Scientific Center of Drug Research, Nicolae Testemitsanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Chisinau, the Republic of MoldovaBackground: Animal research has enormous utility as understanding the complex interactions of molecular mechanisms, biochemical and physiological study ultimately depends on intact organisms in vivo. The use of animals for biomedical research was the subject of much debate and continues to be today. The main question of this debate is whether or not correct, morally speaking, to conduct animal research. Scientists who use animals for these purposes mean that experiments should be done as humanely as possible. They agree that animals should not be used as long as there are testing methods producing similar results. Internationally these principles are reflected in the rules developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for Good Laboratory Practice. However, the implementation of this legislation in our country aims at purchasing proper equipment of scientific laboratories for preclinical research, monitoring biomedical ethics and ensures quality results. The experimental ethics is a prerequisite for ensuring good scientific practice. Conclusion: The existence of a regulatory body to provide advice and evaluation of experimental design becomes mandatory enforcement of the concept of ethics in laboratory animal experiments

EVOLUTION OF MILK CATALASE ACTIVITY IN PRESENCE OF INHIBITOR AND ACTIVATOR SUBSTANCES

    Get PDF
Milk catalase activity were carried out to determine the effect of different activators and inhibitors on enzyme activity. The experiments where conducted to estimate the catalase activity from fresh milk, fresh milk in addition with trichloroacetic acid, fresh milk in addition with tannin, fresh milk during the pasteurization process, fresh milk in addition with iron, fresh milk in addition with vitamins. Iron, vitamins, high temperature influence positive milk catalase activity; tannin, trichloroacetic acid and pasteurization temperature influence negative milk catalase activit

Sugar sorghum is a technical plant with high energy value due to the high productivity obtained per hectare. By pressing of sugar sorghum strains it can be obtained a juice that can be further used in various forms: alcohol, ethanol, etc

The importance of the principles of good laboratory practice in quality assurance of preclinical studies

Scientific Center of Drug Research, Nicolae Testemitsanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Chisinau, the Republic of MoldovaBackground: The institution, which studies the safety of chemicals, biotechnological substances and nanotechnology products, should conduct researches in accordance with the principles and rules of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice). This standard establishes principles of good laboratory practice for application in non-clinical studies of substances contained in the medicines, pesticides, cosmetic products, veterinary drugs, food and feed additives, and industrial chemicals. GLP rules is a concept of research management, including the organization, preparation and conduct of the study, activity monitoring, obtaining and documenting data, concluding the report. Compliance with GLP principles in the conduct of studies is a mandatory requirement imposed by national regulatory agencies to determine the safety of chemical compounds and other substances related to the protection of human health and the environment. The issue of quality assurance of drug substances is particularly relevant during the authorization process of drugs. Application of standards is an important issue not only in the production of drug substances, but also in preclinical research and clinical studies. Application of GLP rules in research institution is guaranteed by a center quality assurance program, as well as by the institution’s management control and independent audit. Conclusions: GLP implementation in biomedical research centers of the university in the country will lead to proper management of preclinical laboratories and therefore will increase the credibility of scientific results at international level

CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE VALORIZATION OF THE JUICE OBTAINED FROM SUGAR SORGHUM STALK FROM ALCOHOL

With a high production per hectare, sugar sorghum is a high value technical plant for farmers because from an average production of 70-80 t/ha, a high quantity of juice can be obtained, which can be used as such in the food industry (natural sweetener) or processed for the purpose of obtaining alcohol. The alcohol has a higher value/liter, can be stored more easily and its uses are multiple: in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical industry, etc

    Virus-Templated Near-Amorphous Iron Oxide Nanotubes

© 2016 American Chemical Society. We present a simple synthesis of iron oxide nanotubes, grown under very mild conditions from a solution containing Fe(II) and Fe(III), on rod-shaped tobacco mosaic virus templates. Their well-defined shape and surface chemistry suggest that these robust bionanoparticles are a versatile platform for synthesis of small, thin mineral tubes, which was achieved efficiently. Various characterization tools were used to explore the iron oxide in detail: Electron microscopy (SEM, TEM), magnetometry (SQUID-VSM), diffraction (XRD, TEM-SAED), electron spectroscopies (EELS, EDX, XPS), and X-ray absorption (XANES with EXAFS analysis). They allowed determination of the structure, crystallinity, magnetic properties, and composition of the tubes. The protein surface of the viral templates was crucial to nucleate iron oxide, exhibiting analogies to biomineralization in natural compartments such as ferritin cages
