Relationship between Learning and Psychomotor Skills in Early Childhood Education

    Get PDF
Psychomotor skills are, among others, an aspect particularly valuable for structuring the teaching–learning process of infant schoolchildren. For this reason, a study was carried out with the aim of describing and comparing the socio-demographic, psychomotor, and learning levels of schoolchildren in the second stage of infant education. Ninety-five pupils from the second cycle of infant education in the capital of Granada took part in this study. A sociodemographic questionnaire, the movement assessment battery for children-2 (MABC-2), and the preschool learning behaviour scale (PLBS) were used to collect data. The main results show that manual dexterity appears as the main motor factor and similar figures in the three dimensions of learning behaviours. On the other hand, balance and learning behaviours were higher in 6-year-old schoolchildren. In terms of gender, girls obtained higher values for the level of the learning behaviour variables. A positive correlation was found between the dimensions of learning and motor activity

Background: Although regular physical activity and exercise programs might improve bone health caused by oncological treatment and the disease itself, it remains unknown the pooled effect of exercise interventions following frequency, intensity, time and type prescriptions. Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesise evidence regarding the effectiveness of exercise interventions on bone health in children and adolescents with cancer during and after oncological treatment. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in the MEDLINE (via PubMed), Web of Science and Scopus databases from November 2021 to January 2022. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs reporting pre-post changes of the effectiveness of exercise interventions on DXA-measured bone parameters in young population (1–19 years) during or after oncological treatment were included. Pooled (ESs) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were followed. Results: A total of eight trials with 341 participants were included. The metaanalyses did not reveal a statistically significant increase in whole body areal bone mineral density (ES = 0.10; 95%CI: −0.14, 0.34), lumbar spine (ES = 0.03; 95%CI: −0.21, 0.26) or femoral neck (ES = 0.10; 95%CI: −0.37, 0.56). Similarly, during the oncological treatment phase the ES was 0.04 (95%CI: −0.17, 0.25) and after the ES was 0.07 (95%CI: −0.20, 0.33). Conclusion: To date, exercise interventions have been inappropriate and therefore, ineffective to illustrate any beneficial effect on bone health in children and adolescents with cancer during and after oncological treatment.Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (ref: PID2020-117302RA-I00La Caixa Foundation (ref: LCF/BQ/PR19/11700007)the University of Granada Plan Propio de Investigación 2021-Excellence actions: Unit of Excellence on Exercise, Nutrition and Health (UCEENS)CIBEROBN, Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red (CB22/03/ 00058Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and Unión Europea – European Regional Development Fund. Promoting Professional Development for Teachers Through a Scale of Competence Assessment

    Get PDF
Competencies are a key factor in the professional development of teachers. Additionally, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in education are becoming increasingly important due to their potential in the field of education. The combination of both makes it easier to perform a comprehensive assessment of the level of competences of students in the Teacher Degree. The design of tasks and activities in order to promote their assessment enable classroom intervention. Indeed, this paper presents how ICTs have been used in university teaching. In order to respond to the evolution of training needs, we present a valid and reliable evaluation tool for professional competencies and learning results for prospective teachers (Pre-School and Primary Education). We applied for students from the Teacher Degree in their practicum period. Indeed, different learning and assessment tasks have been designed, some related to “correct” or “incorrect” teaching practices. This implies that the students have not only to do their tasks but to identify and to differentiate what is correct in their professional development. Finally, the instrument enables the assessment of the level of professional competencies acquired by prospective teachers during their training period

Currently, the family environment is conceived as a fundamental element for the adequate development of adolescents, which is why the present research has the objectives of developing an explanatory model of the incidence of family functionality and emotional intelligence on adherence to the Mediterranean diet in adolescents (b) to contrast the structural model by means of a multigroup analysis according to the degree of adherence to this dietary pattern. For this purpose, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out using the KIDMED, APGAR and TMMS-24 questionnaires. Finally, the results show that optimal adherence to the Mediterranean diet is positively related to family functionality, while low adherence to this dietary pattern is negatively related.

    Get PDF

The motivational climate towards sport, represents one of the main psychosocial factors most studied in the educational field of Physical Education and sports practice, through the theory of achievement goals and self-determination, as depending on the type of orientation, the teaching-learning process and healthy lifestyles can be constituted. This study conducted in the eight provinces of Andalusia for a sample of 775 university students (future teachers) who attend the mention of Physical Education in the degree of Primary Education, aims to define the perceived motivational climate towards sport, as well as establish the Main differences according to sex. As an assessment instrument, the PMCSQ-2 questionnaire and an ad-hoc questionnaire were used to record variables of a socio-demographic nature. Statistically significant differences were reported for the two dimensions of the motivational climate according to the sex of the study subjects, where it was determined that both in the task climate and in the ego, the male students showed higher values. Emphasis is placed on the importance of Physical Education teachers when promoting a motivational climate model in the class group, where it is increasingly common to give importance to the process in the face of results, cooperative work is strengthened and value the effort to acquire an improvement

Aggressive behaviors in schoolchildren represent a phenomenon that generates great concern, because it is in childhood that many aspects of personality begin. Also, multiple studies have shown how these types of behaviors can relate to various factors, such as peer groups, family environment or specific leisure habits. This descriptive and cross - sectional study aims to study the violent behavior of a sample of 530 schoolchildren in the province of Granada, as well as to relate these behaviors to the gender and the leisure time of participants’ screen. An Ad Hoc questionnaire and the Violent Behavior Scale in the School (Little et al., 2003) are used as main instruments. The results reveal higher levels of Manifest of pure and reactive type for the male gender, which could be due to higher levels of impulsivity associated with hormonal factors and sociocultural components. Likewise, a proportional relation between television hours and violent behaviors is obtained, increasing the average values in Manifest and Relational Aggressiveness by increasing the levels of screen leisure; Which demonstrates the negative influence exerted by the abusive use of television in this problematic.
