates many cellular functions, including tissue homeostasis, organ growth control, and tumorigenesis. Mechanical stimuli are a key input to YAP activity, but the mechanisms controlling this regulation remain largely uncharacterized. We show that CAV1 positively modulates the YAP mechanoresponse to substrate stiffness through actin-cytoskeleton-dependent and Hippo-kinase-independent mechanisms. RHO activity is necessary, but not sufficient, for CAV1-dependent mechanoregulation of YAP activity. Systematic quantitative interactomic studies and image-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) screens provide evidence that this actin-dependent regulation is determined by YAP interaction with the 14-3-3 protein YWHAH. Constitutive YAP activation rescued phenotypes associated with CAV1 loss, including defective extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. CAV1-mediated control of YAP activity was validated in vivo in a model of pancreatitis-driven acinar-to-ductal metaplasia. We propose that this CAV1-YAP mechanotransduction system controls a significant share of cell programs linked to these two pivotal regulators, with potentially broad physiological and pathological implications. Moreno-Vicente et al. report that CAV1, a key component of PM mechanosensing caveolae, mediates adaptation to ECM rigidity by modulating YAP activity through the control of actin dynamics and phosphorylation-dependent interaction of YAP with the 14-3-3-domain protein YWHAH. Cav1-dependent YAP regulation drives two pathophysiological processes: ECM remodeling and pancreatic ADM. © 2018 The Author

    Get PDF
Introduction: at the beginning and establishment of breastfeeding, adequate care routines are essential, such as its early initiation and skin-to-skin contact, which implies the need to facilitate the joint accommodation of the mother with the newborn in the immediate postpartum period, regardless of the type of delivery. Objective: to analyze the effects of mother and newborn rooming-in after a cesarean section on breastfeeding rates at hospital discharge and its maintenance up to two years later. Method: A prospective cohort study was conducted with a random sample of 146 women and their newborns, who were followed up for two years. The characteristic of cohort A was rooming-in of mother and newborn after cesarean section, whereas the characteristic of cohort B was separation of mother and newborn after cesarean section. Results: cohort A was made up of 67 mothers, 58 of whom were able to do skin-to-skin care after the cesarean section and 46 started breastfeeding during that period. Cohort B was made up of 79 mothers and none could make skin-to-skin contact or initiate breastfeeding. Conclusions: skin-to-skin contact after caesarean section, as well as avoiding the administration of supplements during this period, has a beneficial effect on the initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding; and this is possible thanks to joint accommodation
