During the last few years, a number of archaeological surveys have been carried out in Alegria-Dulantzi, an ancient town in the province of Álava, Spain. During these surveys, a large place of worship following the lines of a basilica emerged, and within the building a number of burials with the remains of clothing with clear North Pyrenean characteristics. In this paper, additional information about this building is set out, emphasizing its liturgical layout, its associated burials, its architecture, and its chronology and historical evolution

Governments are investing on the IT adoption and promoting the socalled e-economies as a way to improve competitive advantages. One of the main government’s actions is to provide internet access to the most part of the population, people and organisations. Internet provides the required support for connecting organizations, people and geographically distributed developments teams. Software developments are tightly related to the availability of tools and platforms needed for products developments. Internet is becoming the most widely used platform. Software forges such as SourceForge provide an integrated tools environment gathering a set of tools that are suited for each development with a low cost. In this paper we propose an innovating approach based on Web2.0, services and a method engineering approach for software developments. This approach represents one of the possible usages of the internet of the future

Mycoplasma synoviae is one of the most important pathogens in poultry industry and often causes diseases of a chronic and persistent nature. Little is known about the mechanisms of persistence in the host and the strains differ significantly in invasiveness and pathogenicity. A recent study demonstrated the capacity of M. synoviae to invade chicken erythrocytes (CER). The aim of this study was to determine whether a field M. synoviae strain isolated from an Argentinean laying hen farm has the same cell invasiveness capacity. The test used for this purpose was the gentamicin invasion assay. Samples of chicken erythrocytes in vitro infected with the M. synoviae field strain and control infective strains (M. synoviae WVU 1853 and M. gallisepticum, 14102) were taken 2, 4 and 24 hours after infection, inoculated in Frey broth with or without gentamicin, plated in Frey agar and incubated at 37 ºC for 4-6 days. M. gallisepticum 14102 treated with gentamicin grew well in the agar plates after 2 hours of infection. M. synoviae WVU 1853 and M. synoviae field strain treated with gentamicin grew in the agar plates after 24 hours of inoculation. It is very likely that the strains recovered from the infected chicken cells had invaded the erythrocytes and escaped the mycoplasmacidal effect of gentamicin. This study provides the first evidence of nonphagocytic cell invasion capability of a M. synoviae strain isolated in Argentina.

    Raros uruguayos, nuevas miradas

Reorganization of perineuronal nets in the medial Preoptic Area during the reproductive cycle in female rats

Perineuronal nets (PNNs) are aggregations of extracellular matrix associated with specific neuronal populations in the central nervous system, suggested to play key roles in neural development, synaptogenesis and experience-dependent synaptic plasticity. Pregnancy and lactation are characterized by a dramatic increase in neuroplasticity. However, dynamic changes in the extracellular matrix associated with maternal circuits have been mostly overlooked. We analyzed the structure of PNNs in an essential nucleus of the maternal circuit, the medial preoptic area (mPOA), during the reproductive cycle of rats, using the Wisteria floribunda (WFA) label. PNNs associated to neurons in the mPOA start to assemble halfway through gestation and become highly organized prior to parturition, fading through the postpartum period. This high expression of PNNs during pregnancy appears to be mediated by the influence of estrogen, progesterone and prolactin, since a hormonal simulated-gestation treatment induced the expression of PNNs in ovariectomized females. We found that PNNs associated neurons in the mPOA express estrogen receptor α and progesterone receptors, supporting a putative role of reproductive hormones in the signaling mechanisms that trigger the assembly of PNNs in the mPOA. This is the first report of PNNs presence and remodeling in mPOA during adulthood induced by physiological variables

Long Term Energy Transition Scenario Analysis for the City of Donostia

El artículo pertenece a Proceedings of the 5th Annual Sustainable Places International Conference, Middlesbrough, UK, 28–30 June 2017 (SP2017)The direction adopted for the energy transitions towards a low carbon future will have long lasting implications in other aspects beyond the Climate Change. However, cities are becoming increasingly complex and a detailed knowledge is required for a long-term energy planning, which is frequently not available in city decision making processes. This paper describes a multi-criteria ex-ante impact assessment methodology developed for the building sector energy planning, which combines energy modelling and life cycle analysis with the regional macroeconomic analysis through the supply chain evaluation. The methodology is applied to the city of Donostia, demonstrating the importance of simultaneously considering various potentially conflicting criteria for the prioritization of scenarios

Exploring multiple-discreteness in freight transport : a multiple discrete extreme value model application for grain consolidators in Argentina

There are some examples where freight choices may be of a multiple discrete nature, especially the ones at more tactical levels of planning. Nevertheless, this has not been investigated in the literature, although several discrete-continuous models for mode/vehicle type and shipment size choice have been developed in freight transport. In this work, we propose that the decision of port and mode of the grain consolidators in Argentina is of a discrete-continuous nature, where they can choose more than one alternative and how much of their production to send by each mode. The Multiple Discrete Extreme Value Model (MDCEV) framework was applied to a stated preference data set with a response variable that allowed this multiple-discreteness. To our knowledge, this is the only application of the MDCEV in regional freight context. Free alongside ship price, freight transport cost, lead-time and travel time were included in the utility function and observed and random heterogeneity was captured by the interaction with the consolidator’s characteristics and random coefficients. In addition, different discrete choice models were used to compare the forecasting performance, willingness to pay measures and structure of the utility function against
