    BEP Performance Analysis of Multi-Node Self Encoded Spread Spectrum - Cooperative Diversity in Rayleigh Fading Channel

    Self - encoded spread spectrum (SESS) is a novel modulation technique th at acquires its spreading sequence from the random input data stream rather than through the use of the traditional pseudo - noise code generator. It has been incorporated with multi node cooperative diversity systems as a means to combat fading in wireless channels. In this paper we analyze the cooperative SESS for Amplify and Forward CD links ( M SESS - AFCD) and SESS for Decode and forward CD links ( M SESS - DFCD) in Rayleigh fading channels. The BE P expressions are derived in closed form, and the veracity of the analysis is confirmed by numerical calculations that demonstrate excellent agreement with simulation results

    Flexural Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Beams using Alkali Activated Binders

    This article discusses several different percentages of alkali activators that can be used in place of conventional cement with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) resulting in alkali activated binder (AAB). They are labelled as G10 percent, G7 percent, G6 percent, and G5 percent, respectively, since they include 90 percent, 93 percent, 94 percent, and 95 percent of GGBFS, as well as 10 percent, 7 percent, 6 percent, and 5 percent alkali as an activator, respectively. A comparison of specimens formed of reinforced beams utilising alkaline binders and conventional cement is shown in this study. One of the six varieties of reinforced concrete beams is composed of Portland slag cement, four of the beams are cast with varied chemical concentrations of AAB concrete, and the last beam is produced with Ordinary Portland cement. They are examined using four-point bend test. The behaviour of reinforced concrete beams composed of AAB and conventional cement is analysed in this study, and the crack types and ultimate loads of failure are also demonstrated. It was established that the combination of alkali activated binders known as G10 percent was the most successful one since it led to good performance when compared to the OPC concrete

    Multi User Diversity Evaluation in MIMO HSDPA Downlink Channels

    A multiple transmit antenna, single receive antenna (per receiver) downlink channel with limited channel feedback is considered. Given a constraint on the total system-wide channel feedback, the following question is considered: is it preferable to get low-rate feedback from a large number of receivers or to receive high-rate/high-quality feedback from a smaller number of (randomly selected) receivers. Acquiring feedback from many users allows multi-user diversity to be exploited, while highrate feedback allows for very precise selection of beamforming directions. It is shown that systems in which a limited number of users feedback high-rate channel information significantly outperform low-rate/many user systems. The marginal benefit of channel feedback is very significant up to the point where the CSI is essentially perfect

    F-box protein FBXO16 functions as a tumor suppressor by attenuating nuclear beta-catenin function

    Aberrant activation of beta-catenin has been implicated in a variety of human diseases, including cancer. In spite of significant progress, the regulation of active Wnt/beta-catenin-signaling pathways is still poorly understood. In this study, we show that F-box protein 16 (FBXO16) is a putative tumor suppressor. It is a component of the SCF (SKP1-Cullin1-F-box protein) complex, which targets the nuclear beta-catenin protein to facilitate proteasomal degradation through the 26S proteasome. FBXO16 interacts physically with the C-terminal domain of beta-catenin and promotes its lysine 48-linked polyubiquitination. In addition, it inhibits epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by attenuating the level of beta-catenin. Therefore, depletion of FBXO16 leads to increased levels of beta-catenin, which then promotes cell invasion, tumor growth, and EMT of cancer cells. Furthermore, FBXO16 and beta-catenin share an inverse correlation of cellular expression in clinical breast cancer patient samples. In summary, we propose that FBXO16 functions as a putative tumor suppressor by forming an SCF(FBXO16) complex that targets nuclear beta-catenin in a unique manner for ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation to prevent malignancy. This work suggests a novel therapeutic strategy against human cancers related to aberrant beta-catenin activation

    Thermal effects on electron-phonon interaction in silicon nanostructures

    Raman spectra from silicon nanostructures, recorded using excitation laser power density of 1.0 kW/cm^2, is employed here to reveal the dominance of thermal effects at temperatures higher than the room temperature. Room temperature Raman spectrum shows only phonon confinement and Fano effects. Raman spectra recorded at higher temperatures show increase in FWHM and decrease in asymmetry ratio with respect to its room temperature counterpart. Experimental Raman scattering data are analyzed successfully using theoretical Raman line-shape generated by incorporating the temperature dependence of phonon dispersion relation. Experimental and theoretical temperature dependent Raman spectra are in good agreement.     Statistical optimization for lipase production from solid waste of vegetable oil industry

    <p>The production of biofuel using thermostable bacterial lipase from hot spring bacteria out of low-cost agricultural residue olive oil cake is reported in the present paper. Using a lipase enzyme from <i>Bacillus licheniformis</i>, a 66.5% yield of methyl esters was obtained. Optimum parameters were determined, with maximum production of lipase at a pH of 8.2, temperature 50.8°C, moisture content of 55.7%, and biosurfactant content of 1.693 mg. The contour plots and 3D surface responses depict the significant interaction of pH and moisture content with biosurfactant during lipase production. Chromatographic analysis of the lipase transesterification product was methyl esters, from kitchen waste oil under optimized conditions, generated methyl palmitate, methyl stearate, methyl oleate, and methyl linoleate.</p

    Large Pelagics fisheries along Odisha coast – An overview

    The large pelagics fishery along Odisha coast is supported by resources such as seerfish, queenfish, tuna, barracuda, cobia, needlefish, billfish, dolphinfish and rainbow runner. The annual landings of large pelagics during the period 2007-2019 showed marked fluctuations with a declining trend and average landings of 5711 tonnes. Seerfish contributed 43% of total large pelagic landings followed by queen fish (31%), tuna (14%) and barracuda (7%). Major gears contributing to the landings were long lines (36%), followed by trawl nets (24%), gill nets (22%) and ringseines (11%). The fishery for large pelagics peaks during January to March and October – December periods with lowest landings during the April -June months and coinciding with a monsoon fishing ban period. These fishes which have low demand in local markets due to its large size and high prices are mostly iced immediately after auctioning and sent to distant markets
