Optimization of connections for spatial modular structures

These constructions, whose dimensions are approximately 50 meters length, 40 meters height and variable depth of 4 to 5 meters, are spatial modular structures composed of steel tubular elements connected by clamps and covered by wood boards. The consideration or not of the eccentricities introduced by the connection element as well as the determination of the stiffness to consider is one of the major problems when developing the analysis model. The construction company aims to achieve their optimization in order to reduce the final cost. This paper investigates about how different ways of modeling these connections affects the optimization of the final model. The extent to which the modification of the position of the eccentricities influences the optimization is also discussed, as this aspect is difficult to control on site

Analysis of the influence of the block in the dynamic properties of domestic buildings with masonry structure

In the case of traditional buildings with masonry structure, this simplification can be very unrealistic, particularly in the case of buildings with shared party walls. The influence of the adjacent buildings, in the modal results of domestic masonry buildings is discussed in this paper. The ultimate goal of the presented work is to quantify the influence of the block in modal results, compared with traditional calculation of isolated buildings. And we are very interested in seeing how the block affects the modal results of damaged buildings, for example, with a significant crack between bearing walls and shear walls due to an important settlement of the foundation. For this work, we have focused on the traditional Sevillan building with a masonry structure. We found that, in the case of buildings with flexible floor disconnected from shear walls and with cracks between bearing walls and shared walls, the dynamic response perpendicular to facade rise hugely. For this particular case, the block has little effect on the response in that direction

Dynamical analysis on cubic polynomials of Damped Traub s method for approximating multiple roots

[EN] In this paper, the performance of a parametric family including Newton¿s and Traub¿s schemes on multiple roots is analyzed. The local order of convergence on nonlinear equations with multiple roots is studied as well as the dynamical behavior in terms of the damping parameter on cubic polynomials with multiple roots. The fixed and critical points, and the associated parameter plane are some of the characteristic dynamical features of the family which are obtained in this work. Knowledge Networks around the Strategic Alliances of Micro Coffee Producers

The organizational process that goes from the knowledge networks to the strategic alliances supposes a management, production and transfer of information that the literature differentiates according to the degree of empathy, commitment, entrepreneurship, innovation and satisfaction of leaders and followers. In this sense, the objective of this study was to study the phenomenon in coffee growers in central Mexico. From a structural model ⌠X 2 = 321.23 (34gl) p = 0.009; GFI = 0.990; CFI = 0.975; RMSEA = 0.008⌡, after establishing the reliability and validity of an instrument, it was found that innovation determines satisfaction (0.51), although the type of study, sample selection and analysis limit the findings to the specific context of the investigation. Lines concerning the extension of work to different contexts and samples are noticed

The World Heritage Convention and cultural landscapes of the enlightened Spanish Royal Arsenals: The case of the Royal Arsenal of Cartagena (Spain)

In 1992 the World Heritage Convention became the first international legal instrument to recognise and protect cultural landscapes. The Committee acknowledged that cultural landscapes represent the "combined works of nature and of man". In 1994, the World Heritage Committee launched the Global Strategy for a representative, balanced and credible World Heritage List. To be included on the World Heritage List, sites must be of outstanding universal value and meet at least one out of ten selection criteria. The principal core of this investigation is going to know and to analyze the urban impact, territorial effects and heritage dimension that construction of the enlightened Spanish Royal Arsenals has meant for their cities. It will be known trough the case study, the Royal Arsenal of Cartagena. At last, this research to determine which of the selection criteria of Unesco can be present in these defensive cultural landscapes

Hacia una mejor comprensión de la relación entre satisfacción, lealtad e implicación del cliente

Aunque las relaciones entre lelatad, implicación y satisfacción han sido estudiadas ampliamente, existen diversos aspectos, en los que nos centraremos aquí, sobre los que todavía no se ha profundizado. Así, distinguimos entre las dimensiones duradera y situacional de la implicación, y proponemos relaciones directas entre cada una de ellas y la satisfacción. También diferenciamos entre lealtad activa y pasiva (Ganesh, Arnold y Reynolds, 2000), y proponemos la satisfacción y los dos constructos de la implicación como antecedentes de ambas. Aunque algunos autores han sugerido la existencia de un impacto positivo de la implicación sobre la lealtad, la distinción realizada entre la implicación duradera y situacional hace que esta relación positiva no sea tan obvia. Las relaciones propuestas son recogidas en un diagrama path y contrastadas mediante la técnica PLS dentro de la modelización de ecuaciones estructurales. Nuestros resultados conducen a interesantes implicaciones para la gestión

Aspectos fundamentales en la transmisión de la propiedad y el control en la empresa familiar: la efectividad de la sucesión

“El problema de las empresas familiares no está tanto en su nacimiento como en su desarrollo y continuidad” (Gallo, 1998, p. 13). Entre las principales causas de este fenómeno sobresalen las relacionadas con la sucesión. Y es que, cómo mantener el negocio en la familia y la familia en el negocio no es una cuestión fácil de resolver. A pesar de la importancia que reviste para la empresa familiar esta transmisión efectiva de la propiedad y el control a lo largo de las distintas generaciones, los trabajos que consideran como unidad de investigación la sucesión en la empresa familiar son aún escasos, constituyendo éste un tema de reciente actualidad. Por ambas razones hemos consideramos necesario y pertinente emprender una línea de investigación en la que se profundice en todo lo concerniente a la sucesión en la empresa familiar, constituyendo el presente trabajo, uno de los primeros resultados obtenidos."The problem of the family enterprises is not in its birth, is in its development and continuity" (Gallo, 1998, p. 13).
